Only hope he is not doped.
It's over short time, but still that's alot of watts. |

Froome can do 470 over 24 minutes clean so 470 over 11 is not doped.

Froome did roughly 430 if you match him with a 70+8 kg rider, whereas Herklotz apparently did 485, which is as much as Riis on Hautacam (most impressive performance ever on a non TT stage for a final mountain - Froome would have been totally ripped apart - but the stage had been shortened).
I don't want to deny the talent of a guy I don't know, but the figure seems totally insane and much beyond what is credible (from a non heavily doped guy). I doubt it's a reliable number. |

Isn't it a bit too much climbing for Herklotz(last climb is to 1300m)
I have no idea how good he actually climbs.
Quite good
And could we please stop discussing random numbers? Not to sound biased, but I don't think that's feasible without sufficient publicly accessible evidence, e.g. TV coverage.

I didn't think Landa wuld do that well at San Seb, and same with nieve. So happy with Nieve's season this year. Another great result from Serry as well, who is a great talent.

Was out of town without internet yesterday.
Any chance someone could give me a quick summary of San Sebastian? Happy to see a good performance from Landa after stagnating a bit in his development recently.
And Herklotz is just amazing. I'm starting to like that guy.

Quintana goes on first slopes of Jaizkibel with Valverde in his wheel. Kreuziger, Roche, Moser, Jeanneson, Landa, Gallopin are the only that can follow. Quintana paces all the way up and lets go 2 km from the top. They pick up some guys who already were in front like Eijsen and ride together to the Arkale. Chavenall, Astarloza and Nieve bridge across. Gallopin immediately attacks on the Arkala creating a 20 second lead. Kreuziger, Roche, Landa, Nieve and Valverde form a chasing group of 5 but can never close the 20 seconds

Thanks, Spilak
Impressive stuff from Gallopin. I thought he had won it from a breakaway when seeing the results.

Not that I give a flying fuck about nationalities, but I'm a victim of local media and their praise of French riders, or their complaints about how bad they are.
Whilst most PT teams are now part of MPCC, and all French teams are, the two only decent representatives of our glorious cycling nation in WT classics, the only two who exist at that level, are part of non MPCC teams. Just saying.
That 10th place just gave 34 years old Chavanel enough points to beat his former yearly CQ record, btw. And it's only late July. Late bloomer, eh ? |

btw aqua, what do you think of the suddenly underperforming Europcar dudes, Rolland and Voeckler in special, after the Rolland incident?
They surely took it down a notch since the last 2 TDF. I think they are clean now but weren't during last 2 TDF... what do you think? |

In short : I think that too.
Stories about them (and it's not only Rolland) messing with corticoids were getting worrying. Turgot was briefly susp... er, rested last year, and there was that story of other teams complaining of corticoids abuses.
They can try to bullshit people about it, but it was no surprise Rolland got somewhat caught, and that they immediately suffered from the inverted effects of corticoids (corticoids : more agressivity, faster recovery, and helps gaining or preserving muscular mass, but it makes riders more tendinitis prone).
Oh wait, when did Voeckler suffer from tendinitis already ?
Now the questions are "did it concern all the team or only their leaders (say 5 or 6 guys) ?" And "did they really quit or are they only going easy until people forget a little about them ?".

They did get a new contract with Europcar for 2 years right? Prepare to see them back in 2015 then.
But I do also think that the effect has been made bigger by the fact that the leaders (of other teams I mean) have been stronger than in the past two years.
