There is soooo much time until tour 3rd. week. Contador can not ride both tour in peak.
Anyway Quintana has something that is poison for Contador.
Contador can follow Froome...so far never Quintana.
Maybe because Contador knows Froome is his biggest rival and if he lost time in mountain it's going to be hard for him to take that time if there's any time trial. Quintana is strong in mountain don't get me wrong but he's weak in time trial. Columbians are never really good in time trial excluding Rigoberto Uran. |

Contador defeated Quintana in stunning and remarkable fashion last year in Tirreno-Adriatico. His double stage wins have been nothing but epic there. At the Vuelta, he was better (in my opinion) than Quintana despite coming from an injury, although I'm reluctant to say that since Quintana planned to peak in third week. Riis or Stromeon would probably disagree harshly. So, schemantics really.
Alas, there's no "freezing" on Contador's part. He just didn't have the legs. When a guy like Mollema finishes ahead of Contador, you know that Quintana and Contador are on a different level right now. Apparently he had a crash a week ahead of Tirreno, and it is reported he crashed on stage 4. His opening prologue at Tirreno-Adriatico was pretty bad, being only 2 seconds faster than Quintana himself, indicating that he's "not there yet", like at all. Neither he shouldn't be there yet actually. He will need all power come the two GTs. On the other hand, I can imagine that Quintana had a solid gameplan coming into Tirreno, looking for payback for the prior year.
Me, I'm very fine with Bertie's results so far. He has done his job in winter, his weight looks fine. Since he does the double this year, those stage races can hurt his ambitions in the long run. I'm not worried at all. Rijs, De Jongh, Basso and him know what they are doing.

Hoping Yates can finish top 10 on the overall. Need a good TT to stay where he is. |

Some say me made it 1sec, some he's out of it. Gotta wait for final time standings.
Anyway, moronic

Yay!
Seemed like Nairo went well, but he was rather slow. He probably didnt went as fast around some corners etc. as he had a margin, but Im glad they dont have to go out on a flat 50 km time trial in TdF. |

Mollema was good in TT, with time even better than Uran. TFR has surely helped him in TT. |

He cruised on a TT stage finishing 3 mins down on Fabian on a 11'30'' TT.

So nearly missing the points jersey... Okay, quite moronic, or rather nonchalant. |

Quintana was poor at TTing up to about 2012-2013 but has improved a lot in the past couple of years; today's performance was sub-par by his standards, but he did have some time to play with so it is understandable. Yes he is weaker (note the comparative) than Froome and Contador at TTing but so are most people and he's really not that much significantly worse than them.
On a slightly different note:
So pleased to see Quintana win overall, although it was basically confirmed on Terminillo, there was always the possibility of a mishap in the ITT but no such thing occurred. This is a really important result for him, showing that he can beat 2014-2015 Contador, which he hasn't really done before and bodes well for the rest of the season and indeed the Tour (although Froome is perhaps looking the more likely threat at this stage?)

Yeah definitely, this was a point he had to work on. But to be fair, he could only improve his Time Trialing since the horrendous performance that was stage 20 last year at le Tour.

Quintana did win the GC but that is clearly because most GC riders were conservative and are not in top shape yet. Look at Alberto Contador in good shape there's no way Quintana would have get a marginal win. But Contador got no choice to let Quintana go because the Giro and the Tour is his main focus so he needs to be careful with his peak form. |
