Budget, what??
Nah, well spotted (though quite obvious influence here). Since we have several former Budget riders on the roster, why not steal their shirt, too? Simply loving the kit, so couldn't resist using it.
Thanks all for the positive feedback! You made a point there, cio

Wow very different from the blue and orange themed previous jerseys. This one looks more appropriate for a team about to blossom in the ProTour

Really beautiful jersey. One of the classiest teams over the years in the peloton for sure.

Might be totally different as I thought. But still a very nice jersey. I like, that you kept the "design" of this middle part with Oz Cycling even though it`s different coloured now.
Definitely a jersey to find easily in the peloton. Good job by Gaz. |

Nice jersey. Should be easy to spot in the peloton, which IMO is quite important for a MG jersey. Good looking details as well.

Lovely jersey, looks somewhat "professional" and that is a good sign to enter the PT with.

Thanks all for the positive feedback to our new shirt As said before, I fell in love with this design and thanks to -Gaz- for some minor, but significant changes/editing there!
Gerro to quit, Haas a good fit? #RumorsPartTwo
Time for the second part in The Oz's transfer rumors for the upcoming season. Just as for our first part (with Lachlan Morton and Steele Von Hoff), also our second update will focus on those Aussies, who may be of interest for our management and it's first step to ProTour next year.
We're starting with a current rider from The Oz: Simon Gerrans, 34 years old, will most probably leave our team after two seasons. The veteran couldn't really deliver this year and there's rumors, that he doesn't feel like still being competitive enough to enjoy cycling on this level. After his 10th place in the Tour Down Under and KoM-title in the Herald Sun Tour back in 2013, Gerro still had some good days with our project.
Anyway, whenever one's leaving, there's always one rumored as a replacement: Richie Porte (29) may not be a key signing for our team, but we expect him to be available for a proper transfer. With The Oz likely to face a busy off-season, guys like Porte, who made their PT-experiences, can become an important piece to the puzzle.
Gerro (front) will leave Oz for good, Porte (back) may be of interest..
As the previous two years, also Travis Meyer (25) is expected to be found on our shortlist again. Currently riding for Wikipedia, this strong finishing puncheur will surely attract many team's interest. With Matthew Goss (joining Oz from Wiki a year ago) and Luke Durbridge (loaned out to Wiki this year) in our team next season, we feel like we could have a minor advantage, if Meyer is available for a transfer.
Speaking of riders being available: Nathan Haas (25) ain't really expected to leave Risa-Ergon to join Oz as a domestique. Anyway, we've always been interested in his talents and we will surely follow the team's direction and moves in the off-season.. keep in mind, that those are just rumors and may not reflect our management's true plans of upgrading our roster.
Haas as a target for The Oz? Anything is possible..

Thanks, Roman! Agree, pretty happy how first aidan and now Gaz implented that feature on the shirt(s)
The guys, who left Oz for Goss: Drapac and Rasmussen
With the season soon to be finished, we're not just looking forward to what to come in the off-season, but also looking back to how some of our former riders performed this year. When Matthew Goss joined our team as our first truly competitive elite sprinter, it was already clear, that our 2013 sprinter-duo wouldn't stay with The Oz in 2014.
Damian Drapac though still was an official member of our squad when Goss arrived. Being on the team since 2012 (where he was loaned out to Festina immediately), Drapac was our main sprinter in the 2013 campaign. His best results were a 3rd place in the Tokyo GP (C2) and a 7th in the Eneco Tour (HC). The latter due to bonus seconds out of breakaways though.. It was pretty obvious, that Drapac was a better fit in the CT than in the heavily contested PCT, so we sold him to Bank of Ireland late in the transfer period.
We were delighted to see him enjoying a quite succesfull mid-season, where Drapac took out the Barcelona Classic and scored one of his two stage-wins this year, too (Juarez, San Luis). Though not truly dominating the CT, Drapac definitely proved his speed here and there.
Drapac taking out the first stage of the Circulo de Juarez..
Alex Rasmussen, member of our team just in the 2013 campaign, did also join a CT-team (Carlsberg) after being released by The Oz during the off-season renewals. Like Drapac, also Rasmussen scored a stage-win in Juarez (just one day after Drapac won the opener) and added a few notable results in other stages as well. It's always nice to see former Ozzies doing well, so this is a late dedication to our former sprinters' success during their CT adventure 2014!
Rasmussen winning the second stage in Juarez..

