Of the GC contenders, I believe these avoided the crash as they finished in the front group:
Peraud
Evans
Vandenbroeck
Cunego
Valverde
Porte
Froome
Fuglsang
Purito
Quintana
As long as riders who crashe dare not hurt, it shouldn't matter.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Did you not watch the stage? Or read the 'commentary' here? Madness at the finish line which was moved twice as a result. It would be very uneven/unfair to give literal times in such a scenario.
They would have lost time anyway... |

Don't see why everyone says this was the "worst TdF stage ever". It's hardly the bus drivers fault that the crash happend (the road was wide enough) and there've been plenty of stages affected by crashes before.

Don't be ridiculous. They've just adapted the 3 km-rule to the place where the times were taken (3 km from the finish) rather than at the actual line. By far the most sensible thing to do, if you ask me.

Not necessarly, at the time of the crash the finish was still said to be at the 3km mark (or even if it that was communicated to the teams a bit earlier there was still confusion), so they were acting as if it was 1.5km to go, so there was more action then there would have been normally, also some riders might have been confused about the place of the finish or there might have been communication with the team cars about that topic that second which could have all led to the crash, which might not have happened otherwise.

2 weeks off the bike, then one month or so to reach a decent level again, and he's fine by mid-August.
Still largely on time to be 2013 ITT WC. |

Matt White, DS of OGE said that bus driver was told to move forward and followed all the instructions given to him. |

Yeah, I'm not familiar with healing times, let's hope so.
So we traded one German stage win for another one today.
At least Cav's train takes a hit.

Crazy stage! The bus made the day even more hectic, and from the way Hesjedal basically bounced off the ground from his crash he should be okay.
Only hope Martin is okay. Congrats to Smowz who predicted a Kittel win.

Hectic stage.
Orica Green Wedge, I love that name No fault to the bus driver obviously.
Arguably the ASO could have neutralized it, but as far as I know, they made the call to finish at 3k as soon as they heard about the crash, which is sensible enough. Once the real finish was clear again, I see why they moved it back again.
Yes this did cause some confusion, and one could argue that it increased the chances of a mass crash happening. Still, I think it's way too indirect to make link these things together. The crash happened, and the ASO acted appropriately. Giving everyone the same time because of all the confusion was a good decision.
About the winner, definitely deserved. Kittel is a top sprinter no matter how you look at it, and the fact that his main rivals weren't there anymore doesn't change that.
Finally, grats to Van Poppel to getting third. Hopefully he'll surprise us one or two more times this week. |

Apparently someone has the brilliant idea to get some air out of the tires from the bus, and after that it got free. That guy just saved the Tour.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Phil Liggett mentioned that on air, atleast 5mins before it was moved
