Dumb move from Orica to let Mathews go either way.
Maybe OGE don't have a choice in the matter, if Matthews wants to leave then why would OGE be able to convince him? Matthews isn't tied to the team just because he is Australian and they are a Aust registered team, look at how Matthews came through the system and you can see he was very much Euro focused. I think a team like Giant makes perfect sense to me, also OGE have plenty of you talented riders and relieving them of Matthews potential next wage bill will free them up to bring in some more help for Chaves and re-sign some other talents.
Also who mentioned Gilbert to OGE? Now that would be a waste of money
So they are some sort of Ajax of cycling? This is cycling, you need results and you need them now. Also that team is already lacking in quality, so letting Matthews go would make that roster even more empty. It's not like they're Quickstep where you have 4-5 leaders for cobbles alone.
Orica is simply refocussing. More climbers, less sprinters.
But why not keep both. It's not like they need leaders in terms of climbing, just 3-4 solid domestiques. |

Philippe Gilbert has confirmed he won't be staying at BMC next year.
It's hard to see him going anywhere other than Lotto Soudal Probably he'll go to FDJ, if Madiot can pay him. Astana is an option too
FDJ already lacking funds to pay both Pinot and Demare.
Demare is interesting..but go with Pinot this is at the moment only french rider who can be great at TdF
And then you have Barguil, Latour and Bardet still grooming an ready to do great things. Maybe not necessarily win the Tour, but top-3 is plausible for all 3. In a somewhat weak Tour, even Rolland is if he can manage not to lose 14 minutes in the first week.
The puncheurs Gallopin and Alaphilippe would probably also be a little disappointed by that statement. So would Coquard and Bouhanni.
The French are so talented right now. Hoping for a g8 Tour.
How many generation already talented french rider has been wasted ..at french team? |

They might lack the top shelf riders that other squads have but they are a better team than a good portion of the WT squads, OGE gets results as they seem to have a well functioning team on and off the road. Matthews is important but if he wants to leave then whats the team meant to do? Keep coughing up more money to keep him whilst having to let others go, both the Yates and Ewan are out of contract.

It's not just the money but it certainly plays a part, they have other riders to try re-sign and as you've pointed out they might want to bring in another climber or 2 now that Chaves has shown he can compete in a GT. Also Gerrans and Matthews just don't get along and with Gerrans still having another year left on his contract it might also be playing a part in this, I'm sure if OGE could pick right now they would keep Matthews but they signed Gerrans on a stupidly long contract so are stuck with him for 1 more year

(doubtful) Rumours in Germany saying that Sagan might be a man for Bora. They´ve announced a big press conference, and a possibility is that Specialized joins as main sponsor bringing Sagan with them.
https://www.radsport-news.com/sport/sp..._99164.htm - it´s a german site though
That would have to lead to a big strengthening in the classics department I guess...
if they´ll promote to WT I also see that Leopold König might come back along some successful IAM guys like Brändle, Kluge, Frank,...

Does Sagan need teammates? I don't think I've ever seen him have or use them? I kind of get the impression he's like Robbie McEwan in that he'd rather do his own thing without them.
I like the sound of those Bora to WT rumours, riders like Frank could definitely add some quality and depth to their squad as well.

He would have much more support at Bora than at Tinkoff to be fair. Bar Gatto, the Tinkoff's classics department is quite bad.
At Bora, he would have Scott Thwaites, Paul Voss, Benedetti and Schillinger, all of them could help Sagan. Especially Thwaites, who's becoming a real top notch rider. |

Here is the g8, quite medieval isn't it. And it is a remnant of the 1300s! Stone laid by the bare hands of medieval builders and stone masons - it isn't high enough for the treadmill to be used but we do know they used some sort of early scaffolding-type structure - quite smart isn't it. There's not much to tour you around with this g8, shall we move on to the next attraction?
You're very welcome in advance

Hm. The really important thing is of a possible move from Sagan to Bora: Mühlberger learns a bit by working for $agan and soon the padawin will overcome the Master.

Have they ditched their development programme in favour of just signing the entire Danish U21s yet?

Hmm.
He will probably play the role of Aru 2014-2015 now. Good call now that Nibali is moving, he will be the team seconds best rider already and his schedule shouldn't clash with Aru's if there won't be any 100th Giro shenanigans. I'd like to see him on a different team for some reason, tho. I've always felt that was somewhat of a weird move to Astana, but it has proven wise so far. Lets see how much they back him for the upcoming Vuelta
And on Sagan and Bora: Definitely go for it! Would be good for Sagan to be the undisputed leader for once. |

Lopez is young so staying with his current team (yes they are a horrid team) is a good move, gives him time to keep developing whilst getting opportunities to ride for himself. Astana are getting a budget cut so I don't see them bringing in any new big GC names
