Well it sounds like a save game issue. Do you have a back-up that you could try out. SO maybe a savegame of the career from and earlier time. Maybe october in 2012?

My computer chrased at the second stage of TDU in year 2013. When I tried to start the game (PCM not the carrier) again it doesn't worked. So I reinstalled the game and it worked. But then installed the patch and PCM.Daily db put back the carrier. But when I tried to started the game again it doesn't worked. When I put the db out of the folder the game work fine but when I put it in it doesn't work. What have happend with the db?
Your save game has been corrupted. You will need to use your backup (the one with the ~ after the file name). If it doesn't work, game over for you.
Happened on some oddities while playing through the Tour de France as Team Radio Shack (Lance, Levi, Klode, Popo, Jani, Machado, Horner, Zubeldia, Chechu)...
Stage 11 should be classed as hilly so AI can respond properly. Currently, its classed as flat. I was playing as Team Radioshack, and had Lance, Levi and Klode attack together over the last little hump (Col Bayard) into Gap, and Contador didn't respond (he also had no teammates left). In fact, no one responded. Lance -- behind Contador by 7" at the start -- gained 1'09" on El Pistelero, and I felt like a cheat!
Stage 13 should be classed as hilly also. When I simmed it, breakaway finished 14'03" in front of Yellow Jersey (Lance), and Tony Martin nabbed jersey, despite having two teammates chasing breakaway, and 3 other teammates joining in chase for "dangerous riders." Oh well... congrats to Tony Martin! hehe.

I'm not in favour of classing stages as hilly, even if they are. When playing, the GC riders will attack like crazy, and that's simply not going to happen in real life.
So yes, it does require the player to 'act' real.
(That said, I haven't checked the profiles before giving you this answer - but as said: I'm not a fan of the hilly AI in PCM09)
