Well, it is true. If they see us struggling for directions(just see, not even asking for help), they just guide us to the place we have to go. Yes guide, even walk to it with us.
Or when we asked a woman for a football stadium location(yes, asking that to a woman isn't smart ), she called her husband to ask it. etc, etc.
We were really impressed, so different from Italy & France.
Not really a surprise, most people are helpful, we just love to hate ourselves. And each other.
Although I've always found the Italians to be very helpful (outside of Venice) and most of the French.

Don't come to the states. You'll never think people are kind ever again.

My father lived there for a year and he can back this up
On the other hand, he's also lived in Australia, and that's the most friendly country he's ever been in, he says.

That's not what I've heard from people who cycle toured there.

The states are pretty big compared to most other countries. Kind of hard to generalize them when your country is barely the size of 1 of 50 states, no offense.

That's true. Generalizing is actually always bad. So I'll just say: that part of Chicago where he lived was not nice (especially when he took the bus too far with his new tv into the ghetto by accident), and the place in Australia where he stayed was awesome. Better?

Chicago is one of the worst cities in the US anyway, but Detroit of course is worse. But, you may only meet 1 nice person on a 5-day trip in the US; I've only made friends in my area really, and that list is incredibly minute at that. Stupid American culture.

Here everyone are in their own bubble. That's why I love England, Germany, France and especially Australia

Soo, I'm back from London.
Thing that strikes me the most:
Maaaaaan, British people are so nice and helpful
Well, normally I go to Italy or France, so that's where I compare with, but still
French people tend to be nice if you're capable of speaking French. If not, you're screwed big time. I even had a freaking McDonald's employee roll her eyes at me, because I didn't speak her language.
In terms of the US discussion, I haven't met an unfriendly American during my three visits. I do, however, dislike the rather dishonest "how are you" greeting that you always get. If you don't care, don't ask. Other than that, only positive experiences.

Yes. And that's the problem. My French is really bad

As someone thats travelled to the States quite a bit and played them in sports a few times as well I can say it is very drastic. Some people love to be friendly and make conversation, especially if you're Canadian, while others wouldn't because you're Canadian
Of all the states in the US I've been the only one I can remember where people were outright rude was California.
Canada gets the stereotype thrown around a lot that we are the "nice america" and stuff like that, but I dont think we are much different at all.
Japan had to be the best though. Absolutely everyone was nice and everyone was very respectful.

From Toronto, I can say it's exactly like that.

Yeah, Canada is nothing like America. You're all scared of the dark

And serial killers get a 5-minute timeout-the harshest punishment in all Canada!
