@Croatia: Thanks a lot! Looking forward to possibly racing against you again in PTHC
In this part of our season review, we'll be taking a look at how our riders performed, present some statistics from our race performances and announce the awards for the season.
Rider Analysis - Points, PpRD and Ranking Rider | Points | PpRD | PCT Ranking | Wilco Kelderman | 608 | 17.37 | 2 | Nico Keinath | 472 | 9.83 | 7 | Tom Dumoulin | 217 | 3.39 | 34 | Bert Van Lerberghe | 160 | 3.02 | 48 | Tomas Paprstka | 156 | 2.44 | 52 | Igor Boev | 136 | 2.39 | 57 | Calvin Watson | 76 | 1.23 | 91 | Jasper Bovenhuis | 71 | 1.01 | 95 | Geert Van der Sanden | 67 | 1.20 | 97 | Joonas Henttala | 43 | 0.61 | 139 | Romain Bardet | 39 | 0.63 | 147 | Michael Storer | 28 | 0.38 | 175 | Kevin Inkelaar | 18 | 0.24 | 214 | Michel Kreder | 12 | 0.20 | 249 | Jefferson Cepeda Hernandez | 4 | 0.04 | 304 | Gorazd Per | 3 | 0.21 | 315 | Ide Schelling | 3 | 0.03 | 317 | Marten Kooistra | 2 | 0.13 | 336 | Cristian Scaroni | 0 | 0.00 | |
No surprises here as Kelderman brought back the most points and the highest PpRD for the season. Great job done by Keinath as well with a near 10 PpRD. Six riders scoring more than a 100 points is a hugely satisfying result for us. Compare this with last season, where just three riders go past that mark! Only Scaroni failed to score.
Rider Analysis - Wage/Point Rider | Points | Wage | Wage/Points | Igor Boev | 136 | 0 | 0.00 | Michel Kreder | 12 | 0 | 0.00 | Tom Dumoulin | 217 | 50000 | 230.41 | Nico Keinath | 472 | 140000 | 296.61 | Tomas Paprstka | 156 | 50000 | 320.51 | Bert Van Lerberghe | 160 | 90000 | 562.50 | Calvin Watson | 76 | 50000 | 657.89 | Wilco Kelderman | 608 | 425000 | 699.01 | Jasper Bovenhuis | 71 | 50000 | 704.23 | Geert Van der Sanden | 67 | 50000 | 746.27 | Michael Storer | 28 | 25000 | 892.86 | Joonas Henttala | 43 | 50000 | 1162.79 | Romain Bardet | 39 | 50000 | 1282.05 | Kevin Inkelaar | 18 | 50000 | 2777.78 | Gorazd Per | 3 | 10000 | 3333.33 | Marten Kooistra | 2 | 10000 | 5000.00 | Jefferson Cepeda Hernandez | 4 | 25000 | 6250.00 | Ide Schelling | 3 | 50000 | 16666.67 | Cristian Scaroni | 0 | 20000 | - |
148 points from draft picks and 136 of those from Boev! The draft worked wonders for us! Dumoulin up next as his late season surge made him the cheapest paid rider on our roster this season. Keinath getting 4th on this list despite the comparably higher wage is a testament to how good he was. No surprise to see Kelderman some way down the list given his wages.
Stage Race - 2
Hong Kong Challenge - Wilco Kelderman
Herlad Sun Tour - Tom Dumoulin
Classics - 2
GP Yekaterinburg, GP Izola - both Wilco Kelderman
Stages - 6
Igor Boev - 2
Nico Keinath, Wilco Kelderman, Bert Van Lerberghe, Tom Dumoulin - 1 each

