Many people said that to me, but i really dont see it there.
For me it is like American pie, just lasting forever.

It's funny, but in a stupid way, like American Pie is for example (even that was smarter though imo).
The funniest shows for me are Arrested Development, Parks and Rec, Portlandia, It's Always Sunny, IT Crowd and 30 Rock. While I'll watch HIMYM if it's on, and probably enjoy it, people's obsession with it amazes me as it's very repetitive and Ted is just so boring. Marshall is the funniest character on the show imo. Barney is a terrible character, the only reason he's accepted is because he's gay IRL so everyone says "Oh it doesn't matter what he says, he's gay!". /rant |

After a 5 hour exam earlier this year I feel for you. Although I was lucky as it was 2 hours of Physics, 1 and a half hours of Engineering and 1 and a half of English so it was at least varied. |

Design and production of a solar powered laptop. Part of a 8 unit course, in the others we did things such as Electronics, Design and Disassembly of household products and Maintenance of machines. Plus a project of your choosing - mine was to improve the performance of the electric racing car we built. It was pretty enjoyable. |

Spoiler Although I dont watch it regularly, and the story seems to drag on forever)
Honestly, it is one of the biggest crap TV series i have ever watched. Fecal and sexist jokes repeated again and again, with for me the most annoying person in any series ever, Barney. I saw some episodes and i cant really watch a second more. Everyone and everything is so affected and exaggerated there.
/rant over.
In comparsion to some british comedy series like Black books or Red Dwarf, it is just the lowest of humors...
Sorry to all the fans of HIMYM.
It used to be funny when it first came out, but by know its just overplayed and boring... It got gradually worse with every season and the 8th one was simply unwatchable... And it gets renewed every time, eventhought they say its going to be the last series... I bet you after season nine, they suddenly announce that they have renewed for another season showing how ted breaks up and gets together a felt 3 buillion times with his future wife before he finally settles down. Then hey renew it for an eleventh season where they probably send ted, barney and marshall to Iraq, china, the moon, wherever really, where all 3 start humping marsians... ITS JUST NOT FUNNY ANYMORE AND IT HASNT BEEN SINCE SEASON 5!!!
/Rant over...
There are definetly better shows out there... HIMYM by know has taken the same turn as 2 & half men... Just not watchable anymore.
Dear god, I hope that at least the 3rd chuck lorre show doesnt turn out that bad. I personally have moved away from the comedy shows. The only one i really watch is TBBT. Other than that I watch other shows, such as The Following, Hannibal or House of Lies...
Now I am definetly finished...

Look, I bloody well like Red Dwarf, but it's not more highbrow than HIMYM.

What a shame you went and said this. TBBT is truly terrible, it's a dumb show about smart people as opposed to Arrested Development which is a smart show about dumb people. |

TBBT less repetitive than HIMYM??? That makes me laugh! Admitedly neither shows are helped out by their basic set ups (TBBT nerds learning, HIMYM the mother) but HIMYM at least tries to tackle a few differing story lines and emotions.
TBBT has been trotting out the same thing every episode since season 3, and even then seasons 1 and 2 only get away because they were new.
HIMYM certainly wandered around without direction for seasons 3-7 most of the time but now it certainly looks to be headed back in the right direction.
And lets all be honest, neither TBBT nor HIMYM are stand out shows. Yes both have their great and terrible moments, but when you compare them to similar sit-coms from the last few decades such as Scrubs and Friends they are just sh*t.

I found the humour there somewhat sofisticated and jokes brilliantly polished, but it is probably just nostalgia. Simply best show ever for me, i have seen every episode like ten times.

Hey! Everyone needs some borderline dumb show to enjoy some cheap laughs... Yes it is very repetitive, but every comedy show that runs for a couple of seasons is repetitve... And as for arrested development: I am getting to the point where I cant see jason bateman anymore...

You can add two to that list (I think): Fresh Prince & That 70s Show |

I remember watching the Fresh Prince (it was great) and when I reached season 4 suddenly Aunt Viv was another actresse. I immediately stopped watching.
And I agree with Miggi on himym. The series went south after season 5

Well, in my opinion, the refreshment of Ahston Kutcher in Two And A Half Men has made it good, just like as a second Charlie
But The Simpsons is always something to get back on?

I'm humorous, and thus all I watch is crime shows with childish detectives...
