He had solid Sprint results for a few years imo. Not only lately.
He is a great mountain domestique but also good in Sprint leadouts or even by himself |

Oh man, that Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia result... Guido Mukk would be freaking proud of that Rein Taaramae victory. Here's me hoping it signals an upturn in the lad's fortunes in life after Cofidis.

Well, i would not be 100% percent sure that Guido is happy that Rein rides for Mr. Cheater himself.

Breakaway win in the Tropicale Amissa Bongo today.
Chtioui, Belmoktar and Bernaudeu attacked early and quickly gained some minutes. With 10km to go they still had 3min while Chtioui went solo to win the stage.

Cavendish has started great to this year
Apparently he put a huge effort in to keeping his weight down in the off season and he is much lighter now than he usually is at this point. He clearly wants to have one last crack at MSR.

No need for Guido, I'm here too
Cofidis must be feeling pretty bad now
Rein was probably one of the few in the team who trained using this century methods.

This is, no joke, an article currently on Velonews:
Why race in the desert?
Why are bike races held in the sandy, sunny, and flat Middle East? Caley Fretz checks in from the Persian Gulf region.
It's incredible the quality of cycling journalism. I mean, they say muckracking is no longer in style, that media just print anything to fill up space, but this is some groundbreaking stuff here. |

Not sure what to think of this.
2nd solo win for Chtioui in a row.

Wielerflits writes it was a late attack by Chtioui (with about 2 km to go). Judging from the full result the peloton was reall thinned out (around 30 guys left). |

Not that weird, Chtioui is a fine attacker, at least in these fields. Has collected quite some wins and podiums with attacking, although twice in a row is remarkable.

Is there anything notable about Chtioui accomplishing this, or are you just not sure what to think of two solo wins at all.
I haven't been following closely enough the last few years, but PCM DB makers always seemed pretty high on him at the very least. Any reason why he shouldn't be able to drop Yohann Gene, especially this early in the season, when he may be in much better form? |

No. Nothing tpp notable. Just what Jesleyh said.
I have always seen him like the attacker, how he did in Dubai this year. Breakaway, fighting etc.
But I was quite surprised to see him more powerful today to attack in the finale and win the stage after he was part of yesterdays breakaway trio all day.
Seeing that there were quite a selection today in the final, the race probably wasn`t too slow in the end. And I just had expected other riders to attack in the end instead of him.
Gene btw. might be a helper in most races. In the Tropicale Amissa Bongo though he is quite a legend with several stage wins as also the GC in 2013.
It`s btw. pretty cool that the Tropicale Amissa Bongo has better youtube highlight videos as the Tour of Oman for example.
Regarding yesterdays solo I just found this here. Apparently this gave him ~3-4min and this could actually decide the race GC quite a lot.
Yesterday Rafaa Chtioui took an impressive solo win in the opening stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo but his win was slightly blighted by the fact that the peloton had taken the wrong way, giving Chtioui’s break a big advantage. Today he proved that the win was no fluke though when he showed impressive strength to add stage 2 to his palmares.

He's lucky that Fausto Coppi's younger brother wasn't in the field...
EDIT: Wait, I was mistaken. It was Mahe who got sent the wrong direction, and the protest was that he had to hop a fence into the Velodrome...

Cancellara looked particularly strong today. Valverde with a surprising 2nd place.
Mclay taking the 3rd stage of Amissa Bongo in a tight sprint it seems, can't really tell though.

Oman being pretty stingy with gaps. Also how did Sagan not with that 5 man sprint?
