@Sutty Thanks, it's probably biggest victory from the team up to now. Although Willunga Hill was nice too
@Marcovdw I told you, Boonen is really, really good. And Pate probably had a big offday. Like Huge.

Latest News
Not really much news.
Omloop win!
Yes, we did it! Tom Boonen won Omloop het Nieuwsblad! He was one of the top-favourites, for sure, but still, it’s a great boost for the team, even though it’s a CT race. It might be the most prestigious CT race anyway.
Langkawi win!
Surprisingly, Stefan van Dijk brought us a nice stage-win! While all the top-sprinters were looking at each other, Stefan van Dijk is the happy ‘third’, and takes the win. Kelderman takes the summit win in Malaysia, jury gone drunk
Kelderman convincingly took the win at Langkawi stage 6. It looks like the jury was drunk though. The jury gave about 25 guys the same time. In a mountain stage! Okay, the gaps weren’t that big, but Kelderman could’ve had a 15 seconds gap. Anyway, it’s not our team.
Weekly review
A nice week for us.
Tour of Langkawi Stage 4
Stefan van Dijk won the stage, as said. This is a major surprise for us, we didn’t see that coming. Great job Stefan, great job.
1. S. Van Dijk(ING)
2. M.Pelucchi(Bulgari)
3. A.Kruopis(Fastweb) Stage 5
A (classified as) flat stage, but with a lot of hills. A bit of a disappointment for us today, but Van Dijk isn’t that strong on hills.
1. D.Impey(CYMRU)
2. P.Sagan(In-N-Out)
3. T.Ludvigsson(Sony Ericsson)
14. S.Van Dijk(ING)
Stage 6
The mountain stage. Gadret was a favourite here, but as said, there were no gaps. That’s a bit disappointing.

Omloop het Nieuwsblad
The first cobbled race of the season. Also the first race in the season that’s really important for us. It turned out great for us. Not only Boonen won, but Boom also finished 6th. A great race for us.
1. Tom Boonen(ING)
2. P.Sagan(IN-N-Out)
3. T.Vaitkus(Pervyj)
6. L.Boom(ING)
Stage ranking rating: 7.5/10: Van Dijk gave us a win. That’s great, since we didn’t expected that. Gadret disappointed at the mountain stage though. We count one-day’s as Classification(GC), otherwise this mark would have been even better.
Classifications ranking: 8/10: Nope, not a 10. We lost the KoM jersey with Lindeman, and aren’t really in the mix at the Langkawi GC. But winning Omloop is a great achievement, and is really important for us.
Total ranking: 8/10: It has been a great week for us, with 2 wins.
Weekly Awards
Here we are again. Most awards were a bit obvious though.

Team of the Week
Of course, we’re not the only team out there. We will award the ‘Team of the Week’ and the team who just missed out of that, some points for the ranking again this week.
Top teams this week
Team CYMRU Wales They have been steady in the sprints in Malaysia, with Daryl Impey. Nobody can keep up with Sagan there, but Impey is close, and even grabbed a win. Also, Thomas is still 3rd in the GC, even after the mountain stage. Thomas also got 8th in Omloop.
Pervyj A bit overachieving. Leading the team classification in Malaysia, runner-up at the mountain stage there and 2 guys in the Top 10 of the GC there. Also, they got third in Omloop.

In-N-out is surprisingly the new leader. Or shall I call them Team Sagan? It’s because they sent Sagan to Tour of Langkawi. He’s dominating there. But that will cost Peter some race-days later in the season. Which is good news. But for now, In-N-Out is the leader.
Interview with Maarten Wynants
Just like last week, a Belgian. This time, it’s cobbler Maarten Wynants. He ended up 14th in Omloop, but more important, he lead Tommeke to the Omloop het Nieuwsblad 2012 win. Thijs Zonneveld: Hi Maarten. Still happy about Omloop?
Maarten Wynants: Yeah, sure. This is so important for the team. My 14th spot isn’t that bad either, but that Tom wins it is fantastic. TZ: Do you think that your team has the strongest cobbles squad?
MW: Maybe. Motorex has a strong squad as well, maybe even a bit stronger. Although they have focussed a bit too much on the cobbles I think. But still, you saw, their team is beatable. TZ: What do you think about the ranking points for cobbled races
MW: I think they are a bit too few. I mean, come on, cobbled races are really important, and there aren’t a lot of them. It’s probably because I’m a cobbler, but more points for races like RvV shouldn’t be bad TZ: I see, but that’s probably because you are a cobbler. Do you think that Boonen can hold on to this level for a few more years?
MW: I know what you mean, he’s in his thirties right now. Well, I’m not getting younger either, and neither is Spartacus. But yeah, it’s unpredictable, but I think that Boonen can stay world-class for a few more years. TZ: What about your calendar for March and April? Which races, apart from the cobbled classics, are you racing?
MW: I’m racing Milan – San Remo first. It’s going to be tough for me, but I can do it. It isn’t a major goal for the team anyway. Apart from the cobbled races, I will also race KBC(-De Panne) and Vuelta a Pais Vasco. TZ: Any goals there?
MW: Nah, not really. Just guiding a team mate to the win – if possible . TZ: Thanks for answering the questions. Good luck in the cobbled classics!
Next up on our calendar
1. Strade Bianche
Always a great race. It’s an uphill sprint. We’re able to send one of the best uphill sprinters of the world, Johan Veenhof. No Sagan, that’s good news.
2. Paris – Nice
An amazing line-up for us in this hilly race, with Voeckler, Schleck and Veenhof. Sadly enough, we´re not the only one with such a strong line-up. A small TT forms the start of the race, followed by a lot of hilly (and a few flat) stages.
3. Tirreno – Adriatico
More mountainous than Paris-Nice. Ruiter & Voeckler are looking for a good GC finish here, while Quintana will be aiming for the young rider’s jersey.

