This is where i should step in, but baring a crash etc its just not going to happen.
Both riders and teams are just too focused and too well prepared for any other outcome

Giro's Iphone App has those squads listed for those two teams:

Danielson is a very good addition to the team. Weaker compared to Astana/Sky but still quite strong.
BMC: Evans, Cummings, Lodewyck, Morabito, Oss, Phinney, Santaromita, Van Avermaet, Wyss.
Doesn't that guy ever get tired? |

Does anyone know if one of those 3 riders goal is to finish Giro and hence not too drop after first week. Riders I am intreseted are Vivani/Bouhanni/Ferrari.

Doesn't that guy ever get tired? His strava account is constantly having rides added. Can't stop himself. |

I too believe it's gonna be Wiggins and Nibali who takes the 1-2, but Wiggings might have the upper hand because of his muttonchop-powers.

BMC
Adam Blythe (GBR), Steve Cummings (GBR), Cadel Evans (AUS), Klaas Lodewyck (BEL), Steve Morabito (SUI), Daniel Oss (ITA), Taylor Phinney (USA), Ivan Santaromita (ITA), Danilo Wyss (SUI).
A surprisingly decent sprinter's team. |

Blythe sounds indeed more reasonable as Van Avermaet.
Decent sprinter's team but who is the main sprinter?

I figure he's like Samson; all his power is concentrated in his hair.

Well he hasn't won yet this year, so that is a perfectly reasonable deduction...

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but some stages have been changed due to roadwork and other reasons.
A different finish in Florence is one of the alterations. The climb to Fiesole is still included, but the route from there will be different. Slight uphill finish in Piazzale Michelangelo.
And the climb of Vetta le Croci is much closer to Fiesole in the new route.

The other major change is far more disturbing, imo. For some reason, they've decided that a circuit stage including the Posillipo climb wasn't a good way to open the race, so they've reduced that circuit to just 4 laps, followed by 65 km of flat. Apparently because "it's a more exciting finish".

I can understand the decision to change the opening stage to make is a sprint, but the reasoning they give is terrible.
It is a sham about the finish in Firenze, but it still should be a good stage.

Is that a Purito or a Degenkolb finish on stage 9?

It's not like this wouldn't have ended up in a mass sprint anyway. More fun if they give attackers a chance, at least.

The uphill finish itself isn't very hard, but Degenkolb will probably struggle with all the climbs preceding it. Breakaway stage, I think.

Yeah, it was rather to classify the percentages. Purito is >5%, Degenkolb is less.

José Rujano is replaced in the Vacansoleil squad by Willem Wauters because of the ongoing anti-doping investigation in Padova. |
