Bigs Stages - Setmana Catalana 2005
coutas98
Make it flat. The climb is long, but the overall elevation isn't that high

Schleck96
Those stages look amazing!!

Thanks.

Btw, I decided to let it classified as a medium mountain stage. The last climb is not that hard, sprinters with some hill skills can survive here. In addition to this, the AI will throw some attacks at the leader. If we look at the profile, the stage was designed for something like that. Either breakaway-group or late attack to gain some time before Ventoux. So be it this way.

Expect this evening the last stage of the Tour. Roads are made, slopes are ready. Just the landscapes and details are missing yet. Wink

Here's a first spoiler

My next project is a fantasy variant for Criterium Dauphine Libere. Wink

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 1: Chambery (ITT)
www7.pic-upload.de/24.04.14/y3p4rw278th9.jpg
www7.pic-upload.de/24.04.14/7alekufv2n1c.jpg
The Race will start with a short but nasty prologue in the town of Chambery. The course isn't just flat, as the road is rising to almost 10% at the end. This stage will require good timetrial abilities and an explosive kick for the short but steep climb towards the end.

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 2: Chambery - Voiron
www7.pic-upload.de/24.04.14/c5jzgskid6vo.jpg
www7.pic-upload.de/24.04.14/jfvkvql76it.jpg
The first and only stage for the sprinters brings the peleton from Chambery to Voiron. On the way it has to climb over five classified mountains. Even the last kilometers are slightly uphill.

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 3: Voiron - Saint Jean-en-Royans

The first test for the GC comes with the 3rd stage. The stagewinner has to overcome 5 mountain passes, two of them 1st Category and a 25km daredevil descent. The stage is designed to give us some action and some first knowledge of the strengths of the other riders. The GC isn't going to be decided on that day, but this doesn't mean that someone could make some serious time here. You can't win the Race here, but you can loose it.

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 4: Die - Embrun
www7.pic-upload.de/26.04.14/9wlfagacud42.jpg
www7.pic-upload.de/26.04.14/aef7hhr3kvdm.jpg
On stage 4 the course isn't going much easier, its an steady up and down and even when the roads seems flat, it's actually going slightly uphill. The eight mountain passes the peleton has to climb should make this stage really interesting.

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 5: Guillestre - Point Ravier (Valloire)
www7.pic-upload.de/26.04.14/qlt4fmwjvd4z.jpg
www7.pic-upload.de/26.04.14/u25yv8tb7rav.jpg
With stage 5 the peleton has to overcome two of the most famous alpine passes. After the start in Guillestre its the Col d'Izioard quickly followed by the Col du Galibier. The stage was originally planned as a downhill finish in Valloire, but since the last two stages are downhill as well, I decided to bring in some short but extremely steep climb after 100km of racing at the end.

Critérium du Dauphiné Variant
Stage 6: La Chambre - Flaine
www7.pic-upload.de/27.04.14/z1rs32dmrmpz.jpg
www7.pic-upload.de/27.04.14/skbna434rvq.jpg
On stage 6 we're heading north towards the small town of Flaine. To get there we have to climb over five mountain passes, including the Col de Pierre Carreé, a 20km HC-climb. From there it's just a few downhill kilometers to the finish in Flaine.
