This is very close, really messed up as I thought Gilbert could have won Flanders with something like this, but I went with my head and it didn't pay off. Nonetheless, a great few weeks for me and I hope for everyone else too! |

I think Gilbert was a sentimental favourite for a lot of people but they go with it. Sagan crash took away a lot of points.

Vuelta al Pais Vasco Result
Podium
1) Alejandro Valverde
2) Alberto Contador
3) Ion Izagirre
Answer to Bonus Question: Who will win the ITT on Stage 6? is Primoz Roglic.
The top 2 seeds in the Basque Country captured the top two spots on the podium, with Valverde once again out-riding Contador this year. The duo were also the most popular picks among member with six picking them both and only Croatia not picking either. One of Croatia's picks, Ion Izagirre, was also a favoured pick, with four more members picking him and scoring points for his third place.
Abhishek and Aquarius got the podium absolutely right, giving us the second and third double points podium bonuses this year. But, like Emre at Omloop before them , they missed out on the bonus question. Only Selwink picked Roglic to win the final stage ITT and he picks up the points for the same. He was third in this race.
It was a high-scoring race with Croatia the only participant to pick up less than 25 points.
The updated table will be posted along with the results of Paris - Roubaix. Stay tuned...

Podium
1) Greg van Avermaet
2) Zdenek Stybar
3) Sebastien Langeveld
GVA capped off an incredible spring with a win in the Hell of the North! An up and down race culminated with him sprinting past Stybar in the last 10 meters to claim his first monument victory. There would be no fantasy farewell for Tom Boonen, who finished down in 13th. And did anyone notice Hayman finish 11th ?
As far as the game is concerned, you either had GVA and got 40 points or you didn't. Abhishek and Croatia didn't, and got a nil score in this round Six others who picked him, took home the points and the win. No one picked Stybar or Langeveld. Emre unfortunately did not send in a prediction, his first miss of the season.
The updated table looks like this:
Name | Races Entered | Bonuses | Total Points | Raziz | 15 | 100 | 405 | jandal7 | 14 | 120 | 395 | Selwink | 15 | 100 | 370 | AbhishekLFC | 14 | 135 | 345 | emre99 | 14 | 115 | 330 | Marcovdw | 15 | 60 | 315 | purepasd | 15 | 80 | 315 | Aquarius | 9 | 55 | 250 | Luxemburger | 7 | 40 | 115 | Croatia14 | 15 | 80 | 110 | Squire | 4 | 60 | 100 | trekbmc | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Emre's miss costs him big-time as he drops from 3rd to 5th place in the standings. Aquarius makes up a lot of ground this weekend with two wins. Having not predicted the first half-dozen races, his conversion rate is among the highest in the league. At the top, Raziz opens up a small gap to Jandal while Selwink is now in a lonely third place. Marcovdw and Purepasd remain inseparable. Croatia is still struggling to catch up to those above him. Only five members remain who have participated in all races this season so far.

Great to see that I gaining ground on the leaders. The bad thing for me is that even i'm able to catch up on the others, i will be destroyed because of the Season Long Predictions (as i wasn't part of the game when that happened).

Not so sure about Amstel coming up as there are so many options. Could be a hilly sprinter with the route being changed, a solo attack or a smaller group going off the front. |
