Yeah, Indurain taking doping is so surprisive, like snow in the winter.
Iirc, we had recently the same miracle change from top notch TTist into the great climber and TdF winner, while he remained best TTist, what was his name?
I also noticed this rider, who is really young, but seems to be dominant at anything he chooses and was riding and working with Italians. Can't recall his name though, any ideas?
You mean that terribly dominant rider, who is so dominant that he hasn't won any big race?

Also completed it, but have my doubts if they will look through the answers of a "cycling fan, amateur cyclist"
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Give him his credit, green jersey at the Tour de France is pretty big... |

It is a good feat, but no, it's not a big win. Those are called secondary classifications for a reason.
And of course it's not a 'race'.

In all fairness, he didn't say race, you did . And I think it's a pretty big win but I guess that's subjective. |

Still i cant see the relevance to Indurain TMM??? There was talk about great TTists becoming great climbers and staying the best TTists. What it has to do with Sagan?
And i hope that kumazan is joking with green jersey not being big win...if not, i hope Peter will teach him a lesson in March or April.

It had nothing to do with Indurain what so ever
But i've decided that ever time someone implies a Brit is doping, then i'll imply back. And i knew Sagan was perfect for you
Also i did that UCI survey.... Wow it was bad! Or that might just have been poor French to English translation

Not joking. And I really hope he does get his first big win in March, somewhere in the Ligurian coast.

But my post you reacted to, reffered to the post of Aquarius concerning Indurain, maybe it was not clear, as i fogot to quote that.
Sorry.

Igor Makarov has said that the only reason there is no Tour of Russia is because the UCI is asking for €7,000,000 in license fees (which go to a private company)

It's not like that's been known since 1986 or anything.
Way to go cyclingnews! Reporting "news" from before I was born.

Ask Rominger what he thinks about the fact that Indurain was using doping.
(He is so funny if he has to speak about doping of others because he was using it himself. You can hear it in every word he says or better does not say.)
He'll say what he always says when asked about Induráin: "The difference is that Miguel wins and I don't". Rominger's quite humble. If only he'd stop with the bullshit denials.

Well, that was cathartic...

Anyone know how late Paris - Nice (prologue) starts? Or when the favorites start? |

I'm less shocked by climbers able to TT than by TT riders suddenly able to climb though.
Climbing is about W/kg, whereas TTing is about W/m².
The second can "easily" be worked thanks to aerodynamics, etc. Of course it takes some time the Schlecks won't spend, but Sky or any pro with ambitions will.
Suddenly improving the first (W/kg) looks much less natural when you're already a good pro. It's close to not plausible.
It'd be possible to maintain a level in TT and to improve climbing by improving weight as much as aerodynamics, but in Wiggo's case, it's hard to believe he had poor aerodynamics before, given he was already pursuit World Champion and a renowned prologue/TT rider. |

Niyonshuti has a blood clot and could miss most of the season...
Also been reading around the internet that the World Tour is going to have a massive overhaul or stop altogether at the end of this season, although sources are not reliable at all, just things I've read on other forums.
Developing it into more of a traditional "league" where the same teams all race together and there are no over-lapping races and the scoring systems will be easier to follow. The focus seems to be on making it easier to follow for the casual fan.

I reckon I'd feel a little confused if Paris-Nice & Tirenno, or Dauphiné & Suisse stopped overhauling each other, but well... |

I hope they keep this way! That's a bad decision, hope they don't go through with it... In fact, I think they should have more WT races, some minor stage races during a Grand Tour, for the "lesser" riders. |

Vacansoleil are yet to decide whether or not to continue on their sponsorship of the team. Will make a decision in April.

I thought the World Tour was finaly going the right way, no idea why they want this "Champions League of cycling".
What needs to change in the World Tour is to make it slightly bigger. Upgrade California to WT as well, so there's also an American stage race (which is much more interesting than TDU or Beijing as well). Maybe a Middle-East race as well, Oman perhaps? San Luis and Gabon could be added as well. And to balance add a few more classic races that deserve WT status based on history and participating field: Paris-Tours, Oploop Het Nieuwblad, Dwars Door Vlaanderen, Brabantse Pijl, Gran Piemonte, Milano-Turino.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