Bobridge loses win to breakaway, but goal achieved
One of our most important stage races - the Tour of Beijing - concluded today: with a Top-5 sponsor goal set prior to the season, this trip to China was a pretty unique goal-race for Oz (lacking a timetrial)!
Anyway, with Jack Bobridge amongst several others of the division's very best puncheurs taking part, we surely had a realistic chance to at least achieve this Top-5 in Beijing. Though the actual action eventually proved, that it could have went way worse than it did.
Bobridge was right there, when it came to the crucial stages: finishing 2nd behind Ulissi on the queen stage on third day was the key, as the stage (except of a 10-men-group gaining about half a minute) wasn't selective at all. So this bonus seconds were crucial. And so were Bobridge's next bonifications taken on fourth day, where went for a strong 3rd and a tied GC-lead in a tricky flat stage!
With another challenging flat parcours on final day, we could actually hope for Bobridge to grab further bonifications.. which he actually did as the stage's 3rd again: three consecutive stage-podiums! Unfortunatelly, the peloton allowed two pre-race favorites (Betancourt, Skujins) to join the break of the day and wasn't able to reel them in til the finish. While Bobridge did his job to overtake Ulissi in the GC, he eventually had to settle for a still pleasant 3rd place in the GC here. His good stage-results made him take the green jersey, too.
Definitely a missed chance to add another yellow shirt to his palmares. Let's see how he will "bounce back" in our final race: the Japan Cup.

Autumn classics #PartThree: Bobridge runner-up in Japan!
The 2014 season is officially over (except of the Worlds and Nationals still to come): Jack Bobridge finishes off his great year with a strong 2nd place in the heavily contested Japan Cup. A close miss on the win, but Di Maggio's late effort was perfectly timed to hold off an elite group led by our captain.
We will post some season reviews over the next days, but since Bobridge had such a stellar season (4th in the individual rankings, missing the podium quite close), here's also a first overview of our star's season in numbers (excluding stage results). He's been our undisputed leader this year and was surely the biggest reason for Oz to turn ProTour next year.

Incredible year for your team. Bobridge alone was awesome, but i guess that suprisingly good veterans like Rogers, Del Nero or Visconti were the key to success for Oz, together with insane amount of points coming from you TTing department, where you pawned us and others whole year.
Looking forward to see you in PT and also to hear from you during transfer season, you most likely know who i can be after and we always have some transfer chat.

Thanks, Avin. Agree about your analysis about the key(s) to our success. Rogers with his last season on a competitive level really delivered - beating Ignatiev in the Isle of Man ITT was just huge Del Nero was a great and unexpected (late) addition in the transfers. Hoping for a similar coup next off-season
Definitely looking forward to our chats then. And yeah, I know (swapping Ignatiev/Koren, right?)

Like Avin said, Bobridge had a phenomenal season! Bobridge should do fine like he is now in PT, but he can be a monster with some training in the hill department.
You should have good core for next season, and it will certainly get even stronger if a young up and coming Aussie climber ends up joining.
Congrats on the season and let's shine in PT next year!

Wonderful season for the team.
Bonsucro enjoyed giving you some anxious moments at Monterrey!
I forecast plenty of changes for you next season, as you have already eluded to here. Super looking jersey, however, with it looking so quintessentially Australian already will the Aussie NC be much different? |

@Kami: Thanks! And congrats to your season, too. Bobridge surely needs training. Transfers will already be interesting just under this aspect alone
@Rider: Thank you, too. Hard to top a season like that. Hoping for our guys to transfer the spirit over to PT!
Haven't got any NC shirts yet, but Australian Road Nats may well see Oz taking a title. I do have a rough idea for this, but won't request any shirts until the Nationals have been raced
