Mohoric to ride for Rapha-Bianchi next season
April is nearly upon us, but already Rapha-Bianchi Team Manager Phil Hoyle is thinking ahead to next season and beyond, as the Slovenian Puncheur Matej Mohoric was announced as agreeing in principal to ride for the Anglo-Italian Squad next season.
The 18 year old rider has attract some attention with his performances over the last couple of years, and Hoyle is delighted to have brought him onboard.
A Rapha-Bianchi spokesperson said: 'We are happy announce that the young Slovenian rider Matej Mohoric has agreed in principle to ride for the Rapha-Bianchi Racing Team for 2014. An agreement has been struck between the management and the rider, which will be finalised in July at the start of the Transfer Season.'
Hoyle was not present at the announce of Mahoric, having flown to London this morning, ahead of talks with Rapha bosses following the team's up and down start to the season.

Great job on getting Mohoric in the team, liking the team more and more. 
De Panne might not have been a great race, but a 2nd, 5th and 7th place finishes are not bad for the young team.  |

Rapha: We demand more!
It was a very dejected looking Phil Hoyle climbing into the back of London Taxi outside the Rapha Cycle Club in London today, after talks were demanded by the Rapha bosses to discuss the team's up and down performances this season.
Whilst the one-day races in Italy and Spain have shown the team at their best, disappointing performances in San Luis and most recently in KBC Driedaagse van De Panne-Koksijde have been a black spot on the team's record.
A Rapha Spokeperson released this statement shortly after:
We would like to clarify the reason for the urgent meeting between Rapha Directors and Team Manager Phil Hoyle today.
Whilst the team have been performing well over the course of the season, Rapha feel that there has been an inconsistency in the team's results. Both Rapha, and Co-Sponsor Bianchi, set Race Goals and Targets at the beginning of the season, to which only half have been achieved so far. Furthermore, these successful goals so far have been the ones set by Bianchi, and not Rapha.
Rapha chose their goals in races where they felt the team would perform at it's best, but that has not been the case, and the company is not receiving the publicity it would like to have.
Phil was already cast a bad name over the Rapha brand by his early season disciplinary at the Tour de San Luis, and the company will be watching both Hoyle's and team's actions very closely over the months going forward. They will then meet again and decide on whether to remain as Lead Sponsor of the team, or whether to concentrate on other projects elsewhere in cycling.
Neither Hoyle or any of his representatives were available to comment.

@mvh: glad you like the early new addition  I am big fan of his, and can't believe I missed him at the start.
The sprints were ok, but should have been a lot better on Stage 1. Whilst Ewan got 7th, Lavery was 8, Bellis 9th and Lloyd 11th... That was the entire lead out, and Ewan only just passed them all for 7th. The fact it was a hectic sprint made the result look better than it was

Still no reason for the sponsors to throw a hissy fit. It's still only end of March. With such a young team results don't come that easy.
Big fan of Mohoric too. Just have to love his descending in the WC.  |

@sutty: that may just be the case, but if are demanding more than the team is capable of, would it be a bad thing...? We won't be another Team Sky! That is not our style

Movistar's Nairo Quintana showed that he maybe an outside bet for the Tour de France, as picking up the victory in the Race to the Sun. Michel Kwiatkowski (OPQ) lead for most of the race, losing the jersey in the final Mountain ITT, settling for 2nd in GC. Andreas Kloden (RLT) rounded off the podium.

A solo attack up to the Summit Finish on Stage 4 was enough to give Vincenzo Nibali the overall victory in Italy, as he stepped up his preparation ahead of the Ardennes Classics and the Giro d'Italia. A breakaway win on stage 5 was enough for Tom Dumoulin to end up on the podium, whilst Carlos Betancur finished strongly to claim 3rd.

Less than 3 weeks to the Cobbled Classics, and it looks like Fabian Cancellara (RLT) in bang on form with a great breakaway victory in San Remo. Nick Nuyens (GRS) tried to stay with the powerful Swiss rider, and took 2nd in the process. Andre Greipel won the bunch sprint to take third.

Two from two for Boonen, as he extended his record of Vlaanderen win to 4. The Belgian looked unbeatable as he attacked on the final few climbs, leaving the entire group of favourites in his wake. Matthieu Ladagnous (FDJ) attempted to catch Boonen late on, but it was too late. Sep Vanmarcke completed the podium.

Circuit Sarthe-Pays de la Loire
1st - 4th April 2013
For the second time this season, we going into a race on the back of some bad publicity and carrying the pressures to perform. At Vuelta a Mallorca, we upped our game, and proved our doubters wrong. Sadly this time, those doubters are our own lead sponsor.
We have two clear squads for the race here in France. Linus Gerdemann will lead thesquad, like he did in De Panne, but with the hope of having better fitness and performing at a higher level. In his fight for the GC, he will be supported by Adam Yates and Simon Richardson.
Rene Mandri will lead in the sprints, but could also play a role in the GC battle depending on how he gets over the hills. His lead-out train will consist of Jonathan Bellis, Owain Doull and Damien Monier.
Nathan Earle completes the squad, and he will be giving a free role, aiming for the KoM jersey.
