Completely agree
Damn you guys!!!!! It's all because you said this .
So From being hunted, we'll become the hunters. But Antón will be 1 tough nut to crack, as he's the 2nd best climber besides Gesink. We have to minimize the time loss, and crush in the MTT and ITT...

Why should we?? Gesink crashed in adescend at more than 50 km/h, and Anton attacked 11km after the crash. So the answer is: NO

Your team is too good.If Andy,De Gendt and Bos will leave the team, you should replace them with average riders like Porte,Van Garderen or Dupont.Gesink stats are overrated.Especially MO stats.84 is too much.Nibali as well.82 is enough for them.

I know my team is too good. That's why I don't offer Schleck a new contract, and don't want to spend too much loan to Bos and De Gendt. Schleck gets replaced by Kelderman for the stage races, and I wantto bring some young riders in it.
And about Gesinks stats... Development, can't help it.

Stage 12
The 2nd mountain stage brings the rider from Schio to Asiogo, over the Monte Grappa. The final climb is way easier.
First the good news: Gesink has no fractures and will start the 12th stage. Then the bad news: he has multiple contusions (wrist and back) and has to minimize is loss today.
75km to go
Already in the ascend of the Monte Grappa (18.9km at 7.9%), Kanstantsin Siutsou has attacked out of the peloton, shortly after a 16-rider breakaway has been caught. The SKy-rider gets countered by 2, namely Francesco Masciarelli (Astana) and Giovanni Visconti (BMC).
63km to go
Shortly before the summit, Visconti has to let the other 2 go and won't catch them again. Thiago Machado, who has attacked out of the peloton too late, follows at 6'35 and the peloton at 7'52.
30km to go
Masciarelli and Siutsou cooperate very wel and manage to keep a nice margin to the peloton before the foot of the final climb, the Tortina (10.4km at 5.7%). Visconti follows at 1'43, Machyado at 6'32 and the peloton at 9'26.
27km to go
When the peloton starts the final climb, José Rujano (GC's 5th) is the first to attack, countered by Janez Brajkovic (8th) and Mikel Nieve (9th). Also GC-leader Igor Antón attacks and we can't follow this one...
23km to go
The pace in the peloton increases, mostly thanks to Wilco Kelderman, and all attackers get caught. With 23km to go, 8'28 behind the 2 leaders, Scarponi launches another series of attacks.
18km to go
This is the sign for Antón to launch another fierce attack, and again, nobody can follow him. He arives at the summit 6'43 behind Masciarelli and Siutsou, and has a gap of 40 seconds to the chasing peloton.
15km to go
This is too much for Robert Gesink and he gets dropped, joined by Thomas De Gendt. THe number 2 of the GC has a bad day (daily form -5) and together with riders as Pierre Rolland and Rein Taaramäe, they have to let a group of 18 go.
Finish
Masciarelli was the stongest in the climb, and also the stongest in the sprint for the win. He takes his 2nd win in 2013, besides a stage win in the Tirreno! Siutsou gets second.
Giovanni Visconti beats Igor Antón for the 3rd place at 3'03. The maglia rosa wins another 27 seconds, as the group with Kelderman, Nieve, Basso, Evans, Rujano, Danielson, Le Mével, Scarponi etcetra finishes at 3'30.
De Gendt & Gesink loose another 1'50, as they arrive in the company of Hesjedal and Taaramaë at 5'20,

Word from the DS
How great the first week was of the Giro for us, how bad things are going right now. Antón has it all under control. We really fear tomorrow's stage with the Passo Croce Domini and finish at the Plan di Montecampione....

You should start thinking about letting Gesink go as leader in Italy. Maybe even get him out of the race? Wouldn't it be better to let him recover and then send him to TDF of Vuelta? |

He'll race the TDF, together with Andy Schleck. It depends hw the next stage goes, if he'll stay or not...

