That's when you can see that apparent super talents are sometimes nothing more than very decent pros when they're riding clean(er) than they once did.

I guess we'll never find out how far he would've gone in the 2011 Vuelta if it wasn't for that crash.
I think he would've gone as far as Mosquera.

Most contenders for the hilly classics who are not contending for the overal in Pais Vasco drop out during the 3/4/5th stage. Like in previous years I mean.

Pinot is really bad at descending. He was going backwards. |

Nothing we didn't know, but it helps that the pace is low. He isn't gaining time on Fraile after all.

Yup. Quite stupid tactics from some other teams not attacking.

They probably don't wanna risk anything yet in this horrible weather. |

They'll attack in the last climb, win, at best, a few seconds on Porte, and then they'll be humiliated in the ITT. "We tried, but there's nothing we could do, he was the strongest" - they'll say.
This race does need more Contador. Oh wait...

But they should have some teammates/second row riders attack on the earlier two climbs and see if Kiryienka could still follow. If not, Sky would have to chose between Henao and Porte.

Unfortunately not. One attack and he's gone. Maybe even before the attacks come. |
