I'm still hoping to promote.. maybe some more activity around here would give me even more chances for that

Good to see FDJ slightly grow their lead over the other PCT teams. A relative lack of races this part could see us lose a bit more ground but if we keep up this general level of performance then promotion will be nice and simple!
And watch for Hanzen to bounce back to the top of the EPIC rider standings after the Giro

As Dippofix still hasn't sent in anything, I had to randomise the startlist. If he remains inactive (or tells me he quits), I'll allow riders to make their own schedule again.
I can't believe I actually stumbled on this, but yeah. Since I can't even find motivation to write a proper goodbye post I've been procrastinating on quitting, I think it's inevitable. Must be the Birtles-curse.

Bardiani, Cofidis, MTN and IAM all win a few places, but nothing close to promotion just yet.
Cofidis going in the right direction, I am enjoying the racing and great reports.
Happy to see new managers joining, shame Dippo has lost motivation.

Time for the Amstel Gold Race. The weather in Limburg is awful today. It's nice weather today, and the riders are looking excited.
Quickly after the start 4 riders get away, and form the break of the day. Devolder (TFR), Akdeniz (LAM), Burghardt (BMC) and Belkov (KAT) are the names of the riders.
The escapees reach the summit of the Vaalserberg, the highest hill of the Netherlands, with a lead of about 9 minutes. We still have 145km to go, and with the lead decreasing already it seems unlikely these riders will succeed.
The gap keeps on decreasing, mainly due to the work of Cannondale for Sagan. With 50km left to ride the gap is down to just two minutes.
Finally with 45km to go we have some action again. Vanendert (LTB) tries from a long way out. It may be futile, but at least it's some entertainment.
It indeed is futile. Just 3km later he is reeled in again.
It turns out to be nothing but a prelude to a new series of attacks. This time Kwiatkowski (OPQ), Rodriguez (TCS) and Martin (GRS) attack.
Since the pack is failing to make the catch, Gerrans (OGE) is next to make the jump. BMC takes charge of the pack.
Nothing really seems to work. The 4 riders have a minute at the foot of the Keutenberg, with the break being half a minute ahead of them.
At the Keutenberg Gilbert, Sagan and Quintana make the jump as well. The chase now consists of 8 riders, as also Akdeniz has dropped back from the original break.
The group keeps getting bigger and bigger. Mollema and Uran are the next to join.
At the foot of the penultimate Cauberg, 20km from the line, the break is caught by the chase. The decimated pack is coming close though.
After the Cauberg the situation has changed dramatically though. We have just one leader left: Kwiatkowski. He's closely followed by Sagan, Gilbert and Urán. Just behind that we find Mollema. Again close behind that are Quintana, Rodriguez, Gerrans, Martin and Izagirre. Half a minute behind them is the pack.
With 10km to go Kwiatkowski is still in the lead, and he's gaining. However, the first signs of fatigue are now becoming very visible.
After the Bemelerberg, the gap is even bigger. Things are starting to look very good for Kwiatkowski.
Further behind Gerrans and Martin are caught by the pack, while the remainder of the chasers has caught Mollema. All this seems out of contention for victory though. The group of 4 itself is caught rapidly too.
Kwiat heads towards the foot of the final Cauberg with a lead of over 50s. Victory seems in the pocket.
In the chasing group, Gilbert tries one ultimate acceleration in order to catch Kwiatkowski, or at least drop Uran and Sagan.
Kwiatkowski maintains a gap at the summit, and can now start thinking of his celebration.
Gilbert and Uran have managed to get rid of Sagan in the meantime.
Kwiat raises an arm, then his second, and celebrates his victory. An impressive race by him.
Best of the rest is Gilbert, who takes 2nd ahead of Urán.
Sagan's 4th place is threatened at the final flat, as Albasini and Henao come sprinting from behind.
Sagan's lead is big enough to hang on in the end. He comes 4th, ahead of Albasini, Henao and Costa.

4th is not too bad. AGR is way too easy for Peter, for him to be even bothered to try and win. |

Decent race for us, though not anywhere near the podium goal
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Just 3 days after the Amstel Gold Race it's time for the second race in the Ardennes triple. The Fleche Wallonne is traditionally raced on the wednesday, and is thus the only of the three not
raced in the week ends.
In the year 1936 the Fleche Wallonne was first organised. The race was not very prestigious at the time, or at least the winner, Philippe de Meersman wasn't, as I couldn't find a good picture of him.
The race has three record winners. In the war time, 1943-1945, Belgian legend Marcel Kint, won the race three consecutive editions.
After him, only three other riders managed to win the race three times, namely Eddy Merckx, Moreno Argentin and Davide Rebellin, but neither managed to do this in three consecutive years. In fact, apart from Kint, only two riders managed to win two consecutive editions: Ferdi Kübler and Moreno Argentin.
Since 1985, the finish has been placed at the summit of the horrible Mur de Huy. The organisation of the race wanted reigning world champion Claude Criquielion as the winner of the race, and thus made the race suitable for him. 'Cri-Cri' did not disappoint.
Last year, a small group sprinted for victory on the last ascent of the Mur. In a close sprint, Peter Sagan, who later on won Liege-Bastogne-Liege, beat Philippe Gilbert, Daniel Martin and Alejandro Valverde at the summit.
The race, under 200km long, exceptionally short for such a classic race, is mainly based on the Mur de Huy. The previously mentioned climb will be ascended three times, including on the way to the finish. With an average percentage of 9.3% and a maximum slope of over 18%, the climb is not exactly an easy one. There's no doubt the race will be decided here.
**** Joaquim Rodriguez | *** Peter Sagan, Michal Kwiatkowski | ** Daniel Martin, Rui Costa, Philippe Gilbert | * Rigoberto Uran, Bauke Mollema, Ion Izagirre, Sergio Henao |
(please note Juraj Sagan is displayed in this startlist, I found out in time, in the race it's Peter racing)
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
