Gerrans did the best wheelsucking to win
Yeah the race was average but wheelsucking? That is absoute rubbish, he let his team mates do the work and he played to his strengths. I get really tired about this wheelsucking bullshit that gets thrown around by people watching races. ITS CALLED TACTICS!!!
Tactics called wheelsucking, why are you so mad?
What?
What what? When you use CAPS LOCK and ton of excalmation marks, you seem mad because of it...
And Mb just descibed with which tactics Gerrans won, by wheelsucking. We all know it is the most boring way of racing. Thats okay I just didn't understand what you meant but now I do I wasn't mad I just dislike the term wheelsucking, people don't use it a way to describe a good tactic to win a race but to bag a rider out basically saying they didn't deserve the victory. Sorry for the caps Avin

It's the same way Sagan always wins, and nobody seems to care about that?

Well, it is true it sounds like the victory is less deserved, but that is because it is somewhat boring race for the win (you dont see the rider for 260kms, only in last kilometre). Victory is weight the same, but we enjoyed that not much.

Anyway on another topic, I'm really enjoying seeing Pozzovivo at AG2R this season and last - being in all of the WT races throughout the season has really helped his confidence in races outside of the Giro
Also it looks like they have finally got the bike fit correct with Pozzovivo, he always looked like a little kid riding a adults bike

In went crazy in front of TV seeing Gilbert hunting attacks and not supporting them. Then Sanchez is attacking and it looked like he did not know what to do. It looked like BMC had no tactic. They could not decide bringing Gilbert to the last slope or attacking.
OGE did it right for Gerrans hold the pack together bring him to the last slope and he will make it.
But there were lots of possibilities for the other favorites to get away but nobody wanted to work with each other.
Bad racing!
But thats the mentality of today winning is all. 2nd is the first loser.
The same goes to some users here in the forum.

The problem is the WT points, teams would rather finish 5th then try something to get a podium or a win, so everyone with a remote chance of a top 10 needs to wait until the last climb. Don't risk WT points by attacking early seems to be the current rule.
And I still can't believe how Martin missed that turn. I think he would've made it.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Lets not take anything away from either Gerrans and Valverde. I think Valverde might panicked a bit and opened his sprint a bit too early. Wise and great sprint by Gerrans.
- Yes it was a piti Martin crashed, but im dead certain he at best would finish 3th. |

Cycling has changed..it is more boring.
So when they dope and ride in a more exciting way, it's being blasted for cheating.
And when they don't dope (allegedly) and play more carefully, because no one has the resources go full retard, it's being blasted for boring.
Seems to be a popular attitude recently....
IMHO cycling is simply a sport of tactics rather than excitement. Just like snooker. From time to time something exciting happens, but other than that it's just a few hours of positioning, pace control, calculation and sightseeing. If you don't enjoy that kind of sport, how come are you a cycling fan?

I have to admit I do not follow WT points and UCI licensing that closely, since in the end it's always a matter of money. Can someone explain me shortly what is this about?

In a monument that is much better than 39th.

I somehow doubt it was a pen. For one the pen would probably have snapped in half.