Stage 13
The 13th stage from Trento to the summit of the Plan di Montecampione is a very difficult 172km mountain stage. It features 2 giant climbs, the Passo di Croce Domini (26.0km at 6.0%, 62km before finish) and the Plan die Montecampione (20.5km at 7.9%). The riders will face 4339 height metres and finishes at an altitude of 1951m.
61km to go
The riders have started the ascend of the Passo di Croce Domini and the BOTD has been smashed into many groups in the ascend. The 3 best climbers in this group arrive at the summit, with Thiago Machado (Radio Shack), leading Daniel Teklehaimanot (FDJ) and Jan Bakelandts (Lotto). A group with Kanstantsin Siutsou (Sky), Giampaolo Caruso (Katusha), Simon Spilak (Lampre) and Giovanni Visconti (BMC), that has attacked out of the peloton earlier in the ascend, follows at 2'36, with the peloton following at 6'31.
A 2nd peloton is riding at 11 minutes. Marcel Kittel is leading this group, in front of..... Joaquím Rodríguez! Purito is having a bad day again in this Giro.
17km to go
The 3 leaders have started the ascend of today's final climb, the Plan di Montecampione. Already after 3 kilometres, the group has become solo riders, with Thiago Machado being the stringest climber. The group Caruso-Siutsou-Spilak-Visconti follows at 1'22 and the peloton at 3'48.
16km to go
After only 4 kilometres of climbing, Igor Antón is testing his opponents. And what was expected, is that nobody can or wants to follow him. With this acceleration, he has decreased the gap to Machado to 2'56 and decreases his pace a bit, to see what damage he caused with his attack.
13km to go
And the stuation does not look good for the 2 best ranked Monster Energy - Subway riders. Whereas Robert Gesink can position himself in the first group, including Antón, Evans, Rujano, Basso, Nieve, Scarponi etcetra (2'07 behind Machado), both Wilco Kelderman (daily form -5) and Thomas De Gendt (daily form -3) have been dropped and ride '42 behind the first group.
11km to go
11 kilometres before the summit, Thiago Machado is leading with 1'34 to the chasing group of 4 that is about to get caught by the group of favourites. At this moment, Michele Scarponi attacks, and gets countered by Ivan Basso and Janez Brajkovic. But none of them has got the legs to create a gap.
7km to go
It takes 4 more kilometres before Machado gets caught by this group of 19 riders. Robert Gesink is still in this group, although he starts to struggle. The group with Wilco Kelderman is loosing more and more time, already at 2'32, while the group De Gendt follows at 3'09.
3km to go
Gesink is slowly getting better and better, and can stay in the group of favourites untill 3km to go. At this point, he has to let them go, together with Basso and Plaza. With 2 flat stages and a rest day to come, he will stay in the Giro for sure!
1500m to go
The question was not if but when Antón attacks. He does it with only 1500m to go and again nobody can follow him.
Finish
So Igor Antón claims his 3rd stage win in this Giro. The only 2 who are able to finish within 40 seconds are José Rujano and Christophe Le Mével. A group with Nieve, Brajkovic, Evans, Scarponi, Sánchez and Danielson finishes at '59. Gesink finishes in 14th at 2'15, Kelderman in 25th at 4'21 and De Gendt in 30th at 5'30.
21 riders finish outside the time limit, so riders as Mark Renshaw, Borut Bozic and William Bonnet have to leave the Giro.

Word from the DS
Again a pretty black day for the team, with Kelderman and De Gendt loosing many minutes, with both having a very weak day. But looking positive, we can say that Gesink his form starts to increase again. We really need the 2 following easy stages before the 40km mountain TT to recover.

it's a shame that Gesink had to crash in that descent. Atleast he has almost recovered and it looks like he could still take 2nd. Go for a podium with him and Kelderman.

If Gesink's form comes back to what it was before the crash you might have a very small chance to get the win, but you need to do some Hard Attacking, and expect Antón to have a very bad day at the ITT.
I just had one of these to wish you some luck:

It's safe to say: Monster domination is over. Now you can go and hunt that 1st place, Anton is a tough one! |
