Japan | 4pts | 4-4 goal difference | 2-2 against Senegal | 4 yellow cards | | Senegal | 4pts | 4-4 goal difference | 2-2 against Japan | 6 yellow cards | |
So Senegal is knocked out ´cause of more yellow cards, that must hurt. |

Now was that intention by England. They don't get Brasil now, and it looks a bit easier (if that's possible),
Colombia and then Switzerland or this years Greece= Sweden.
Not any team has really put their feet forward and that makes it much fun too see what team pick up the pace and perform a stable four games to finally lifting the cup.
One half of that playoff tree looks a bit easier, but Spain and Croatia will be very very hard to beat.
Could it actually be a team that wins it for the first time ?

Still their coach was the fairest in the post-interview.
Simply stating, "That`s football, we had a good tournament, nice experience and today we didn`t deserve it. We don`t regret anything."
Hope to see him yet again in 4 years. |

Bit of a weird game. I watched it but didn't really care if we won or not. I don't think England cared too much either seeing as they brought no-one on to try to win the game.
In respect of the drew I dont think it really matters. Belgium should beat Japan but then may face Brazil and then France, Argentina, Portugal or Uruguay in the semis. England could have tough games against Colombia, Sweden or Switzerland and then most likely Spain or Croatia in the semis. Both paths are hard. There is no easy route to the World Cup final.

Higuain and Dyballe remain on the bench.
Seems to go well for Argentina to let them relax. |

If that is the level of entertainment going forward, this will be fun.

Amazing first match of the last 16. I have the feeling the rest of them will fail to deliver the same level of excitement though.
Brilliant refereeing too, has to be said. No VAR shenanigans and straight up assuming his decisions, which were generally correct.

New match coming up! Dont expect 7 goals here.
Godin vs Pepe - who will the dirtiest/ugliest of those two in this match?
How many goals will Ronaldo/Cavani/Suarez score? |

Honestly think Uruguay could go far this time. Rock solid at the back while very threatening going forward.

So they're equal then
Now that all GOATs have gone home, we can finally concentrate on some human football! Phew.
