Pls just get a podium. This is his last chance for sure.
Ya, i wonder if someone is now regretting they didnt take Quintana instead. |

I think it was the right decision to let Quintana win a relatively easy Giro d' Italia (competition-wise) and potentially a Vuelta with a very strong team back him up (I assume Jose Herrada and Antón will be in top shape and Valverde who indeed has high hopes of Quintana and wants to help him).
If Valverde gets podium, success. If he doesnt and Nairo wins the Vuelta, success. If they both succeed (which isnt unrealistic at all), there you have the best season in 20 years for Movistar. |

Quintana's already won a GT this year and will probably get atleast a podium in another one. If Valv can hold on to a Top 5 (which was probably his goal going into the race) it would be acceptable.
I just want him to get a podium so bad. He's been good for so long, but a Tour podium has been so elusive to him and he always seems to mess things up somehow on one or two mountain stages when he is close. He's crashed at bad times in several previous grand Tours which if you subtract lost time directly from those crashes would have given him a Tour podium and maybe another GT win. I just want to see him on the podium at the end.

This stage was pretty good, I saw a great Nibali once again and also Peraud is in the best shape he's ever been atm. Mollema and Ten Dam decent, Ten Dam showing better shape every day and Mollema is at his level, around 7th-10th. A bit disappointed but still good.
Peraud is in the same shape as he was last year. He crashed out of the 17th stage after being in 9th GC.
The competition is just worse this season, so he might actually get a top 5.

Meh, today for the first time I think it's safe to say Mollema was NOT at his level. Mollema at his level would have finished around 10th place with Ten Dam.
Today he was clearly worse. I think the illness in the first week keeps him from reaching top form. Unfortunately things will only get worse from now on. Best for Mollema is to either take a total rest day, let the peloton go, and try a stage win. But it's probably too early for Belkin to give up 7th place so they will force him to keep riding GC.
Ten Dam looks much better tho
I honestly think Mollema is around his maximum. Ten Dam is the better climber of the two, Mollema is not on top form, but TVG, Bardet, Pinot, Valverde and even Peraud are better than him even when he is in form. So in this field he is exactly what I expected. I expected him to be in better shape but yeah, he never reaches his top form this Tour unfortunately. We´ll see.
Ofcourse those first 6 are better. But Mollema on top form would for sure finish with Ten Dam. I'm 100% sure of it. He's simply not there. He is getting much worse each day even. It's not normal compared to the Vuelta 2011 or Tour 2013. |

It still kind of is. Stage win is nice..but he is still young rider 2. GT's to row is not good idea.
Zaugg had been still more realistic choice if we looking great helper. |

I dont know why are people so surprised with Schleck performance. Have u allready forgotten what a Ridr in his last Year contract is capable of??? Cobo, Froome or Horner at Vuelta??? Wouldnt be surpeise Schleck gets a top 5 here and then wins La Vuelta |

Richie Porte has been suffering with a chest infection since the race hit the mountains. Would obviously explain his poor performance the past two days.

Hoping that Pinot, Bardet and Peraud will be top 5. Ten Dam looked quite strong today compared to Mollema.

chest infection, sounds familiar. Didn't know Froome could transfer his badzilla to other riders within the team.
Good news is, once recovered Porte will become a new freak of nature doing 900w sprints uphill. That's after all what happened with froome after badzilla |

Great riding by Tejay! He could realistically get 2nd if he stays consistent and gains a few more seconds. best time trialist in the top 5.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Bit difficult to know how genuine all the sickness claims are in GT's. I'm sure some performances are genuinely down to being under the weather but it also seems to be the default excuse for any under par performance. |

Cadel Evans and his mysterious illnesses come to mind, whether legitimate or not. The more it happens the less it is down to chance\illness and the more it is lacking the recovery over three weeks to be a legitimate contender.

LOL Porte
I have absolute no clue why anyone talk about him as a GC winner.
And the "disease" is just a bad excuse.
Well, at least he has some help in the motorcycle, nice to have friends like that.