U25s Classification - 1
Tour de San Luis - Michael Storer
Team Classification - 0
Best Result: 2nd - Tour du Faso, Herlad Sun Tour
The full list of achievements can be viewed here.
Spoiler Nico Keinath
Despite Kelderman getting the most points, Keinath was the most consistent rider on the team and picked up big points in almost all races he went to. We were expecting some more points from Kelderman which is perhaps why he doesn't get the nod for two consecutive seasons.
Spoiler Michael Storer
A hugely impressive Avenir, some solid domestique work, a KOM win and outscoring the more fancied Inkelaar gives the Young Rider award for 2020 to our Australian loanee from our friends at Bennelong. Co-incidentally, this is the fourth time out of our four seasons in the MG that a loan-in has won this award. We must be dong something right with riders we take in on loan!
Spoiler GP Yekaterinburg and Milano - Torino
The very first race of the season gave us our first goal success as Kelderman won in Russia. Milano - Torino was the other classic win we had this time, and gave us some confidence that Kelderman can perhaps hold his own in the PCT next season. Shoutout to Tour du Faso, Herald Sun Tour and Giro dell'Emelia for being amazing races for us, among a few more.

Ah yeah, some great Storer moments in the Avenir, was nice to see your team performing so amazing there stage-wise. Also 'happy' I can say I saw Milano - Torino unfold the way it did with CT teams having a blast and Kelderman proving there and a bit later in Emelia that he's ready for next season!

It's immensily satisfying for me to see both Paprstka and Keinath so high in the efficiency ratings and seeing them both delivering nearly everywhere. See ya in PTHC <3
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Wilco wasn't quite as great as expected, but he was still very good. Keinath was also excellent, but I'd argue that cobbles were your 2nd best terrain. You got fantastic value out of the trio of Paprstka, Van Lerberghe and Bovenhuis
Dumoulin also came in strong after complaints about his performances for most of the season
Congrats on the express jump back to PCT. 3/5 goals with a 4/5 not far off will provide a good budget to fund your campaign. I hope you have a good backup up plan to support Kelderman, because I would very much like to see Beltran (if they meet) get the better of him again

@Nemolito: Storer has been our best loan-in after Per, and that's some big shoes to fill! He did really well this season. Our season ended well, please continue reporting our races
@knockout: I think those two were signings of the season for sure, along with Dumoulin. Paprstka regularly punched above his weight and Keinath was the epitome of consistency at the top of the mountain races. Can't ask for much more than that! Looking forward to racing against you in PTHC again
@redordead: You are right, as a terrain, cobbles was second best for us but individually Keinath was excellent. Dumoulin needed the whole season to build up steam and saved his best for last Hoping you are right about the budget and I don't really expect Kelderman to outperform Beltran in too many races, despite the latter's under performance this time. Looking forward to the PCT next season

National and World Championships Update The cycling world has just concluded the National Championships for all nations as well as the World Championships where six events were contested.
Joonas Henttala was the only rider who claimed his country's National Championships in our colours, as he claimed both the Road Race and the Time Trial honours for Finland. Huge congratulations to him on this achievement and we look forward to see him ride in NC colours next season.
Henttala edging out Helme to claim the Finnish Road Race title.
Henttala en-route to comfortably claiming the Finnish Time Trial title.
In the World Championships, Tom Dumoulin was a part of the Netherlands TTT team which came 3rd and picked up the Bronze medal in the event. In the U23 Road Race, both Inkelaar and Eenkhoorn finished in the Top 20, after the former launched the first of the attacks from the favourites which split apart the peloton with less than 10 kilometers to go.
This concludes the racing for the 2020 season. We have already started preparations for the off-season and our second run in the PCT. Stay tuned for some more updates coming soon...

