Quick Tips: Easy Backup of Your Save Games

Pro Cycling Manager isn't known for its stability, and most people have experienced a corrupted save game - which is a shame when you're 1 day away from winning the Tour de France ;) Luckily, there's an easy way to backup your save game.

First of all, you need to make a new shortcut for Pro Cycling Manager. Go to Computer / My Computer -> Your Hard Drive (C:) -> Program Files -> Cyanide -> Pro Cycling Manager. Inside this folder, find PCM.exe. Drag it to e.g. your desktop and select the Shortcut option.

You now have a shortcut directly to PCM. Right click your newly made shortcut and select "Attributes". In Destination, it should say something along the lines of "C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2009\PCM.exe". Now, add "-weeklysave" WITHOUT the " to PCM.exe, so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2009\PCM.exe" -weeklysave

Click OK and the game will now automatically backup your career after each week (in game). They'll be saved in Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/Database/WeeklySave. If you want to 'recover' a save game, move the backup of your choice to My Documents/PCM/Database/Solo/Name of Your DB.

Cool, thank you. How did you find this?

Short question: What do we have to add "-weekly" or "-weeklysave"?

We used it during beta testing Wink

"weeklysave" - corrected the article. Thanks Smile

Ive got a custom DB, do i have to originally save the game in this DB loaded? im having trouble loading the games once they're saved. I can see the save game in the file. but dunno where to put it so once i go back in the game i can play it again?
And does it only save once a week in the game? so if i was doing tour de france i would have to do 7 stages before it saved? plzzzzz help!Smile

Meatyriding: I have Windows 7, and it works here.

Windows 7 might forbid to write on program files, even on admin mode.
The better way to use the weeklysave parameter is installing the game in a custom directory, where the writing rights are ok. Microsoft is always hardening the writing rights in program files.

Initially, weeklysave was not supposed to be used by end users. In PCM2010 the weeklysave will be written on My documents, and i hope it will be automatically added to the game.
