Garmin - 4th season Giro d`Italia
cuxu
Good luck! I´m sure Lulu will do great!

PS: Fröhlinger will have it difficult without no team

Should become a good race for Garmin! Btw: Is the prologue still the "easy-winning-downhill-to-climb"-prologue like in PCM10 Wink But anyway, LLS would be the favourite even with a "normal" timetrial, if you know what I mean..

Good luck!

roturn
Thanks both.
Fröhlinger is 72/72 in mo/hi, so normally a good outsider. But with no team=no chance. Wink

@tsmoha: Yes, it is. I first played the prologue in 3D like always. Domination. So I quitted and started the detailled simulation. Now the result isn`t very nice. Especially as I had some of the big favourites for the ITT, but you will see tomorrow. Unfortunately I made no backup and can`T try the fast sim.

tsmoha
Hm, well, that sucks Wink But I probably would have done the same! In 3D it's simply no fun at all. So, at least it's more challenging now..

And congrats to 10,000 views Smile

Snuffeli
Hello Smile Im fairly new to this forum, and i think the stories idea is very interesting, and this story espicially has been very fun and exciting to read till now, gl in the future with your team roturn Grin

RSH

Avin Wargunnson
Not the best results in France, but it is always tough to get rid of the sprinters there, so good luck in Andalusia with very strong team. Stage win is a must Smile
I'll be back

roturn
Thanks all.
@Snuffeli Thanks a lot. Really much appreciated. You might also want to read my PCM10 story of the 2nd and 3rd season. Wink
@Avin Indeed harder than expected. So must be happy with the top 10.
@tsmoha This really sucks. I was 1-5 and 8,9,12 or so in 3D mode. Now look what happened in detailed simulation. ;(

Pictures were taken in the 3D mode race, while the results are completely simemd due to the easy domination.

Vuelta a Andalucia - Stage 1
Benahavís Prologue
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-1.jpg
First stage is a short and a little bit hilly prologue.
Big favourites are Phinney, LL Sanchez, Farrar, Porte and Evans.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-3.jpg
Taylor Phinney is presenting his American ITT shirt for the first time this season. His time isn`t pretty well with 12'13.
(In 3D mode he would have celebrated his first Garmin win. Wink )

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-4.jpg
White Russian Kirjienka is 5s faster than Phinney but still a bit away from the fastest.
12'08

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-5.jpg
His team mate Cadel Evans can ride on his own this season after a helper role in the Leopard team last season.
12'06

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-6.jpg
Igor Anton isn`t known as time trial specialist. So nobody is surprised by his time.
12'29
At least his team mate Martinez is still leading the race with 12'00.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-7.jpg
Former ITT World Champion Richie Porte also can`t beat the Spaniard`s time. He also loses 1s to Evans. 12'07

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-1-8.jpg
Last but not least Spanish ITT Champion LL Sanchez. He will lose some time on his biggest opponents and must hope for good results in the hilly stages now.
12'13

BAD DAY!
Guess who's back? Smile
Lets see how many friens are still around...

Avin Wargunnson
That is completly unrealistic too, maybe quick sim is the best for it Frown
I'll be back

roturn
Yes. Probably for this race. I wanted to quit before the sim ended, but this didn`t really work. So I must live with these time gaps now.

tsmoha
Sad There's simply no reason to like this stage.. even Detailed Sim sucks here.. too bad for Garmin. Time to strike back Smile

Thanks all for the comments.
Totally rubbish stage, so happy that I won`t race it for one season. Wink

Vuelta a Andalucia - Stage 2
Almuñécar - Adra
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-1.jpg
The 2nd stage might be the hardest in this race. It`s categorized as mountain stage, so let`s see how mountainous it really is.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-2.jpg
Lots of attacks in the start of the stage. In the end 4 riders were able to create a gap. Therefore it`s a pretty strong one with the 9th and 12th in the overall in Kiryienka (Movistar) and Kruijswijk (Saxo Bank). The other two are weaker climbers: Van Rensburg (Burgos) and Girardi (De Rosa).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-3.jpg
On the first and hardest mountain it`s Euskaltel doing most work for race leader Martinez. Anton, Landa, Nieve and Txurruka are all part of the Basque train.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-4.jpg
But as soon as the top was reached, we took the full work. Phinney, Rowe and Dao are doing a good job here holding the gap under 4min.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-5.jpg
2nd climb and some more attacks. Strongest from Candil (LA - Antarte), Bravo (Caja Rural) and Fröhlinger (Skil), who can escape.
But Garmin is still doing well so far controlling every situation.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-6.jpg
Most sprinters and weaker climbers lost contact after the 2nd climb. Maaskant and still Phinney, who is doing excellent here are doing the pace now. Sanchez, Kessiakoff and Löw are still relaxing in the group of just 29 riders.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-7.jpg
Meanwhile Candil and Fröhlinger joined the 4 escapees. With 40km to go the advance is at 2min.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-8.jpg
Last and shortest climb of the day. But probably not the slowest one as Löw is doing an incredibly high pace now. Maaskant and Phinney are finally falling back now. Both of them did a very good job here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-9.jpg
Also the breakaway is back in the favourite group now. Only 12 riders are in this group, where Kessiakoff and Löw are still doing the pace. The next group even lost more than 1min on the last kilometers.
None of them is really known for a great sprint, so it might become an interesting finish...

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Feb/And-2-10.jpg
..,where LL Sanchez proved to be the strongest. He was behind Martinez and won the sprint pretty dominant. Evans finishes 3rd and also gets some bonus seconds. Also Kessiakoff and Löw finished in this group and entered the top 10 now.
