Phew, for a second there I was scared that Verbruggen's sock puppet wasn't going to be able to continue pocketing vast amounts of money while continue to lead the sport over the cliff.

Luckily that's not the case and we can rest assured that McQuaid will continue to guarantee that cycling has only a few years left to live. Hooray?

Don't know if this was said yet: DCM canceled their cosponsorship. Belkin is looking into being Team Blanco's sponsor. Also, Hesjadal is apparently quite sick, having bouts of coughing...

Not sure if I'm so happy with Belkin being the new sponsor.
I mean, maybe there are no other options, but I fear that Blanco/Rabo might lose their identity... Also, I think a lot of guys(especially the helpers ofc) have to go to another team. On the other side, Van Garderen(orignally even Dutch roots) & Phinney in the team wouldn't be that bad Pfft

Unless Belkin has an incredible big budget (BMC or Sky like), impossible that these two go to that team. Two of the biggest contracts in the peloton

Thank goodness that, as Pat says, the president will be decided democratically.

God forbid that the govering of sport ever became politicised.

Or that the minority actually gets to express an opinion.

What I think Irish members were looking forward to is that McQuaid would have had to have gone to the EGM and made his case to Cycling ireland members.
I suppose we shall have to wait and see if the EGM still happens. (Not that it will make any difference at all). I personally want to see what comes out of the EGM and what is said, but I doubt it will happen as now it's just pointless.

I agree.

Also worth noting is that Vincent Lavenu is both manager of AG2R and the MPCC's treasurer. So keep an eye on what he says in the coming days.

Lavenu has said the team won't ride if B sample is positive.

Or that the minority represents the over whelming majority.

Will they finish the Giro? Or pull out? My guess is they will complete it, 'cause of Betancur and Pozzo, but never know

I believe the MPCC pledge doesn't apply to GT's - they are an exception.

It's not that, the rule says the team shall not participate in the upcoming event, but it's not forced to quit currently running races.

Ah ok. I think I also read something about it not applying to upcoming GT's too but don't quote me on that - like half the Giro peloton I'm sick and therefore incoherent!

The Vance review into Australian cycling, but more importantly, the OGE team in terms of doping policies has been completed.

The team have given the public the oppurtunity to read the recommendations set out by Nick Vance, a respected anti doping expert. Get on it and read it, its on the link below. Really gives you a good insight into what is being done at OGE in terms of doping, but also, what can be done better to achieve even better persepectives towards doping.

Here's the relevant extract:

Principles of self suspension:
- All teams must be stopped
- No abandonment of the team during the World Tour events.

In the last 12 months: Two positive doping tests and / or blood tests abnormal (excluding penalties for no-show and / or information not AMA). AUTO SUSPENSION: Team 8 days from the knowledge of the second control. The car suspension begins on the 1st day of the race calendar next World Tour, with the exception of the 3 Grand Tours.

So it effectively excludes any current WT event and GT's (current or upcoming) but covers the next WT event and any others that are within 8 days of that start date. In this case Dauphine and Suisse.

Well - already on the second page of the summary, Nicki Vance pretty much states that he doesn't believe in what the riders have told him Wink

One limitation of the interview process was the publicised zero-tolerance of the OGE management in October 2012. The doping admissions of Matt White leading to him being suspended by OGE is highly likely to have meant that any team member with any doping practices in their past may not have been fully honest in their interview responses especially as the interviews were not conducted under oath.

Luca Paolini renews for 2 years with Katusha. So that puts an end at the rumours of him becoming coach of the Italian national cycling team.

Interesting he finally admits it. He is either naive, or playing naive, hard to tell. Smile

Not so much that. He may have doubts, but definetly not a firm belief. Needs to weigh up all sides of the argument.
