Na na na naa naa, my vote's important
Labour since 97, Torys before that - a Labour majority of just 900 in the last election.
And Wiggo, what do you mean by the term 'an alright Tory'. Is that possible?

Well maybe if it was Canadian or American politics but yours I haven't a clue what you are talking about.

my constituency has changed but it's still relatively safe conservative, although now our mp is julian lewis, the guy who tried to stop the freedom of information act applying to mps so we couldn't see their expenses claims. Anyone round here who hates the tories and has any sense would vote lib dem because labour have no chance

Ken Clarke is most certainly one of the better Tory politicians. In fact he's one of the better politicians cross-party

Proportional representation is bad for a couple of reasons.
a) it would give the BNP about 10 seats in parliament
b) it would mean Plaid Cymru and the SNP lost alot of seats, reducing the diversity of parliament
There are much fairer voting systems, such as the one where you rate every candidate out of ten and they pick the candidate with the highest average.
Unfortunately they don't use that because it is apparently to complicated for the average person, although in my opinion, if you can't write the numbers between 1 and 10 you can't be informed enough to vote properly anyway.
As much as we'd hate it, there is a significant minority who do support the BNP. In a democratic country, we can't just use a voting system not to let them just because of their views. And whilst Plaid Cymru and the SNP would get less seats, that's because there are less people voting for them, which kind of makes sense.
But there a lot of more fairer systems. No system is anywhere close to perfect, but our politics only seems to allow us to progress one small step at a time...

Sorry to break up this politics again but. Are we allowed to change our usernames? I tried on my edit profile and that didnt work so I PMed Cruetrue. HE hasn't answered yet though. (Not complaining just simply explaining) I really want to change my username as I hate repping for Valverde.
Edit: I can delete this post later if you like.

We used to be able to do it, but I'm fairly sure you need to PM CrueTrue now to get it changed

I'm sorry for now answering. Got a whole bunch of unanswered PMs that I still need to get through.
We do not allow changing user names unless there's a really good reason for it. |

Ok thanks. I totally understand. You must get like 40 PMs a day.
I don't think my reason's good enough.
