Masciarelli ain´t in top form yet and he is protecting Garzelli when no other team mates are available...and then he can´t ride with best riders (I´ve already played stage 5 and Masciarelli lost about 6' if I remember correctly) |

Stage 5
Today we are facing to second mountain stage including two climbs, early Passo Rolle and especially Alpe di Siusi, where the stage ends. Although stage is short, we can expect hard battle between main contenders.
Passo Rolle - Massimo Codol takes maximum points at the summit.
Breakaway has formed in long descent. Mazzanti, Carvajal, Sestili, Brousse, Frapporti and Peterson have nic advantage over 4' at the foot of final climb.
Their chances to succeed are only theoretical though. Basso is leading peloton again and more and more riders are struggling.
11km to go, Peterson and Mazzanti are last two riders to be caught. Peloton reduced to about 20 riders. Looks like Garzelli, our last man, is in troubles, there is significant gap between him and group of maglia rosa!
He is back, good.
Marzio Bruseghin attacks! This short stage suits him well.
He managed to bridge nice gap within few moments, it looks dangerous!
Valjavac, Pellizotti, Monfort and Arroyo are trying to chase him...
...Garzelli, Cunego, Anton and Basso are here too! Garzelli recovered a bit and is ready to continue fighting!
Pellizotti pushes hard, only Anton and Stefano can follow!
Meanwhile Bruseghin supported by devil is facing to last kilometer.
Igor Anton in difficulties!
Here is chasing group, with LL Sanchez in last place.
Marzio Bruseghin has comfortable lead and can celebrate great stage far from finish line! Excellent performance of Italian climber!
Stefano Garzelli wins sprint for 2nd place over maglia rosa!
Igor Anton cracked completely and is caught by chasers just before line. They lost 50" to Garzelli and Pellizotti and 2'18" to Bruseghin!

Fantastic race by Garzelli but too bad that Bruseghin had that great legs.
Keep the good results up though!

Stage 6
This stage is 247km long and we are moving to Austria. Riders have to pass two climbs, Neukirchen and much harder Gerlospass. In opposite of all predictions whole stage was relatively peaceful. Early breakaway group worked well together, most dangerous rider was Jose Ivan Gutierrez, 23rd overall.
Whilst his companions were caught in Gerlospass, Gutierrez continued in his effort and got over summit with nice lead before P.
Noone in P. showed interest to chase him down, so Jose Ivan Gutierrez takes stage win!
There were several attacks in last kilometres which caused peloton has split, most of main contenders were in front though.

Stage 7
Another very long stage, today with atypical profile. Surprisingly it was one of the best sprinters in field Mark Reenshaw, who spent most of stage alone in front, but he was caught about 60km before line. Massimiliano Gentili surprised everyone in sprint and took great win for Ceramica Flaminia. Pellizotti finished 3rd and took some bonus seconds.

thanks mate!
Stage 8
Another more than 200km long hilly stage finishes in Bergamo. There are several small climbs, an ideal place for attacks. We must pay attention to main contenders and must not to miss anything important.
50km to go, Losada and Goubert are in front, chasing by Ivanov, Martinez and Gaia.
Surprising early move from Igor Anton!
Barredo and Soler are following. It will be hard last 50km of stage for everyone.
35km to go, new situation...Losada, Ivanov, Barredo, Anton and Soler are ahead with 1'30 over the pack. Goubert is lost somewhere between, while Martinez and Gaia were already caught.
Monfort, Cunego, Basso, Giunti and Caruso!
Next are Bruseghin, Valjavec, Arroyo and Baliani. This is madness! It´s almost 30km to go and everyone is attacking, while Garzelli have decided to wait for move from maglia rosa.
And here is Pellizotti! Stefano is a bit behind...
...but managed to join maglia rosa group after Solto Collina summit.
20km for Anton, Soler and Barredo...Monfort with Basso are 50" back, group of main contenders including Garzelli another 20".
14km before line, Bruseghin attacks chasing group! Caruso, Arroyo and Garzelli can follow, but not Pellizotti!
They joined Basso and Monfort. Leading group and 10km banner are already in sight.
Caruso keeps attacking, it´s too much for Monfort and also Marzio Bruseghin!
But Caruso destroyed himself and isn´t able to keep with new leading group. Basso, Garzelli, Arroyo, Barredo, Soler and Anton are now in front.
Arroyo in difficulties, while Caruso finds second breath and joined leaders again. We are at the foot of last short, but very steep hill. Who will survive, can think about success.
Igor Anton attacks once more! This guy is incredible. And Stefano Garzelli is only man, who can follow!
Both leaders pass the summit with nice advantage, only short downhill and sprint remain!
Stefano Garzelli has broken Anton in final sprint and wins stage 8!!!! But Anton must be happy too, his great effort is prized by maglia rosa! Garzelli is 2nd, only 2" back, what a great stage for our team!
