It was the wettest winter on record here. Made me realise quite how horrible it can be cycling in the rain for anything over a couple of hours. |

In cooler news: I got attacked by a goose today while in the downhill. Scared for life now.
Having hit a chicken and broken my front wheel, I understand your pain. Bird strike is not just an airplane problem
Did it make a clucking sound as you hit it? Oh, and did it survive?
A year or so ago I was on a steep downhill and hit a kangaroo. Scariest experience of my life.
Whoa! Hitting a roo can cause serious damage, done it a few times in a car including one where the car didn't make it. I know a guy who was doing his Everest attempt and hit one and broke a few bones
Sorry, only seeing this now.
I saw it to the side of the road a fair distance ahead of me and the stupid thing just casually hopped out right as I got close to it. I hit it's back end and then ran over its tail. Came out of it completely fine, kept myself up as well thankfully. I stopped in disbelief after that
That sucks. Is he back up and riding again?

I'm so fucking sick of strava, it ended my ride prematurly not for the first time, not for the second time, but for the third time this month alone. this time it crashed ended for no reason. I only unlocked my phone to see how much battery it still has

Try Endomondo and just export to gpx then import to Strava - it's only a few extra clicks and worked flawlessly for me for months (and some others here too if memory serves). |

Or get a device designed to record cycling and physical activities via GPS and not a mock up device actually designed to take and make phone calls.

It's been great having a decent Spring this year, especially after the 2 months of solid rain that preceded it
Yeh it felt so good to be out in summer gear, this time last year I was still riding in my winter gear

Yeah weather didn't pick up until June or even July last year. Thank goodness that hasn't been repeated!

Do you "re-open" strava when you "leave" the program? Because that ends the ride and starts a new one. You should always do it over the "tab-function".

sort of, I always put my tablet (I sorta forgot that my tablet ain't a phone ) on screen save mode immediatly after I start recording, so that if I unlock the safety it then starts up strava.
also, I just noticed that I got sunburn on my arms. I have been at home for about 3 and a houlf hours and I just noticed XD first sunburn of the season

For anything up to an hour I can agree with you, anything longer = freezing hands and feet when the temperatures are still in single figures. I decided I didn't enjoy not being able to brake or change gear

Same situation here! I really enjoy riding in the rain, even if it is some longer 2h+ ride.

I think I need better wet weather gear either that or I'm thinking of cooler winter weather - actually even 10C feels like -10C after 2 hours of being soaked.
Give it a few weeks and even warmer weather and I'll probably be the first to pray for rain - I could just be soft |

Don't ever joke with -10C. Come and discuss temperature later when the water in your bottles have frozen. |

Perhaps you should take Vodka on a ride instead?

I've always hated cycling in the rain. I don't really mind when it comes to running, but cycling : meh.
You can't brake or curve properly, you waste your brake shoes, and face an increased risk of fall. Also, if riding in a group, you'll get water projections on your face/in your mouth, and not only rain but a part of the dirt that soils the roads.
And once you're eventually at home, it'll take like one hour to clean the whole bike. Not even mentioning the shoes, helmet, etc.
I bloody hate it. |
