I think Hart is winning this Giro. He's a better TT'ist than Hindley and I think Ineos are going to go full nuclear on Sestriere.
I'm sad because Almeida lost the jersey, but he still did an incredible performance. Thank you João. Allez! |

Kelderman is still the favourite. Seriously. The new version of stage 20 is not that hard and stage 21 is an ITT, where Kelderman is much better than the other two.

Agree. With that in mind Sunweb could have stopped Hindley and allowed Kelderman to save some time. Now they are 1-2 but with a thin gap.
Hard call anyway. |

Actually checked the results fo stage 14 and Tao did better than I expected, losing 37 seconds over 34.1 km. The final ITT is 15.7 km. So he can still win this, but Kelderman still the biggest favourite.

So what are the odds Hindley suddenly destroys everyone in the TT?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Kelderman leaving sunweb probably affected the decision to not call Hindley back.
Still it never seems to be a good idea to try to have it both ways. Either call him back or let him go. (Though it's possible that Hindley had the green light but didn't feel that comfortable)
"He made a bigger comeback than Easter Sunday."

Knowing Brailsford, Ineos will go full bonkers on Saturday even if it’s not the hardest of climbs.
A word for Almeida, big champion and the pride of Portugal. Forget João Felix, this man is the real golden boy. also I think Masnada was counting on a little bit more freedom at the Giro... certainly not expecting he’d end up working for a teammate and not focus on breakaways. |

I certainly think we'll see attacks on Stage 20. Sunweb don't look to have team strength to control the race compared to Ineos. And Bilbao is not out of this either. I'd see both of them putting big pressure on knowing they can't out TT Wilco.
I'll be glued to it on Saturday! Bit of a slow burn GC contest has suddenly become a potential record breaking race

I never thought I would root for a Sky rider to win this race 20 days ago, but apparently here we are.
Actually, I just hope Kelderman doesn't win this after such a weak showing on the queen stage.

Also, a shoutout to Pello Bilbao for finishing 3rd today and moving up to 4th overall, now only 1:19 behind. All this after riding the Tour.

Sunweb wtf?
Almeida what a champion! - It's really anoying watching Eurosport Portugal though. Wishful thinking the whole stage: 1min "he can still do this"; 2min: "He's not so far behind, where is Masnada?"; 3 min: "KELDERMAN IS LOSING TIME OMG!; 4 min: "He's still not giving up, if only there were more riders in his group, he just needs to catch Bilbao/Nibali"
But seriously Sunweb. Wtf?

All in all, another incredible performance by Tao Geoghegan Hart and Jai Hindley, without a doubt the two strongest climbers of this Giro. And this time it was Rohan Dennis accompanying them, for his best ever climbing performance. Staggering.

Somebody write this down but I think Ineos will go after Hindley next year. Could be one of those posts that age well, but still. |

Kind of ironic after the ridiculous stage yesterday that a rider whose best result in the last two years is a 19th place gets busted.
Today's stage cut in half after a rider protest due to length of the original stage |