A year on and here we are checking up on how our talents have come along one more time. Our talent pool has actually shrunk from last season but with the relegation, we had to make a couple of difficult cuts and sales! Let's now look at how the ones we hung have progressed.
Felix Grossschartner | Age: 27 | Pot: 4 | Lvl: 4.100 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 67 | 72 | 75 | 67 | 72 | 72 | 71 | 50 | 62 | 70 | 69 | 68 | 69 | 2021/Max stats | 67 | 74 | 77 | 67 | 72 | 73 | 72 | 50 | 62 | 72 | 71 | 68 | 69 |
The late bloomer finally maxes out after his development had stalled with us last season. Having spent the season with Grieg in the PT, we hope Felix will use his learnings and put it to use when rides for us next season.
Riccardo Minali | Age: 25 | Pot: 4 | Lvl: 4 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 69 | 52 | 57 | 56 | 69 | 71 | 74 | 59 | 75 | 75 | 62 | 73 | 66 | 2021 | 71 | 52 | 58 | 57 | 70 | 73 | 78 | 59 | 77 | 77 | 62 | 74 | 68 | Potential stats | 73 | 52 | 58 | 57 | 70 | 74 | 79 | 59 | 79 | 79 | 62 | 74 | 70 |
Another rider who spent a season out on loan, Minali is just a step away from reaching his full potential. He will need to spend the next season out on loan in PT in all probability to reach his full potential. He should become a decent option in flat races once maxed. He should already be a useful option for leadouts and sprint trains on the flat.
Kevin Inkelaar | Age: 23 | Pot: 3 | Lvl: 4 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 63 | 76 | 68 | 61 | 72 | 73 | 75 | 56 | 60 | 73 | 69 | 69 | 61 | 2021 Stats | 64 | 78 | 69 | 63 | 74 | 75 | 77 | 56 | 60 | 74 | 69 | 69 | 63 | Potential Stats | 64 | 80 | 70 | 63 | 74 | 76 | 78 | 56 | 60 | 75 | 71 | 69 | 63 |
The premier Dutch climbing talent takes another step towards realizing his potential. He too will need a loan out next season to max and he should be useful for whichever team takes him on.
Pascal Eenkhoorn | Age: 23 | Pot: 5 | Lvl: 4 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 69 | 73 | 70 | 65 | 72 | 74 | 76 | 65 | 64 | 70 | 68 | 66 | 71 | 2021 stats | 70 | 76 | 72 | 67 | 74 | 76 | 78 | 65 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 73 | Potential Stats | 71 | 78 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 77 | 80 | 65 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 75 |
The premier Dutch stage racing talent follows his buddy to reach level 4, having spent the season on loan at Nordstrom. We will need to loan him out again for maximize his potential, and like Inkelaar, he too should be instantly useful even in the PT next season. We like his unique skill of high Prologue to go with his stage racing in particular.
Ide Schelling | Age: 23 | Pot: 5 | Lvl: 3 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 69 | 68 | 67 | 63 | 69 | 69 | 65 | 63 | 62 | 66 | 71 | 66 | 65 | 2021 stats | 70 | 72 | 69 | 66 | 72 | 71 | 68 | 63 | 62 | 66 | 71 | 66 | 68 | Potential Stats | 72 | 77 | 73 | 69 | 75 | 73 | 72 | 63 | 62 | 68 | 74 | 67 | 71 |
The premier Dutch sub-top leader is just a year behind in terms of development to his more illustrious compatriots but he has taken significant strides in his neo-pro season. He will definitely continue with us next season, and is someone we don't need to loan out to improve.
Gorazd Per | Age: 24 | Pot: 4 | Lvl: 3 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 68 | 65 | 66 | 67 | 67 | 68 | 61 | 69 | 65 | 71 | 63 | 68 | 67 | 2021 stats | 69 | 65 | 66 | 68 | 69 | 69 | 62 | 71 | 65 | 71 | 63 | 68 | 68 | Potential Stats | 72 | 65 | 67 | 71 | 73 | 72 | 64 | 75 | 65 | 72 | 64 | 68 | 71 |
Younger brother to PT champion David, Gorazd improves a level after his first season with us. We are sure he too can become a useful rider and won't always be accompanied by the first line of introduction that we used here.
Cristian Scaroni | Age: 23 | Pot: 3 | Lvl: 3 | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2020 stats | 66 | 68 | 70 | 63 | 69 | 67 | 65 | 65 | 64 | 69 | 67 | 68 | 62 | 2021 stats | 66 | 69 | 72 | 63 | 70 | 68 | 66 | 65 | 64 | 70 | 68 | 68 | 62 | Potential Stats | 67 | 71 | 76 | 63 | 73 | 70 | 68 | 65 | 65 | 73 | 71 | 69 | 62 |
The second Italian talent on our roster is the puncher who too moves up a level despite joining as a Stagiare this season. He looked like the perfect replacement for Hofstede, who we released so that he could finish his development. We are not very sure what to do with him yet.
We would like to thank Grieg, Valio and Nordstrom for their help in leveling up our riders this season. We hope they were able to help you in your seasons and look forward to more possible associations in the future.
Besides those mentioned above, we also took in Marten Kooistra as a Stagiare. As such, he did not ride enough race days to level up but looks likely to continue with us next season. We are hoping that our talent development decisions this time will be easier than it was in the last off-season.

