Great Giro, 2 neo-pro's sticking it to the seasoned riders
And Vandenbergh is a good signing

Fantastic Giro for Lombaerts, but sad to see Greipel leaving.
Nice signing of Renshaw, and Vanderbergh, and let's hope that you are able to win in Pologne |

Yeah +1, I think lots of people here want to know who the national champions are Just a quick summary doesn't kill you, does it?
You can always put it in a spoiler if you think that it takes too much place in the story

Fantastic giro for both of the youngsters. Too bad Greipels leaves the team If VDB ends on the podium in paris, Belguim will go crazy after what De Gendt did.
Good luck in Pologne.

I think Keukeleire became Belgian champion (which would be awesome), but I also want to know who the champions of the other countries are In my game, I'm always looking forward towards the NC's, I like to see other riders wearing those beautiful champion jerseys |

Tour of Pologne - Stage 1
Well, after a long break, I'm finally back to race a little bit more. However, I'm not in a good shape. I feel pretty good and fresh, though. It's only too bad the race didn't end uphill, then I would've been able to do something. Today I'll let Stijn tell you the story, since I've been using this blog way too much during the Giro!
Just one thing, it's amazing to see how many fans I have because of what I did at the Giro!
It was a pretty usual day with the usual breakaway. Lund was the first one to attack.
The peloton enjoyed the view and gave the breakaway over 6 minutes.
Then something horrible happened! Something that reminds us all of Hoogerland in 2011. (And, by some strange coincident, Hoogerland has won the TDF stage of the following day)
The victim of the day was Michael Matthews. The driver of the car has apologized after the race and he won't be riding among us tomorrow.
In the final descend, Nocentini thought he could escape a mass sprint and went for the victory.
But a sprint was inevitable so it was up to me to show everyone my victory at the Giro wasn't a coincident!
Unfortunately, I never even came close to Vantomme, who sprinted as fast as the wind!
Well, second place isn't bad, I guess. Especially not after such a long break from competitive riding. We were actually eager to see Renshaw sprinting, as he's present here, but he didn't survive the hills as good.
Twenty minutes after I'd crossed the line, the hero of the day reaches the end of a very, very long day. Such character, he wouldn't give up. Michael Matthews.
Meanwhile, Wiggins is holding on to his yellow jersey in TDF, but Van Den Broeck is putting some pressure on him, he's only 30s behind him!
See you tomorrow, for a flat stage.

Yeah, but I kinda like the shot, looking like the car runs him over. It's something that doesn't happen on pcm but happens in real life and when it looks like it happens on pcm, I can take advantage of it
I think he'll even start tomorrow so it wasn't so bad after all, no barbed wires for him. |

Tour of Pologne - Stage 2
The first real flat stage. No doubt there will be more sprinters at the finish than yesterday.
Our plan was simple: try and get into the breakaway, then wait for the sprint finish.
Well, you don't have to tell D. Vanendert and Dockx twice! They broke away as soon as possible.
Everyone seemed sedated so in the end, the breakaway consisted out of two Lotto-Belisol riders, that's it. Which is excellent for the team!
The Belgian Champion is also present with us: Jens Keukeleire!
Nearing the sprint, I was trapped in the peloton, I started feeling anxious and I was locked in I couldn't go forward.
Lucky for me, Bulgac and Lombaerts came to my rescue and brought me to the front, so I didn't lose too much energy. Thanks to them!
Then it was up to me...
And I did it! I'm a sprinter now, that's for sure. The whole experience of riding the Giro really made me a stronger and more confident rider. This victory is for the team, that's done so much for me lately. Renshaw came in second, our sprinter for next year. Although Eric says he has heard rumors he'll be co-sprinter, with me being the other co. I haven't heard anything from management yet, but I would love that!
Anyway, this win felt fantastic, my third professional victory and the second one in a WT race, excellent! Even Eric was happy for me.
I was up the podium 4 times in a row! First for stage win, then for GC (leading!), points jersey and young jersey, this is too much! Incredible!

I think I might just make this jersey my main objective. I wonder if it's realistic. But according to my sprint trainer, it is! So I'm going to go for it! After all, since Eric got himself the KoM jersey at the Giro, I have to get a jersey, too!
Well, that concludes today's race, see you tomorrow for another flat sprint, another chance for me. |
