NFL record for longest rushing TD by a QB (93 yards):

Well, I'm not impressed - we did a longer QB TD run in the previous season

Sooo what the hell was that in Detroit?
I switched off with 1:something to go when it was Dallas ball and the game looked sealed, just to tune back in like 20 minutes later, but somehow just seconds before a Stafford TD with 0:12 to go
Detroit's offense at this finest. I want to kill those announcers for saying it was over with 1:30 left. "Can't you do clock management!!!" Go Lions!
Yeah, that was Billick...pretty disturbing the fact that he's a Super Bowl winning coach. A few weeks ago, he basically forgot there a was such a thing as a 4th down.
Though yesterday the Cowboys had 99% chance of winning the game after the Lions turned it over on downs per ANFLS. Garrett called the worst plays ever by running OUTSIDE, when he could have even kneeled or at least do so on 3rd down and then punt which would've forced Detroit to go the whole length of a field in ~25-30 seconds. Another poor decision was to kick the FG (making it, if you can believe it or not, lowered the Cowboys winning percentage) when he could have gone for it on 4th&~3.
I'm really thankful the Lions made me lol at Cowboys once again.
Here's the winning percentage through the whole Det-Dal game:

I can't wait to see the Chiefs actually take on a formidable team. All they've been doing is just grinding their way to close victories.
The Chiefs kinda suck. Outgained by 1.8 ypp hosting the Browns. I'm taking any decent team with a real offense over them.
Alex Smith dropped back 42 times yesterday: took 6 sacks, targeted RBs (inc. McCluster) 21 times, and targeted TEs 5 times. KC WRs got 9 targets out of those 42 dropbacks. (It's not entirely fair to classify all McCluster's targets as dumpoffs, since at least the TD was downfield, but: who cares, the point stands, Alex Smith sucks.)
EDIT: Also Texans name Case Keenum starter for Colts game. There are rumblings that Schaub is healthy enough to play but Gary is using his ankle injury as an opportunity to scratch him without having to come out and say he's being benched healthy.

Then couldn't go for on 4th down. The clock stops on a change of possession or at least that's the rule. The announcers forgot about that rule too. They keep saying kneel it on 4th down so the Lions lose another 40 seconds instead of taking the field goal.
I was yelling at my tv. They can't do that... how stupid are you guys! So happy the Lions shoved all their premature stats about them losing back in their faces.
That graphic is awesome btw.

The point of going for it was to win the game by converting. It was a 4th&5 from the 26 actually so not much of a deal regarding field position.
When I said that a 3 point lead is better than a 6 point one(or 4 or 5, for that matter) is that the opposing team plays more conservative once it gets in field goal range knowing they could easily tie it. After the Durham play, do you think Stafford would've thrown that pass to Megatron with only a 3 point deficit? Now because it was a 6 point game he knew it was all or nothing.
I know that we don't see that very often because of the idiocy of head coaches also the fact that it might backfire so all journalists, casual fans and annalists will throw you under the bus and say things like: you got to put points on the board, trust the defense lol, and it's hard to expect this (only guys like Belichick or Payton would probably do this but they would've made sure on first downs they would not get in this situation) but that would've been the better call. |

Yes. It was as awful as the decision of kicking it. And as awful as the other 2 times the Dolphins faced a 4th and short and Philbin decided to punt. His defense really bailed him out on the last one by winning the game.

@valv - Looked back at your preseason rankings, you said Seattle was too high and Atlanta was too low, look how that turned out
@soso - I dont really look at them until I update them, so if the spreadsheet isn't updated, I didn't look.

Looked back at the first page, the predictions I made were:
Seattle super bowl champs
Chiefs make playoffs
Ravens miss playoffs
Denver best record
Texans 2nd round ()

Okay, so another ref decision I'd like to have explained.
Miami vs. Florida State.
Running back gets the ball, makes ~5 yards until he gets pushed back by an opponent. Said opponent makes contact with player and ball (dunno whether that's important, just to be on the safe side), but the ball carrier stays on his feet.
Then he escapes and starts running down the other side, when the ref whistles and calls 'forward progress' according to the commentators.
It looks like that might even have been a ~80yd rush TD if it wasn't for the whistle.
Commentators say they would've decided different as well, but my question still is what rule the ref applied to stop that play looking perfectly fine to me?

Normally in those instances, the player that "loses his forward progress" just gets pushed back while still on his feet for another 5 yards, giving his team a loss on the play instead of a gain, or the player is pushed back and falls most likely on his head.
Its hard for me to explain tho, but maybe this helps a little.
numbers is easier to understand

IF the runner is stationary for two seconds he is automatically down at that spot.

Yeah, having heart surgery, will miss several weeks, should be back for playoffs.
Jack Del Rio is the favorite to take the helm temporarily, but the decision is yet to be announced.