@Ollfardh That's nice to hear Hope to get even better on the ranking in Paris-Nice and Tirreno
@Stromeon Corrected, thanks Edited by Jesleyh on 24-03-2013 13:43
Reasons are easy:
1. It's Easter, come on, I'm reasonable, I gave everyone a day off.
2. No races... Writing a magazine when there are no races is just, useless...
Tour of Langkawi has just finished. Our sprinter didn't make the time cut at the mountain stage, so there was nothing for us to do.
Gadret could go for the GC, but fate(or Pate) decided that the hilly stage resulted in a big group finish, so that there were no gaps, and Gadret couldn't do anything, since his sprint is rubbish.
He finished disappointingly on the 19th GC spot.
We're glad that Van Dijk grabbed us a win on an earlier stage, though.
Anyway, lets move on.
Next up, is Strade Bianche. Veenhof will slaughter the opposition, mark my words
Finally, some real news again.
At first, the Cycling season finally gets started again. Strade Bianche will start very soon. Johan Veenhof is gonna grab the win there, I can feel it.
Secondly, a small change in the startlist of Paris - Roubaix, which we posted earlier.
Thomas Voeckler couldn't be bothered to start in his home country, he wanted to ride Milan - San Remo. He wants to win it with a late attack. Who knows? Bellemakers will probably replace his PR-spot.
At least we're going again. Strade Bianche went decent for us. Halfway the race, a bad thing happened for us. Johan Veenhof came stuck into the narrow roads, and dropped from the peloton. Luckily, we had another uphill sprinter left. Samuel Dumoulin managed to get us a nice 5th place. We'd hoped for a Veenhof Top 3 though, but we blame the narrow roads Anyway, he will be more lucky in Paris - Nice, we hope.
Tirreno TTT
The Tirreno - Adriatico start. The TTT. Some of the guys were really fearing that moment. Our team isn't build for TTT's. The gaps weren't that big though. We secured a 17th position, but we 'only' lost 41 seconds. We trust in Ruiter, he can close that gap on the mountain stage, although he couldn't keep up with the train, and lost 46 seconds..
Sorry guys, still no magazine.
Too few races lately, it's really not nice to write a magazine then. If both WT races will ride a few stages, then next week there certainly is Edited by Jesleyh on 28-04-2013 10:25
Aaaaaand, we’re on the road again. Both Paris – Nice and Tirreno – Adriatico are on the way, while Strade Bianchi is finished. It was a while ago that the last magazine took part, but the cycling season was on a break, forgive us that.

Case Johan Veenhof
There seems to be a misunderstanding about Johan Veenhof. Rumours would say that he is unhappy at ING, and he’s furious about the lack of support he gets at Paris – Nice. This is absolutely exaggerated. Johan made 1 complain about the lack of support, that’s it. The point is that ING has to work at the front, and that’s quite new to some guys of the team. They have to get used to that, since working at the front + being a good leadout turns out to be heavy for guys like Pietropolli, who didn’t do that too much for Lampre.
And on the other hand, we’re not unhappy with his performances as well.
Everything’ll be all right.
Strade Bianche messed up
Strade Bianche was one of the races that was raced in the past days. We had high hopes for Veenhof, but in the end, he was dropped by the peloton. The team worked our asses off though, it was just a bit unlucky. In the end, our back-up, Samuel Dumoulin, got us a 5th place. Enrico Gasparotto won the race.
Paris – Nice current situation
After the prologue, where we didn’t have any contender, and where Voeckler minimised the loss, only 16 seconds, 2 sprint stages took place.
Veenhof failed to deliver at stage 2, although we can blame Pietropolli for that, I admit. He still got 7th though. Stage 3 went better for Veenhof though, he got a nice second place on the uphill sprint. The commentator said that Veenhof was angry on the team and that ING didn’t fuction properly, but obviously, the commentator is nuts
Tirreno – Adriatico current situation
Our new secret project took place here. We managed to clone someone. And not just someone, the most awesome French guy on the world(besides Remi Gaillard), Thomas Voeckler! It only works for once though, and just for 7 days. Luckily, that’s how long Tirreno – Adriatico takes! Anyway, the race:
We lost 40 seconds on the TTT, which was expected. After that, multiple breaks won the stages. Koen de Kort was among them, he got a nice Top 10 for us.
Stage 4 was different. A hilly stage. Clone(and clown) Voeckler got a nice podium spot, and Ruiter got a Top 10. On the mountain stage (5), Ruiter got a podium spot.
On the last stage up to now, Voeckler & Ruiter both got a Top 10, with Voeckler being 4th.
The GC is more or less decided here. Mathijs Ruiter is 5th, while(Cloned) Thomas Voeckler is 6th on the GC. A 9km prologue is all that’s left. They might lose a GC spot, but they’ll both stay in the Top 10, unless something really bad happens.
Also, we have the lead in the team classification.
Our favourite French clone in action

