Judging by the strengths of the squads being sent, it looks like Tirreno-Adriatico is going to be one hell of a race Smile

Paris - Nice Stage 3

today's stage is not a easy one like the previous stage's, that is mainly because of the Côte de Bécoup is only 30 km from the finish line. will the GC contenders make a move or will the wait for tomorrow.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0125.jpg

The break away of the day consisted of Kuschynski (KAT), De Maar (AST), Spilak (LIQ), Sicard (EUS), Mouris (VCD), Iriarte (MOV). the break had an lead of over 8 minutes but when the Sky, Garmin, Quickstep and HTC started to pull the breakaway back in the gap quickly went to nothing.

Going up the Côte de Bécoup the peleton didn't really try to break the peleton and the GC contenders didn't attack, however casualties were made, in the form of Green Jersey wearer Theo Bos (RAB), Guarnieri, Sabatini (LIQ), Haedo, Blythe (QST) and Iglinksiy (AST)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0126.jpg

going down the Côte de Bécoup Maxim Iglinskiy was the first to crash and with him many others followed: Brutt, Ignatiev (KAT), Gadret (SAX), Augustyn, Denifl (LEO), Zeits (AST), Kashechkin (LAM), Lloyd (OLO), Navarro (RSH), Pasamontes (MOV), Weening (RAB)

M.Iglinskiy fell, and our best finisher was 40th, seriously? Frown

Hope things will get better as soon as we reach the hills; Vino hasn't lost time yet, after all.

Just wait for the blast stages for Jurgen to come out of his shell!! Grin

So with 2 breaks and 3 top 10, plus 2nd on GC due to time bonus's, I guess I'm happy with that...

Paris - Nice Stage 4

The first day that will show the GC being turned upside down, with a lot of climbs: 9 to be exact. the sprinters will drop from the GC and the real GC man will be shown.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0140.jpg

Evans (BMC), Vinokourov (AST) and Contador (SBS) are the main favorietes today but a break might be able to hold on to the end. the start today was kinda slow, nobody wanted to take the charge of the peleton and nobody tryed to escape, resulting in 4 riders unintentionally making a break

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0141.jpg

this hilarious break was quickly aware of the break that they were forming and waited to come back with the peleton. however it didn't take long before real attack came before the mountain sprint, within 4 km to the sprint Pasamontes (MOV) and Niermann (RAB) Attacked together

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0142.jpg

Froome (SKY) was one of the first to follow the pair and together with Pietropolli (LAM), Augustyn (LEO), Veikkanen (OLO), Navarro (RSH) and Anza (VCD) the tryed to get with the break

Maxim Iglinskiy (AST) wants to prove himself after the crash yesterday and also went after the break, with him Izagirre (EUS) and Weening (RAB).

we skip ahead to the last part of the race. before the second to last climb. the breakaway has a gap of 5'00" to the Peleton that consisted of 113 riders. the only riders droped are mainly helpers or sprinters.

going over the second to last climb, we see that mysteries youth isn't a great climber as a sprinter, he is one of the riders that is being dropped together with Green Jersey wearer Kristof Goddaert (7th in GC)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0143.jpg

Going up the last climb. Col de Fontmartin, the breakaway has broken up, Navarro, Veikkanen, Pasamontes and Weening seem the be the riders that can hold on the longest

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0144.jpg

The GC-Riders didn't decide to attack for some time, so the stage will proprobly will be won in a bunch sprint if the peleton catches the break in time.

and with the break 2'00 minutes behind Pieter Weening (RAB) attacks to get the stage win. are his companions in the break going to let him go?

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0145.jpg

With 5 km to go Weening has a gap of 21" to the followers (Navarro, Veikkanen and Pasamontes) with an gap 1'40 to the peleton. the Stage win will not be for the rider in the peleton

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0148.jpg

the peleton can see the breakaway and the start sprinting for it, is the gap small enough to overcross Weening?

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0149.jpg

It can go either way

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0150.jpg

It is Pieter Weening that wins the fourth stage of Paris - Nice, Cadel Evans takes 2nd and Luis León Sánchez takes the 3rd place.
