Did not expect things to stay together like they did but Bushwackers makes a good point about the gradient of the final climb.
If Denifl ends up 7th overall i really can't complain, so i'm hoping for a quiet stage. Two opportunities for Goss to close out the Vuelta will be good to see.

If I did not already have a stage win, I would be gutted now. Thankfully my goal is complete, so I now can just be super-pleased with Ă–ste-Macdonald's KoM jersey! Almost makes up for Valverde's fall.

I realise it's probably irritating for everyone else, but letting the breaks go, then controlling the final climb is excellent news for me.

Can I put in a nomination for those final 12km being some of the most thrilling of the season? I was on the edge of my seat and I really thought that he had it...

Nibbles almost had it, but Tenorio decided that no, just no. Congrat's to Santander and mb for the win here. Super perfomance by Tenorio troughout the 3 weeks. |

This Vuelta is so frustating
Action all around between the favorites and nothing comes of it. Maillet gets in four breakaways that make it, doesn't win a single one. He also gets a chance to take the KoM jersey and just gives it up. And then, out of the blue, we get the lead in the Teams Classification.
Oh well, I guess 4th place will have to do for Marchado, baring crashes in the last two stages. And at least he got a stage-win and Maillet got 2nd on the KoM.
But great reporting CountArach. It's amazing how much suspense you're able to create with a race where every action has absolutely no effect!

100% sure he won one stage during the 1st week. Or was it at the Giro?
EDIT: I was confused. Yap, was at the Giro, on stage 9.

The last two stages have been a total disaster for LLS

Ineffective attacks once more... but this time with real drama.
Massive moments for Tenorio, stepping out of Madrazo's shadow here. mb's gamble pays off, if Madrazo can take the Tour now it will have been a brilliant Grand Tour triple.
Contador for me wastes his big chance of a GC win, perhaps unlucky with the way AI turned out here. But he was strangely unconvincing on all the big mountain stages. Contador's loss though is Nibali's gain.
SRB demanded a breakaway and Moinard is certainly the guy we wanted in the break. Unfortunately a midstage move made it across and from then on it wasn't going to happen. Koeniggsegg have been able to recover pretty well from Valverde's horror show quite well really. As usual that team manage to pull something out of the bag.
That was a real thriller Count - thank you

Congratulations to mattiasgt on a superb stage win!
Nibali did look good for a massive time gain in the GC, but when Tenorio finally decided to start racing he didn't really stand a chance. Congratulations to mb as well, as it looks like Tenorio is going to take the win now.
And thanks for the report, CountArach. Now I'm just hoping we've seen enough breakaway wins, meaning Impey should be able to challenge for top 5 in the two remaining stages |

Whooooooo, redemption!
This was an awesome stage, both result-wise for me, and in terms of overall thrillingness. Shame about the time gaps for the GC contenders though.
Hugenhaben has been awesome this Vuelta, bagging two stage wins with his aggressiveness. Generally the whole team has been great. Now, fingers crossed that there are no silly falls in the remaining stages..
Thanks ember.

It really looked like Nibali was going to win this Vuelta. How can pcm make him lose the lead in a descent?
Awesome report for an even better stage

Far too many breakaways. GT stages offer more points than stages in othe races, so it kinda makes a mockery of who has the strongest team, if the strongest riders dont get to compete for any of them.
But almost an unexpected twist there with Tenorio suddenly, briefly, struggling

Whoah you had me going there for a second! I can't be disappointed though, 2nd (barring a crash/split) is an over-performance for Nibali with the likes of Contador and Machado in the race. Good to see a Spaniard win the Vuelta anyway.

That was seriously stressful for a bit, but awesome in the end.
It''s a shame that I lost the lead in the team competition, I thought that was locked in two days ago.

So 3rd behind Nibali with hardly any good stage results at all, this has been a rather dissapointing race. It was my best possible lineup for any race this season and I suspect i'm not even in top 5 scoring teams...
The mountains with PCM12 seems to be all about not sucking rather than winning. Every great mountainstage of this race has been won by shitty domestiques.
Contador did nothing, even when Nibali attacked.
