Basso is also aiming at Firenze btw, says Nibali hasn't secured the Italian leadership yet

Funny guy, he is. Basso winning the worlds would be quite a sight.

You have to remember no rider ever admits they're past their best.

Cadel blames viruses and says he'll be back soon.
Contador says he's 'not at my best YET'
Basso swears he totally had more power in training
Antón blames tiring himself too much in preparation

They will always have an excuse. Always. To my knowledge no rider has ever just admitted 'I'm not as good anymore'

I'm probably guessing he didn't get the memo from all the forum geeks out there about ensuring he didn't miss the smiley off the end.

A little tongue-in-cheek humour I would imagine.

I knew Froome was arrogant before but he takes it to new heights now.

And ya he gets more and more like Armstromg in arrogance level.

Indeed - I read an article where he said something similar, openly criticising Contador for taking risks... I mean dafuq? How else is he going to beat him if he doesn't take risks?

Strong possibility Pinot has mononucleosis.

If it's confirmed, his nightmare season is over.

If Contador should stop taking risks on the downhill, maybe Froome should stop taking risks on the mountains

I guess Froome's speed on Ventoux when he attacked was comparable to Contador's speed on the downhill yesterday Pfft

If he keeps this up, he's going to have to start hitting the brakes before every corner on the Alpe d'Huez Grin

I guess it depends what you mean by risk. Pushing too hard and cracking, meaning you end up losing time. That's fine. If Contador wants to drive a hard pace to test Froome downhill, fine. What his not fine with is Contador testing him, passing that test and then having Contador get silly and nearly kill them both.

Threaten the Yellow Jersey, not the wearers life.
