Agreed. Think the Giro should showcase itself in Italy to the foreign markets. |

Wildcards for Paris-Roubaix:
Bretagne-Séché, Cofidis, IAM Cycling, Sojasun, Europcar and Team Netapp-Endura
-------------------------------------------
The UCI has determined it will make some changes to the WT points system:
- Only the Top-10 riders of each team will count for the ranking
- If a rider changes teams, he only takes 80% of his points with him, the rest stay with his previous team
- Fewer points for the American, Asian and African rankings

80% of the points, that's an odd rule, but a decent one.
But what's the motivation behind the top 10 riders only count? |

That way teams can keep the likes of Txurruka, who don't score a lot of points but are still very useful. (It's just one explanation, I'm not sure if they were thinking the same ) |

Oh yeah, sort of protecting the good helpers/domestiques. Now they don't have to worry about scoring points, the team can only have 10 riders with points anyway. See the point, I think it's a good rule, then, actually. |

It's not a huge change. I believe the current ranking was defined by the Top-12 riders.

Well, it's getting better. Still think 80 % is too much, though. |

UCI did something good???? Dafuq is going on!
80% is still too high, agreed.
and don't see why the other tours should have a points drop either.

Too prevent guys like Sohrabi getting contracts in WT teams.
To prevent WT teams from getting their status by signing useless Asian guys who are of no use for WT teams except for their way too many points.

But with the other rule changes that wasn't going to happen anymore...
It is really unfair to those tours, especially the America Tour, which is very competitive and produces a lot of top quality riders. Now they won't get as fair a chance at a WT spot.
And with this change a team like MTN would not likely get reasonable chance at a Pro Conti license, same for teams like Champion System
I just dont think its fair is all.

@TMM: You are right, it is not fair.
I guess it is a deal with ASO and other European race organizers to make sure that the important riders are riding European races. |

How is it not fair that the races with stronger fields give more points than your average Asian race?

Eneco Tour and Tour of Poland will be the test races in WT with teams of six riders.

Uh? Those races have been giving the same points as the rest for long enough time and their fields are still crap. If anything, this would lead for some teams goign with B squads there to gather some easy points, and that would be more unfair.

Urgh... They are coming to Dublin? Shit... Theyll probably will want to finish on O connell street or outside Trinity... Dont like the idea. We already have to many god f*cking tourists running around our campus on a normal day... That doubles in holiday season and quadrouples when there is a special even (Like when JB was shocasting a McLaren in Dublin)

I see your point, but I also think that top quality riders will probably get picked up by the WT sooner or later either way, when they prove their talent. |

And secondly, I'm pretty sure UCI points play no role when it comes to awarding Pro Continental licenses. |
