In this type of classics the attacker wins easly because the riders dont want to relay on the front , so like the previous year.
L.L. sanchez (2012) and Gallopin (2013) had a great attack but if there is a rider who relays at front , i dont think the break will win.

Haven't watched much cycling in the past years, so checked up on Gallopins results just now.
Seems like he's a decent sprinter who comes well over hill/mountains?
Future competitor for Ardennes?
They also don't want to relay in the groups behind.
That 2nd group on Jaizkibel with 30 men could've easily returned if they all worked together. Yet all that happened was that some men returned in the downhill/flat part and the rest was looking at eachother.
Really stupid. In the end guys like Mollema even made up almost all ground on the 2nd group. If the whole group worked together it would be a totally other race. But in San Sebastian that doesn't happen. Too many indivuels in such a large group makes cohesion impossible. Only if there is 1 strong team it ends up different
I have ridden Le Markstein myself. It's not a steep climb, except for the first km. Great talent, that Herklotz (and he rides cyclo-cross races )
