you really have a different view on autisme then I have. I have no problem playing older games while I don't have any trouble playing newer games (I play PCM06 and PCM10 or instance) while I have austime. then again autisme is a collective name for a lot of things

I agree with the decisions, I guess.
Have the same thing when a new game coming out, and I can't keep playing the old game then. That's why my Kelderman story was a no-go(For now )
I'd indeed wait for the patch that fixes most of the bugs before you start a PCM 13 story.
Curious what you come up with, You know that I'll probably follow anyway

Of course. Another story bites the dust.
For Christ's sake. Do you really expect a full PCM and a full expansion pack the day it's released? End another good story. Fine. I guess it's your decision, but what's the point of a story if after the game year ends so is it. Look at Monster Energy. Did he care about the new game to end it?

In my opinion, you should start a new story when there is a good database out for download

Thanks for all the helpful comments. Like I said, nothing decided yet, I just wanted to run it by you all. Only time will tell what'll happen. But for now there's no need to worry.
I guess most of it will depend on the new game. If in some way it's obviously much better with improved manager + gameplay + graphics + bug-free, the decision will be easily made. If not, and the changes are only minimal, I find this story way more important than a little better gameplay.
I will quick-sim Oman tomorrow morning and try to race the Omloop.

About PCM 13. My own personal plan is to have 1 story as well, but that is easier said than done for me.
Whatever I decide on for PCM12 right now, my hope is that I finish 1 season by about Mid-July or Start of August, because thats likely around when the game will be patched (or patched enough to be reliable to start long careers), and thus a good DB will be released.
I remember last year, I started my story thread in June a few days after the release of PCM 12 and then I waited almost 3 months or maybe even more before the final patches and good dbs were out. So thats why I think it doesn't hurt to have a bit of overlap with PCM 12 and 13.
In my view PCM isn't a finished product until you get a good db

Well, the problem is I never download databases except a realname database. My computer never seems to handle big downloads well, so I steer clear of them.
But good point on the patches. |

Well, you may be right.
I guess it's just part of me that thinks people will get bored of this because 1) Stijn's now 26 so his glory years await and 2) this is an older game. The combination of that might make people bored, I think.
But in the end, I guess I'm gonna have to trust my followers. You're right baseball, I'll try to continue this much longer |

Tour of Oman
Unfortunately, Stijn was unable to participate. Even though his participation was planned and he himself was packed to go, a nasty cold got the better of him. Team doctor decided against going in order not to screw up his further season. Stijn's reached the age where he's wise enough to listen to the doctor. Instead, Team Garmin - Sharp sent a team surrounding GT podium rider Willy.
With 5 flat stages, the team had minimal work to do. Only one mountain stage was planned, where Willy seized to the victory with a excruciating jump 400 meters from the finish, Welshman Thomas a surprising second.

Stijn made the right decision not to come. In the meantime he's healed up and ready for the Belgian opening weekend. With Cancellara and Boonen getting quite old, in cycling years, Stijn is the absolute favorite. Luckily we have the team to support that.
Willy is looking strong, too. Paris - Nice will definitely see an unchained Wouters. He's more focused than ever and I feel pity for whoever will be up against him in this year's Tour de France!
Stijn Van Gent celebrated his 26th birthday yesterday (22/02). We wish him a good year. The World Champion said he wanted to win the Omloop for a present. Let's work together and make that happen!
See you there,
Stijn & Willy |

krisa - Indeed
Slight chance of plan. Weather forecast changed its mind so finally a day with decent temperatures and no rain: I'll go for a quick ride, can't pass up this opportunity.
So I'll go for a ride first and watch the Giro then. I'll try to squeeze the Omloop in, though |

First of all, I'd like to thank krisa for sending me the Garmin - Sharp World Champion jersey. It looks amazing, so thanks a lot!
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2016
Welcome at the start of the Belgian Cycling Year!
As tradition prescribes, the first Belgian race of the year is the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, formerly known as the Omloop Het Volk, or Gent - Gent.
This year, the profile is not that different from the last years. With the toughest sections around two-thirds in the race, a sprint is expected. But only the strongest can survive.
Stijn: With a team like this, I intend to make the race tough. I expect a sprint so I will save energy for the finale.
Stijn Van Gent
I was focused and ready for the start. No rain today, so making the race tough would have to come entirely from us riders.
Dutch team mate Van Zandbeek managed to get in the break. Great news for us, we could all save ourselves for later in the race.
BMC had a lot of confidence in the aging Cancellara. They controlled the race and never gave the break more than 5 minutes lead.
80 km left to go. Time for our battle plan. First part of our plan: send Phinney ahead!
BMC lost three man in the chase. When Phinney was caught, he drove up the pace, what a strong man!
An unlucky streak as Vanmarcke had a flat tire and Nuyens ended up in the ditch alongside the road. Suddenly I was pretty isolated, so I stayed at the front to keep an overview. Remember, no communications in this non-WT race.
A group of 27 was heading towards the finish. Luckily, the pace was high enough to dissuade some riders into attacking. I had good legs and thought I had about 60% of winning now!
But I had to handle the sprint well. Phinney was in the group but was completely empty. No worry. Some, like Devolder, started the sprint early. I knew I had to sprint smart, so I started my sprint in the slipstream of those who went early, still not going at 100%
And then I made my move!
Boasson Hagen came up for a sprint battle. He was going faster than me!
But he had timed too early and couldn't handle the speed he was going!
Victory!

Flash interview:
Sporza: Stijn Van Gent, congratulations! Another victory here in Ghent, how does it feel?
Van Gent: It's amazing. This is one of the greatest victories in my career. Winning here, in Gent, practically my home town, in this jersey. I've never dreamed of it.
Sporza: How was the race?
Van Gent: It's very warm for the time of the year. There wasn't any rain so everyone expected a sprint finish. I sent some men ahead to put some pressure on the other teams, so I'd like to thank the entire team today!
Sporza: At one point, Phinney was almost gone.
Van Gent: He was. He's just amazingly strong. Like I said, the entire team is so amazing. This is the strongest squad that I've ever had in these races.
Sporza: If you could have one sure victory this year, what would it be?
Van Gent: My dream since I was 8 years old was to win the Ronde Van Vlaanderen in the World Champion Jersey. The fact that the race finishes in Oudenaarde since 2012, makes it even more perfect, my home town.
Sporza: Enjoy your victory, and congratulations once again.
Van Gent: Thanks!
Looks like I handled my cold well! This year started with a blast, let's hope I can keep on blasting throughout the entire year! With a team like this, I can see it happening. So here are the guys, the amazing team, in a big thank you: Phinney, Vanmarcke, Nuyens, Dassy, Farrar, Van Zandbeek and Schoonbroodt! Thanks guys!
See you tomorrow,
Stijn |
