Making cycling about nationalities is about the dumbest thing I see happen in this forum. Who the hell cares where some fuck was born? Cycling is so much more than that. |

I merely stated that he is Kenyan and if it should count as a British winner, when he only holds a British passport, were did I say cycling was about nationalities. My opinion is you should represent the country you were born and no other although I can understand why Froome changed a British nationality to further is career.

Speaking as someone formally from the UK (albeit, only half of me) and who had to grow up there, but managed to escape the place, I can confirm there are indeed many morons present. Of course, they're present everywhere, but the English kind tend to be quite audible.
They're also very blindly patriotic, especially when it comes to sporting events. Wiggins would have to start performing free abortions in Trafalgar square on prime-time TV to lose much of his popularity and 'trust', for example.
Zroome will be heralded until he's caught, at which point he will be clearly identified as Kenyan or South African. Probably the latter ... you know ... apartheid ... doping ... clear progression and he was never really British anyway.
Anyway, horrible little island as far as many of the people go (beautiful, otherwise). There are many exceptions, of course, and I'm sure most of the British members of this forum fall into that category.
Society is founded on hypocrisy, chaps.

Im British and somewhat agree. Everyone thinks that Cycling in the UK is recognized, it is in the media and to the family who like Cycling. But as soon as you go out on the road as an amateur you get heckled, screaming dangerous crazy motorists who enjoy trying to run you of the road. And it is the majority rather than the minority. Amateur wise this country is very unfriendly to cyclists which is a real shame.

In all this nation bashing that the British nationalists are resorting to, I feel left out. They are only attacking the Euro zone, I want some hate too.
Oh wait, Porte. Damn.

Then he'd be absolved. Some evil Frenchie or Spaniard would be responsible.
They're not attacking you convict Aussies because they're busy trying to be 'graceful while victorious' ... not a strong point.
Besides, everyone knows no Australians ever won a race.

Come on, old chap. Kenya is part of the Empire, after all. At least, when it's behaving.

Froome sprints up Mont Ventoux and leaves better class of climbers for dead.
Brailsford preaches clean program but refuses to release Froome's SRM meter data !!!!!!!
Froome never placed in the top 10 of Time Trial prior to last years TDF, but yet challenges Time Trial specialists such as Tony Martin over 30 + kms.
3 Major Tours, mutiple World Tour events and still "NO BAD DAYS"
Absolutely digusting and knowing what we know now about what performance enhancing programs can achieve. IT STINKS !!!!!

i have desperately defended Froome ( i am a fanboy, if you like ) to my friends all year, and last, But now even I have a doubt creeping in..ala LA.
When he gave an interview yesterday and spoke of the Ventoux and how cool it would be to win there, I could see that he knew he was going to win!

Honestly, I don't think I'm even going to watch the rest of the Tour. It's just so sad that we went through the Armstrong era (Yet it was still somewhat entertaining to watch, mainly '03) and had some good TDF'S in 2010 and 2011...
Deja vu, It's so obvious, and it puts such a stain on the race that frankly may never get out of the doping era.
Froome, personally a nice guy, very respectful to the media, but the performance is just impossible to believe. The numbers, attacking the "former best climber in the world" without even getting out of the saddle with a cadence of 105 or 110 RPM, It is disgraceful.
And no, don't tell me Sky is clean, Please open your eyes and realize the world we live in. People will cheat to win and get the glory, fame, and money. This is worse than Armstrong in some ways, mainly because us fans are much smarter when it comes to doping. When you see it, you know it.
Hopefully one day the Tour can be a "clean" race, both in terms of perspective and performance, but it will take a very long time to get to that point. Hell, I might not be alive if it occurs.
"Cycling is now the the world's cleanest sport." - Chris Froome

I remember when Froome first attacked. I was screaming.
Someone please tell this robot that people don't ride up mountains at 60 km/h
