The Difficult Topics

Do you know what the funny thing is?
Politicians of the leave campaign blame the EU for everything which in reality was caused by the British government.
Cameron cannot admit his own failures to promote staying in the EU.

Now the sad part:
Winners and losers both denied the real cause of the problem. So how will they ever solve them?

But seriously is an Irish passport available to third generation people? Both my grandparents on my dad's side are/were from Ireland and it would be pretty fricking cool to get that even though I'm obviously not moving there...

I thought the EU was a good idea, but the results have disappointed. The States have open borders and a common currency, but a central government that's elected by those governed, and I think that's the largest difference. I live in the southern US and we regularly receive more federal funds than we pay in taxes, and in return we export unemployment and crime to the rest of the country. Most in the US never think about that or are even aware, unlike the EU. We think of ourselves as a single entity, when in fact we are in many ways fifty different entities.

@Hale

The diffrence is that US has a short history, united most of the time.
In EU we have a lot of diffrent cultures langues and when it comes down to real life, everyountry is just trying to help themself.

Our prime minister (denmark) express consern about the future of EU, but 1 minutes later he talks about making an agreement with England to help danish fishers to keep fishing in English terretory.

An unimportant detail in EU, but important if you a "fishing" danish votes.

Yeah, you need to have one grandparent who was an Irish citizen in order to claim Irish citizenship yourself. It's a reasonably simple process, although I'm not sure if you can have dual nationality if not - you'll need to check, although an Irish passport gets you visa free travel to more places than a US one I think.

4 American police officers shot dead at a "peaceful" protest in Dallas.

And the Americans will still defend their pre-historic right to bear arms.

Looks like revenge of the black for all those people shot to death in recent weeks. Sad culture of violence, thanks god i am so far from USA and its "culture".

There is no way that America will relax its gun laws so unfortunately this together with the racism of the police will become more common.

As far as I heard one of the dead black people was like:

"Oh officer, just so you know. I got a gun. Just for your info." Then he wanted to grab something on the back seat and the cop was feared.

I'll never understand why foreigners constantly feel the need to comment about the state of affairs of another country that doesn't involve them whatsoever.

Well, I will never to go america for reasons like that. I don't want to go into a country where everyone has a gun.

I mean how hard would it be to take guns away from regular patrolmen and replace them with high power tasers? Tasers are f*cking disabling and don't kill you, and can discharge multiple times if needed. Non-leathal and can do the job that a gun is supposed to do (unless Police are supposed to kill people... which is possible in the USA....). Then you can just train certain officers in firearms and have them on standby for extreme situations where lethal force can be needed.

At least you'd be de-escalating some of the situation that has been growing over the years. Guns would still be prevelant but it might lower their use, or at least go some way to lowering the social tension. At least if you taser someone wrongly they don't die and you don't anger a community to such an extent.

Coming from an American, that almost made me spit out my dinner. You guys are the last to talk about getting into other countries business.

Once again, this proves how powerful the - IMO disgusting - phenomenon of generalization is. A white cop shoots a black man, and suddenly all white cops are bad guys. Don't tell me there's not a single white policeman who suddenly is ashamed of himself and his badge. And this comes back in so damn many situations.

Or is it normal that growing a long beard or stating you're a muslim nowadays is enough to get you accused of terrorism? Same back when WW II was fought. Not all Nazis were German and not all Germans were Nazis. And now all of a sudden all Brits are dumb fools while only a small majority voted for the Brexit?
Applied to the weapons topic: do some guys really believe all Americans carry weapons? I don't doubt the fact a lot of American want to stay away from guns as much as they can. It's not likely I will ever live in the USA, but yes, I'd try to keep my family away from guns too.

@Paul, while I both respect and understand you're opinion, the 'I don't want to go into a country where everyone has a gun' is just a pathetic statement. But again, if that's what you think I respect both your opinion and your reaction to stay away, because that's the only thing you should do if you don't like a certain country. Stay away and don't try to convince others to stay away too (not that you tried but some guys certainly would).

Normally I try avoid topics or discussions that don't concern my own life. I mind my own business and sometimes I wish a lot of other people would do that too. But now I really like TMM's idea: why not use tasers? It neutralises dangerous people as effectively as normal guns do, and at least cops wouldn't be the difference between life and death anymore. That's not what they are there for.

The tasers the current policemen have aren't powerful enough right now, people that are on drugs, usually hallucinates, have been able to resist/ have been unaffected by tasers. We could increase their power, but then they would have the power to kill.

Guns will never get taken away, it would be too costly, it would be a multi-trillion dollar effort.

There's this thing called empathy. It doesn't stop at borders. Definitely didn't stop when 20 6-7 year old kids were murdered, and the US's answer was no change needed in gun laws