Damn what a tasty, tasty bunch of young guns to come in in the future, especially the regional ones. Looking good for the next years, now it's first about securing the place in PCT though.

I probably would have gone climber v1 on Inkelaar like I did with Gregaard since I'm wary of big mtn/hill gaps after years of dealing with Garby. But gotta say, it's really awesome to see Inkelaar forming into the pure mountain diesel (with a kick
) that he was always meant to be. Very fun rider.

I really like the look of Eenkhoorn. Probably would have gone with the 78/75 Clv1 combo but this is fine as well. With him, Inkelaar and Schelling you seem to have a big part of the dutch climbing future locked up for now. Großschartner should be a nice asset next season too. |

@Croatia14: Yes, PCT safety first and hence why most of those talents will have to develop elsewhere next season perhaps. But that depends on how we plan our calendar somewhat. I like them too though
@bbl: I get what you are saying but I put the SR training in there for the better energy stats and lost just 1 hill in the process. Hoping there won't be too much difference between 80/71 and 80/70 and the better stamina and resistance make up for it.
@knockout: Again, like Inkelaar, energy stats were a big motivation to put in the SR training. I'm also very intrigued with the high prologue possibility with Eenkhoorn. There's still a chance to go with ClV1 for next season to get him to 78/74, so we'll see at the end of the season.

I also like your Dutch (climbing) talents, and really look forward to how they will perform next season and when they are maxed, especially Inkelaar. Grossschartner should be a very cool domestique for Wilco, and a nice rider to go stage/KoM hunting as well

Interesting talent pool you have there. Inkelaar jumps out due to his 80MO, but it would require some training to make him as strong as Eenkhoorn who imo is your biggest star in the making! Inkelaar with +3FL and similar 2-3 in HI would make him very solid though! Still a very interesting breakaway rider for the late part of a GC race.
Grossschartner is looking very very handy already. He probably lack the physical traits to make it worthwhile to future train him (next season), but other than that I would see him as a great investment as 79HI too!
Schelling in particular a brilliant lieutentaint-to-be.
The Italians + Per would probably not make the cut if I was in charge however. They have too many limitations to be good PCT riders so rather cut them now than 1-2 seasons after maxing them imo.

Like the others have said, having that climbing trio of Dutch riders when you're a Dutch team is pretty damn awesome
Not a huge fan of Inkelaar, but I hope he comes good for you in some way. Eenkhoorn is very nice though and I agree that big prologue stat is a game changer for him. Schelling though is my favourite, I love his stats

@Nemolito: Well I like them too Look forward to next season when all of them should be more useful than currently and should be fun to have on the team. Inkelaar should be good fully maxed, especially for mountain races. Hoping Grossschartner does step up to help Kelderman and that is the intention. Can use him on the mountains as well off course.
@SotD: Have the same thoughts regarding Inkelaar and Eenkhoorn, regarding who probably is the better leader potential in the future but a couple of tweaks here and there can change things I guess. Not sure how much Grossschartner training makes sense for the moment but it could become an option in a season or two. Love Schelling too myself! Agree with you on the Italians, they are probably expendable. Will probably hold on to Per and hope for a brotherly reunion if possible in the future

Eenkhoorn is a fantastic talent and was happy to have him riding for us this year. Considering he already scored fairly well this year I think he should be a pretty good PCT rider for you next year.

@redordead: Well I guess it's as good as it gets in the Dutch climbing talent department for us Agree with you that probably Eenkhoorn has the brighter future but who knows how they end up after possible training! Schelling is good as well
@WJ: Thanks again for taking him on Not sure I can keep him for the season to level up but let's see if that becomes feasible.
