May 14: Giro d’Italia - Stage 3 | Barumini > Cagliari - 195 km
Very flat profile today as the first mass sprint of the Giro is looming up the road on today’s stage. A lot of prominent sprinter has shown up to this tour including the likes of Pettachi, Cavendish, Davis, Bettini, Bennati, Ventoso, Nazon and Gasparotto and we’ll probably find the winner today among these guys.
Another stage, another day in the maglia rosa for Christian today, who could easily lose it today to one of his teammates. We’ve actually planned to give it to Fábian as a tribute to him after his great performance on the 1st stage.
Leader’s jersey meant we had to take charge of the pack and control today’s TV break.
Galdos Alonso (EUS), Kiriyenka (TCS), Engoulvent (FDJ), Korff (TMO) and Verbrugghe (COF) were in the early breakaway today, but as it’s still early in this race, the sprinting teams had no problems reeling them in, setting things up for their sprinter.
Team Milram worked hard to reel in the breakaway to set it up for their sprinting ace, Allesandro Pettachi.
With 25 km to go, all riders were back on level terms and the jostling for positions began gradually from this point.
On the final kilometres, T-Mobile took charge and barged their train forward, with Cavendish sitting on Jakob Piil’s wheel, who was gonna lead the young brit out. One train looked to be decisive. It was the one with Piil leading with Cavendish in his wheel. After Cavendish, Bettini, Ventoso, Bennati, Grillo and Davis were getting ready. Pettachi was no where to be seen.
T-Mobile looked to the young Mark Cavendish for victory on today’s stage and the Brit was strong as they hit the final stretch.
As Piil began the sprint, Cavendish was past him almost immediately with Bettini sticking close to him. But Bettini soon faded and it looked as though no one was going to challenge Cavendish, until Aussie Allan Davis came barging out of nowhere and gained on Cavendish very fast on the final metres of the stage. It was going to be close.
Can Cavendish hold off Davis and secure his first win of the season?
Davis gained incredibly fast on Cavendish and it looked as though he was going to rob him on the line. But it was just too little too late for Davis who had to see himself edged out by a very small margin on the finish line by Cavendish who took his first win of the season. Very nice ride by this young guy.
Mark Cavendish took a rare British ProTour Win as he just held off Allan Davis, who came very close to greatness on today’s stage.
Karpets is out of the GC now as he again lost time. More than 5 minutes actually. Another favourite Eddy Mazzoleni withdrew on today’s stage. Another strange thing. Besides them, all favourites made it to the finish without any problems. Cancellara took the leader’s jersey as he finished as the first CSC rider.

in that case, here's something to (hopefully) tie your brain up in a knot:
imagine any three numbers. any numbers at all. and to prove that they can be any numbers at all, let's call them "a", "b" and "c". those numbers must be such that a+b=c
now:
a+b=c <=> a+b-c=0
considering that (logically and very obviously) a = 2a-a and b=2b-b and also that c=2c-c
we get:
a+b-c=0 <=> (2a-a)+(2b-b )-(2c-c)=0 <=> 2a-a+2b-b-2c+c=0 <=> 2a+2b-2c = a+b-c <=> 2(a+b-c)=a+b-c <=> 2(a+b-c)=1(a+b-c) <=> 2=1
if this looks complicated, look at it again. it's actually quite simple
(sorry for hijacking the thread Andy)

Kinda thing I'm doing in Further Maths at the mo - hard, but rewarding when you understand it (it gets far more complicated than that though )
Anyway, go Cav

Already done my friend. Vectors within kinematics of a particle moving in a horizontal and vertical plane. Now that is fun B)

you people obviously have never taken discrete mathematics. if mathematics can get fun, that's the most it gets.
finding paths in labirinths, etc.