Stage ranking rating: 8,5/10: So many Top 10s for us this week. That is, Veenhof 2x in Paris – Nice, and both Ruiter & Voeckler multiple times in Italy. Points, points, points!!!
Classifications ranking: 8: According to Tirreno, I should’ve gave a 9. But Bianchi went a bit disappointing for us, and we can’t say anything about Paris – Nice yet.
Total ranking: 8,5/10: It has been a great week for us, so many points will be/are ours.
Weekly Awards
Here we are again. Some hard decisions for us.
Rider of the Week
3 nominees here.
Samuel Dumoulin saved our Strade Bianche, with a nice 5th place, while he didn’t even prepare on going on his own.
Thomas Voeckler minimized his loss on the PN prologue, and did great in the hilly stages of Tirreno, and still has a Top 10 GC position on a route that doesn’t suit him that good.
Mathijs Ruiter is a spot higher on the GC. He podiumed the queen’s stage.
The winner is…

Of course, we’re not the only team out there. We will award the ‘Team of the Week’ and the team who just missed out of that, some points for the ranking again this week. Top teams this week
Domino’s – ASR
One of the other Dutch teams. Got a WT win, as a CT team, and even podiumed the stage after that. We’re talking about Tirreno – Adriatico, btw.
Globant – Telefe
Our favourite North-Korean, Po Ding, just missed out of a podium in the prologue of Paris – Nice. Alberto Contador is dominating the Tirreno though, with a nice GC lead as well.
Pro Team Haier
They simply did great.
Not only took Hagen a Paris – Nice win, he also took a Top 3 in the prologue. Also, Bobbie Traksel, the Dutchman, took a nice Tirreno - Adriatico win. They were simply great, even predicted as the worst WT team by this magazine.

Interview with Daniele Pietropolli
Today, we’ve got a puncheur/sprinter, who has been in the news recently, by leading out(or not leading out) Johan Veenhof. Of course, he’ll explain what happened.
Thijs Zonneveld: Hi Daniele, how are you now?
Daniele Pietropolli: Good, why? TZ: Well, things didn’t went so well in Paris – Nice up to now.
DP: That’s true. My fault. TZ: What happened?
DP: Well, stage 2 was just a bad day for me. My legs weren’t good. Also, the peloton was a bit annoying, they let me lead completely, I was at the head of the peloton. And believe me, that Ãs tiring!
I didn’t do that bad on stage 3 though, I might have let Johan go a little bit too early, but nothing bad. TZ: Yeah. Is the relation between Johan & you okay now?
DP: Yes, it’s good. He got a bit angry at me after the finish, but I guess that’s just adrenaline, and he was right, he should be angry at me. But we talked it out, and it’s okay now. TZ: Okay, other subject. It’s not clear, are you a puncheur or a sprinter?
DP: I’m a puncheur, but I can do sprints too, preferably uphill sprints. TZ: So you’ll ride the Ardennes?
DP: No, I’m afraid not. My stamina isn’t good enough for Amstel & Liège anyway. Pais Vasco is the next race I will ride. TZ: Interesting. Another subject, your contract. Were you surprised that you could sign a 3 year contract with your age?
DP: Slightly, I admit. But I think I can go on for years, seriously. Not feeling any form of declining. But I agree, it’s not usual for a 31-year old guy. TZ: But who knows what happens? There’s quite a big chance that you won’t be capable of leading out anymore the third year. You’re just an ordinary helper then.
DP: I have to settle with that. TZ: Okay, thanks for your time!
Next up on our calendar
1. 17/03 – Milan – San Remo
LA PRIMAVERA! The first monument of the year. We’re prepared for any kind of race. Light races, with a sprint finish, are a prey for Boonen, while a medium/tough race can be a prey for a late Voeckler, or maybe Fränk Schleck attack. We’re really looking forward to this race.
2. 19/03 – 25/03 Vuelta a Catalunya
A great race for Mathijs Ruiter. Amazing profile, 0 km TT, and no hills, only mountains! Veenhof is here as well, though the amount of sprint stages isn’t that huge. He’ll have to suck wheels though, we’ve taken a climbers squad, sorry for that, but it could be expected. In emergency, we have Leezer(72SP) as well.
3. 23/03 E3 Prijs – Harebeke
First WT cobbles are here! Boonen, Boom, Wynants, they’re all present here, ofc!
Looking forward!
