The amount of accidents with pro cyclists involved is way too high nowadays
Tom Jelte Slagter and Bram Tankink got hit by a car in training. both say it is their own fault. going up the Fromberg and took the last corner to tight en clashed into a car
clashed google translated
The cyclists must realize that when they're not competing in a race, that theyt have to look out for our traffic, cars, etc. They don't always do that! That's why it is great that Slagter and Tankink told it was their own fault.
Okay, getting hit from behind by a car when riding on a non-cornery road is a terrible thing to happen. But like what Gasparotto happened, having a collision with a car that leaves an exit... You should be careful when riding through villages, as not all the other traffic expects a cyclist riding at high speed...
Very true. It's not always the driver's fault. Looking at the speed those cyclists go, it's easy to understand some drivers are unable to react in time.
Caution is required, from both sides!

There was an article with a doctor in a Belgian newspaper today talking about GW501516 and other performing enhancing drugs.
He said there is a pain killer called tramadol which gives an alcohol like high. He says riders could take this for the finale of a race. This could for him explain the high amount of crashes during mass sprints.
Yeah, that's probably it. It probably doesn¨t have anything to do with them doing 60km/h, looking down, trying to pass through a 50cm gap while there are 15 guys all trying to do the same.
Though it would explain Sagans ass-grabbing. I too get a frisky when I've taken alcohol-like substances. But if it's the case, someone has to ask the Rabo/Blanco-guys why they start taking it in the beginning of the race.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Indeed, that's why most crashes occur but stage 3 of last year's Giro for example. A finish bottle could perfectly explain Ferrari's manoeuvre.
Italy's suffering as expected really. Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper sounded a warning alarm when it reported that the Florence Worlds organiser lacks €3 million in funds.

Riders have always taken painkillers to dull the pain, since the 1800s. This is a large reason for crashes on descents: You can't feel the brake levers properly

Must have been during my university exams, where I lost overview over all this stuff.
But I think there weren`t profiles on the site before.
No worries
Exams go well at least?

Not just anybody can run. You have to be nominated. That's how this corruption works

Didn't the British cycling union have a guy for this? Also, I can't believe there aren't any other unions nominating anyone at all. I mean, is every union out there sleeping?
Edit: my god, my typing language has turned horrible, just look at my original post in sutty's quote... I should be sleeping myself Edited by ShortsNL on 14-04-2013 00:47

The way those organizations function makes them as conservative as possible. It's direct or indirect corruption. If anyone intends to stand against McQuaid, he'd better be sure of his success, or he'll soon vanish in oblivion after his failure. And so will those who supported that one. So, either there's no other candidate, either there's no one to back up that other candidate, either those who supported that other candidate will soon be replaced by people who supported the winner, and guess what happens come the next election ?
That, plus imagine another candidate would win. How would he not do the same and sweep off those who've patiently waited 20 years or so in that corrupt system and are still living with the hope that in another 20 years they'll be president themselves ?
"Change" ? Yes, but once they're retired.
Imagine that a scandal such as Armstrong's wasn't even enough to have somebody being candidate against McQuaid. I let you imagine what it would take to have somebody beating him.
Make no mistake, Hein Verbruggen is the UCI President. Pat McQuaid is just the name of the sock puppet he currently uses.
McQuaid himself has as much power in the UCI as I do.
