I dont think Ten Dam will manage a top 5. Maybe not a top 10 even.
Have you watched this TdF? A Top 10 is definitely realistic, 5th place won't surprise me either. Though his recovery isn't that good.
I wouldn't say his recovery is that bad. He suffered towards the end of the Tour due to a crash in the Chorges TT, iirc.
Ten Dam like all Belkin riders suffer from 3 week curse. They allways get ill or crash in the 3 week that prevent them from making a Podium or Top 5 in GT.
Allright...

Dont u agree???
Remember where was Mollema and Ten Dam at the end of the second week at Tour and where were at the end of the Tour. Why? Illness and crash.
Gesink at the end of the second week at Giro and the end of Giro? Why? Illness.
Gesink at Tour last Year crash.
Mollema, and Ten Dam last Year at Vuelta??? Illness.
Or u think they just sucks.

I don't think Ten Dam was sick during the 2012 Vuelta. He was solid all the way through and finished 8th - 13 seconds from Talansky in 7th and just over 3 minutes behind Froome in 4th.
Far from below expectations, imo.

Yeah, but a curse is nonsense ofc. Gesink just can't handle his bike. Also, I think Mollema wasn't ill at the Vuelta 2012, he just couldn't combine working fully for Gesink(who was definitely on to something good at first) and going for a Top 10 GC himself at the Vuelta. (At a moment, they had 3 Belkins in the Top 10). Not sure if Ten Dam was sick.
But well, you can say that they don't have a lot of luck indeed. Also, both Gesink & Mollema are quite tall, skinny guys. I think that makes their chances to get ill grow. But well, I don't have a lot of knowledge on that.

It seems like he has troubles handling the pressure aswell. His best Tour result for example came when Menchov was the team leader

Mollema had a extraordinary start at last Year vuelta been even better than Gesink until Stage 8 were he started to lose time, then i read he wasnt feeling good and thats why he lost time and after that he started to work for Gesink.
Ten Dam was more or less regular but still I read somewhere in the 3 week he was suffering from backache.
And about the curse thing ur right but i think there are not a lot of Teams or Riders that had the bad luck Gesink and Rabobank, Blaco, Belkin has ober the last 3 years. |

Was it last year when nearly all of the Rabobank squad had to pull out of the Tour after 1-2 weeks? When it comes to the 3 grand tours they really don't have much luck it appears to be. It seemed to change this year though at the Tour, and maybe under the Belkin-Name they can finally shake it off one bit at a time.
As for the Vuelta: Hoping for a tough fight between Rodriguez & Nibali. Vuelta 2012 was incredible, maybe Vuelta '13 will come close to it.

Betancour will 100 percent be the captain, no doubt. Pozzovivo is not even close to Betancour. A future Tour GC : 1 Quintana, 2 Betancour, 3 Uran.
What a generation they have ! |

Betancur has been sick for past few days / weeks, so his shape is a bit of unknown so far.

Quintana was 21 back then and had barely raced any big races, you know. Everyone can't become a star at 20 like Sagan.

Strong team again. Lastras and Gutierrez are clearly declining but add so much experience

OGE to announce their squad on Tuesday.
With a strong performance at Utah, looks like Michael Matthews might get a run. |
