Not looking that good for me too. Main problem is my sprint spearhead has been blunted with Gaviria's sore knee withdrawal and the trials and tribulations of signor Viviani - most notably the 100 point swing from his dq that means he won’t finish the Giro as he normally would (7 of 8 GT’s completed until now...).
That’s the main problem...alongside MAL’s TT implosion and Conti leading, meaning Polanc will spend energy and not be allowed off the leash to use his good shape

Conti will lose the jersey on the first mountain stage. Plenty of stages for Polanc to come good. My Giro is also hinged on Izagirre coming alive in the mountains.
At least I didn't have Dumoulin

Possibly but how much work will Polanc have done before that time and how much will that take out of him? Possibly for Izagirre too but how much leeway will he get (story of his career, except when he crashed out of stage 1 in the Tour when leading Bahrain?!) with MAL and now Bilbao to look after? Time will tell.

All this whining, and then Polanc decides to go and get the pink jersey himself
For my team, I'm in for a struggle this Giro, with both Moschetti and De Plus out of the race. Especially the latter, as he was supposed to sit high in the GC until today and maybe even longer. Kind of annoying that sickness got the better of him, as I'm convinced he was ready to show himself in the high mountains as well, as Roglic's main man. |

Ha Well played by UAE but pales in comparison to the most battling of wins from Benedetti - lost count of how many times he got dropped and made it back

Just a quick one to let you know I'll be in Greece for a week from Tuesday. Back in work on 6th June so I'll get the table updated once I get back.

Congrats to Ian's Fratelli who - I believe, bar any strange update - has won Giro fantasy league (and probrably cut distances to ember), with a team who invested in the most expensive sprinters - Ackermann was the best choice though - but with a smashing Carapaz, Masnada, Cattaneo, Nibali and Lopez, as well as Polanc, have proven that was enough against most of the guys who forgot Carapaz (like me ) or went with Yates/Roglic instead. Kudos!
On a personal note, 13th is a nice result (also because Madouas placed the same on the GC ) and my best performance in GT lately, considering Dumoulin's injury and De Plus' illness. Not a total debacle, but hoping to creep back to the top 10 again. |

Kinda bittersweet. Super happy with a second spot behind the Velogames champ. Still a shame that my top pick Dumoulin had to abondon early, but that's part of the game. |

Congrat Ian Russell,
you stand out as a master as always. Good on you mate.
My team started out very poorly but steadily got back well enough not to drop right of the top placings in our leaderboard.
Still holding on to a 8th place in VG Season Championship and that is a surprise, but think ember lost his overall 1st place.

Thanks folks, it's nice to win a GT, especially one that's often not gone that well for me. As ever so much good fortune required in the 3 week races!
Bit of a strange one really, given I invested heavily in the many early sprint stages with Viviani and Gaviria but both were disappointing one way or another (though not totally disastrous).
Carapaz and Nibali did all I hoped they would and a little more, given I was expecting Roglic to take the overall and the three TT's created uncertainty with their varying degrees of undulation.
Breakaway picks did rather well in the Androni duo of Masnada and Cattaneo alongside Polanc and least of all de Gendt (surprising given the amount of successful breaks but then lots of purer climbers going up the road all Giro).
Then there was Lopez...I guess good points considering all the trials and tribulations! Punctures, TT implosions (and punctures), more punctures (one even at the base of a climb before an attack where he took time) and I had a good hour+ of wondering if he'd be kicked for double slapping the idiot...
Made up some ground on the top 2 (super close between them now!) but well shy of the bonus points that would've put me firmly back in the frame.

Delighted to make 5th place with a team with 2 abandons and be in the lead for a few days.
Congrats to Ian.

Congratulations to Ian for wining the Giro fantasy game. Formolo was a bad pick for me and cost me a few places but quite happy as I normally do very badly in the GT's. |

Dead last. Unlucky with Dumoulin and Tao Hart. Roglic and Viviani + 4 team mates not doing what I'd hope they would do. Majka faded after a promising start. It didn't even feel that bad but here we are.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks again all. It was a real shame Dumoulin wasn't in the mix as well...but hopefully that'll brighten up July a little!
Mind you it's looking doubtful we will get a Velogames TdF again, thanks to the over the top corporate bullying of ASO. That attitude puts me off the whole race but Dumoulin being there will help add a little sparkle.

Congratulations, Ian! Great picks considering overall contenders and their prices, and once your team got going in the mountains, there seemed to be no looking back.
For my team, I was kind of happy going for the minimum considering sprinters, with Cimolai and Moschetti, but it all fell apart with my investment in both Roglic and Yates. Kind of happy picking Landa, but that was the wrong Movistar rider after all Must admit it didn't cross my mind to pick both. |

I'm back. League table will be updated by the end of the day hopefully.
Congrats to Ian who I assume has closed the gap to Ember. quite significantly. Looks like it could be another close battle between them this year.

Still a good way off but believe Clamel has the lead from Ember by 1!?
