Glad Farrar got involved, but with Mezgec on his wheel he was never going to win.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Ewan What a talent! I know that now most of the riders are totally out of shape but being second only behind Mezgec is really a great result

By chance I got to watch it during a school trip, and I have to agree, Ewan was great today. He gave that little bit more at just the right time to edge out Farrar for second. Really a huge talent. Thought the sound wasn't on, so I actually thought it was Mezgec vs Navardauskas vs Matthews.

If you're a talented sprinter you'll get results from the off. Cav did, Kittel did and Ewan will. Will be awesome seeing him next year, big wins coming for sure and finally Orica will have a true sprinter.

Today's stage in Beijing has been shortened. Finish now on top of a KoM, instead of a flat sprint. Gotta love the organisation

In all fairness, that probably has to do with the moved finish.

You guys should be happy that China is interested in helping the cycling world out. by holding not only tour of beijing but many other races as well.
No one is forced to watch the race, so if you are bored turn of the stream and do something else.
Personally i am sad that Tour of Bejing closes, i see it as a small step back for the asian cycling world. |

They should have given WT in Asia to Qatar or Oman instead, they'd probably get a better field together.

Yes lets give a world tour to two countries with 2 mio and 4,5 mio people that have nothing else than money that they like to spend. China is a huge country if cycling was spread properbly in that country it would be huge.
And honestly i don't see it being much worse compared to Tour de Down under and Tour of Poland when you look at the teams and riders participating.
They have flat stages like most other races, and they have a mountain stage. People are so spoiled these days, expecting gold entertainment at every single stage.
Keep in mind also, that the race takes place at the end of the season.

Tour of Beijing sucks. Belkin are threathning to not race stage 3 because of the heavy levels of poluttion which is making breeding really hard. |

No wonder Belkin are struggling if their main concern is breeding!

At least with the TDU it started out as a lower level race and built upto WT status, the Tour of Beijing was forced onto the calendar mainly to benefit McQuaid and his cronies and not to promote cycling in Asia. If there was any race in China that would deserve WT status it would be the Tour of Qinghai Lake, it is well organised and seems to provide good racing but would need a move in the calendar.

I agree.
If we put the fact that the UCi gave WT status to the Tour of Beijing from the get go, too the side, and look at the race as it is.
We got a perfectly fine race, that riders can open if they so wish too. Unfortunatly most riders are tired because it is the absolute end of the season ofc. driving around Beijing with the bad oxygen lvl's they have doesn't help either.
But ragging against a race just because they have a flat stage that ends up being a mass sprint just like in many other races is just weird. At least they don't make the flat stages 200km long. Besides i thaught todays stage was very entertaining in the final km's.
On another note, i do hope that they would move the Tour of Qinghai to another date and maybe give that race a chance, cause i firmly believe that a big race in China would be a great step for world of cycling. |

At least those races don't generate a huge loss every season....
