+1 That was really close with those 2 seconds, Juraj had to be very sad.
But nice victory with Kreuziger, he looks much better in Liquigas colours again then in the Astana's blue one

Thanks for the kind words. The season starts indeed promising, hopefully everyone, including Kreuziger, will continue like that to get some results in the more important races as well.
Coming up next is the Giro di Sardegna with Dominik racing.

Preview
The Giro di Sardegna is one of the numerous short stage races in Italy. Irregularly staged between 1958 and 1997, the race came back in 2009 with five stages on the island of Sicily. The most recent winners are Daniele Bennati, Roman Kreuziger and Vincenzo Nibali, record winner is Eddy Merckx with four overalls.
The course in Italy is pretty demanding, not a single real flat stage. Four of five are classified as hilly, one as mountaneous. Three finishes are ascending, so there are enough opportunities to create time gaps.

In contrary to last year, when Nibali dominated the race completely, the start list of this edition of the Giro di Sardegna is very strong. Especially Katusha and Liquigas provide strong squads with more than one winning candidate.
With Damiano Cunego and Roman Kreuziger, we can only have one mission: To defend Nibali's title from last year. Lampre and even more Katusha will be strong opponents but we're confident to take the win on the demanding course.
As in Portugal, I will mostly have a free role and try to represent us in the breakaways. I defenitely have to improve my hilly skills and here's another good opportunity for that.

Good luck in Sardegna. Very strong liquigas team with both Cunego and Kreuziger. I think Dominik can go for a good break on stage 1 or 4!

Giro di Sardegna, Stage 1
The introducing stage is one of the easier ones of the race, still the loads of ups and downs will cause some trouble for quite some riders. At least, 142 kms are not too long.
Dominik's Pre-Race Comment
Today with all the short ascents and descents doesn't suit me at all. I will just sit in the pack and support Damiano and Roman, maybe set them up for they might try the first attacks on the last hill.
Km 3: | Colnago's Sascha Modolo is the first attacker of the day. | | . | Km 6: | Along with some other riders, Alessandro Vanotti tries to get lose. | | . | Km 15: | Vanotti is one half of the leading duo, accompanied by Tomas Lisowicz (Bank BGZ). But the Pole doesn't do much work and their lead doesn't go over a minute. | | . | Km 22: | The Liquigas rider got rid of Lisowicz and extended his lead to 2 minutes on the first intermediate sprint. | | . | |  | Km 48: | Vanotti takes the first mountain sprint as well but his lead decreased to a bit more than a minute. | | . | |  | Km 56: | All the up and down streches the pack. On every occasion, it splits. Vanotti is still in front. | | . | Km 75: | Vanotti is back in the peloton. Very nice start for us here on Sicily. Although Pellizotti edged out Cunego for the win, Damiano is only two seconds away. Roman achieved a great result as well so we still have both options for the GC.
The stage went well for me, too. I had a nice chat with Cunego while I protected him and guided him through the course. On the last kilometers, I pulled the escapees back together with Alessandro Vanotti and eventhough the stage didn't suit me that well, I could get a nice placement. Very encouraging!
Tomorrow will be a lot tougher so I'm going to bed now.

Nice stage for Cunego, Kreuziger and even Dominik was pretty strong after all that pacemaking, good job
Pity that Cunego lost it only by centimetres.

Giro di Sardegna, Stage 2
The second stage is already quite hard. The last climb to the Monte Ortobene is rather long and partly steep, the way to the ascent is hard, too. We can expect a nice battle of the favorites towards the end.
Dominik's Pre-Race Comment
As we need to gain time on the others, we don't want any breakaway to succeed today, so we won't participate in the attacks. The main goal will be to achieve the yellow jersey with either Damiano or Roman. I may have a shot at the young riders classification if I have a good day.

Wow! What a great stage for us! With a fantastic team work, we managed to gain the overall lead and four spots in the Top 10 – one of them for me. I have to give Alessandro Vanotti lots of credits for his performance today, he was a monster. Without him, it might have been more difficult, as he isolated the other riders almost alone.
Regarding my performance, I'm very pleased. Although I did a lot of work on the last 10 kms for Damiano, I was able to finish better than someone like Joaquim Rodriguez. It was an amazing feeling to fly past him on the last meters! The only small downer is that Diego Ulissi seems too strong to take the young riders jersey away from him. But you never know, do you?
Also, with my overall position, I won't be able to join a breakaway in future stages. That's now Damiano Caruso's or Tiziano Dall'Antonia's job.

According to the race organisation, this shall be the hardest stage. It's the only one classified as mountaneous although the last ascent looks easier than yesterday. But on the other hand, the riders have another tough climb halfway through the stage.

This race just keeps getting better. Another stage win for us, Damiano Caruso finally gets a reward for all the domestique work he does. Terrific ride today.
For Damiano, this wasn't the best stage but we were actually more worried about Michele Scarponi today which is why we're happy about today's outcome. The last two stages suit Damiano better again.
Me personally, I had a rather bad day. I didn't feel good all the time while I was protecting Cunego and after he attacked, I shortly lost focus and suddenly found myself at the end of the group. I could make up some time afterwards but more than my 21st wasn't possible. Anyway, I was able to keep my Top 10 which is fine.
