Pretty sure you need a win in a WT race to qualify for it.

Think this will be my best stage win so far! That also got me up t 2nd overall! Even though its 7,32 up to Contador, since I struggled the first week with not the best form since my schedule was to be att topform in the 2nd and 3rd week. And also my rider is not that good on hills and ACC, he is more a Jan Ullrich type... |

Thought I might give a little update on my own career. I made a 22 year old Irish puncheur, mainly as a test of the game mode (that's why he's so old).
My first season was with 73 HI at An Post, and I kind of tore apart the CT. I got 11 wins, the most prestigious probably being a stage in Qinghai, a stage and GC in Oberösterreich, as well as more or less every hilly U23 race I entered (including LBL U23! ).
I then signed with Bretagne on another one year deal, and am now at the start of the second season, main stats being 77 HI, 70 MO, 77 ACC, but only 70 STA. I reckon getting wins will be a little harder at this level, especially the reduced bunch sprints I took a few of last year should be harder to come by.

I started a career as a Danish GC rider. In my first season I rode with Trefor, and even though I wanted to renew my contract, they rejected my offer (I only wanted one more year), and I couldn't renegotiate. I went on to win the Tour de l'Avenir with a few minutes to second place, and then I signed for Androni (got an offer from Sky and other big teams but I thought a few years in a free role would be good).
I've had a good season for them so far, 6th place overall in San Luis, 6th overall in Settimana, and the mountain jersey in Trentino. Then I took 4th overall in the Tour of Norway and 7th in Tour of Austria, before peaking for the Tour de Pologne. All the best riders were there, but I was in great shape, so I took second place on the two last stages (a hilly one and a TT), and took second place in the GC, 45 seconds after Pozzovivo. Next season I'll ride the Giro, hopefully as captain, and then I'll be looking for a new team. Sky have wanted me the last two seasons, and Tinkoff-Saxo have also offered me a contract, so it'll probably be one of those, since I want to be part of one of the big teams.
EDIT: Also got a wage rise of 2500 to 12000 by renewing with Androni for next year, so that's good.

I'm now entering my 4th season with my American sprinter/cobbler. So here's a quick recap of what's happened following Season 1.
Season 2 (UnitedHealthCare): Complete struggle. Coming off an 18 win season in the CT, he can't handle the PCT competition. He finishes the season with 2 victories. A random stage win and repeats as U23 RVV Champ. But his potential and stats catch the eye of PT teams.
Season 3 (Cannondale - Garmin): Signs a 2-year deal worth 20,000 euros per month. Is still a level III when he joins the PT team so he can't race the top races just yet. He wins a lot of lower level stages where he doesn't met up with the top PT sprinters, but finishes around 10th when he does come up against them. He finishes with 8 victories and the highlight was winning the U23 RVV for the 3rd and final time as he will be 24 years old next season.
Overall: Through 3 seasons he has 28 victories, is experience level 20 and just reached level V so he can race in all races. Next season he should be competing for the win in every sprint he takes part in but is still getting his feet wet on the cobble circuit.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FI | DH | PL | 73 | 60 | 69 | 58 | 73 | 71 | 71 | 71 | 83 | 82 | 62 | 73 | 73 |
Still not quite sure what his final aim will be. Some that I have considered:
1. Win Sprint competition in all GTs (perhaps in same year)
2, Multiple Flanders Triples
3. 300 Victories, 10 Monuments and 25 Classics
Any suggestions?

I would say go for sprints in the beginning, and in a few years time go all in for the classics, that's what I would do at least.
My stats, if anyone is interested:
FL MO HI TT STA RES REC COB SP ACC FI DH PL
68 76 77 74 66 73 74 58 61 65 61 68 74
My main goal is to improve my stamina and my acceleration, since I want to be a Contador type rider who attacks a lot. At the moment I can't follow attacks, so I just put my effort on 85 and reel them slowly in. It's effective, but following attacks would be more fun. My stamina really let me down in Tour de Pologne, where a few 200km+ flat stages brought my freshness down for the tough stages. So now I'm training sprint for a while, so I can improve my secondary stats a lot. |

He's an awesome rider. Focus on sprints first, like andy4ever said. It's his main thing now. Maybe train a bit mountain and hill so he can more easily survive a Grand Tour and compete for the points jerseys.
Then slowly build cobbles so he can turn a real cobbler later in his career
That's what I would do.
Just one question, how did you reach level 5? In your season recaps you say nothing of winning a classic or stage win in a grand tour or world tour race. |

@Ian: You can race the Tour de France without winning a single race. It unlocks at level 18 or 20. Not sure which. It'll just take longer, obviously. I've never unlocked PT by doing the HC goal thing.

I think some guys are doing amazing things with be-a-pro, so I created this thread with its only purpose to tell those stories. No gameplay discussions or whatever, only sharing your story with others (can be very short, like Mre just did above) without having to make a real story out of it!
Here is the thread. |

It unlocked at level 20 as I haven't got a Top 5 in a monument or win a GT stage win just yet. Hopefully soon.
And I have decide to race the Flanders and the Vuelta in Season 4. So it's one final test season before I go all-in for the sprint jersey in all 3 GTs next season with my new team in Season 5. Hopefully I can get my mountains up a tad but right now the Northern Classics training axel is perfect for him. I get to increase cobbles but it also has the chance to increase his SP and HL as well. Plus his secondary stats (STA, REC and RES).

I would be grateful if someone can tell me where you can see your riders 'goals' in order to progress a level? Seen plenty of people talking about them but can't seem to find them in-game. |

AFAIK they're not displayed anywhere which is a pretty silly decision IMO. Collectively though we could figure them all out and list them somewhere. |

The race levels or the character levels?
Race levels are viewable in the race planning screen.
Character levels I know of are, without remembering the exp gain from them. Feel free to correct me where I may be wrong.
Breakaway, 25, 50 and 100, 150 km (also possibly 200) in a single race/stage. Only available once in your career.
First ever win. Only once.
First ever continental race win. Only once.
First continental jersey worn. Once per season.
First continetal jersey won. Once per season.
First pro tour race win. Once per season.
First pro tour jersey worn. Once per season.
First pro tour jersey won. Once per season.
Those are all I can remember at the moment. People should feel free to expand or correct as I may be forgetting some or be incorrect about some.

I just got 60 XP for a 150km breakaway so you could add that 200km might exist too, not sure yet. |

Trying to pick up bonus seconds at an intermediate sprint with teamates protecting you is pretty annoying. |
