I'm surprised there weren't any under 25's at the tour, is it because they're not developing quickly enough?

As we're fast approaching 2030 (July 2029 now) I was thinking of something like a "stat-galore" meaning now is the time to ask me about all possible and impossible things regarding the game world.
Is there a riders who's palmares you want to know? Best riders of a certain nation? The list of winners from a certain race?
You name it, and I'll do my best to provide it, no matter how much digging I have to do!

Could we see if any records have been broken and see the 'achievements screen' as well? |

2029
Like water and oil, like dog and cat, like Germany and the US
Ignacio Moreno shockingly announced his retirement at the age of 30, just one year after winning the Giro. He wsn't the only one to leave us, Spanish sprint phenomenon Pol Pacasios and the Irishman Karl Dunn also retired.
Last year we saw the breakthrough of two great talents, Peter Helbig and Alexander Schwarz. Many were asking themselves is last years success could be repeated, and more importantly; could the 26 year old Schwarz be the one who could win 6 Tour de Frances or maybe 12 Grand Tours, having allready gotten a Tour and a Vuelta under his belt?
The duo couldn't emulate last years spring season, but in their absence Völker and Hohmann stepped forward. The big shock of the season came early, with Moldovas Anatolie Rata winning both Gent-Wevelgem and Ronde van Vlaanderen. Jozef Kaminski had his first big season as a professional rider and he took full advantage of it. Not many can brag about winning Amstel Gold Race, L-B-L, Lombardia and the Youth-jersey in the Tour in their first year.
Shane Scott, who had a dissapointing 2028, was back in the Giro and won the historic race for a 2nd time. This was only a sign of what was to come from the American. When the Tour de Fance arraived, Schwarz was the red hot favourite, even though this was only his 2nd appearance. With Scott allready having won his first major win of the season, many where hoping for a great battle in the Frrench Alps between Germany and the US. Sadly, that was not to be. Schwarz and his team "Air France" had a dissasterous TTT, coming last and allmost 6 minutes behind Scott and his Ekoï.
Even though the two finished allmost side by side in every stage after this, Schwarz couldn't get an advantage and finished in a dissapointing 5th place. Moreno took the 2nd place behind Scott, who won the yellow jersey for the first time, leading to even more specualtion as to why he is retireing.
After the failed Tour, Schwarz didn't start in the Vuelta, making it an easy win for Ballesteros to take his 2nd win. The spaniard now has 2 wins and 3 second-places in 5 consecutive years. Being only one win short of equaling the record, all those second-places might come back to haunt him.
The autumn saw Helbig return to his form of last year, taking several impressive wins. Being only 26 years old, he might be a recurring element on the podium, along with Jsosez Kaminski, age 25.

Here you are, sadly Moreno retired last year and as you can, there arn't anyone following him anytime soon.
Also, the list of GT-, Monument- and WC-winners in 2029. Several things can be taken note of; it's almost been 20 years and France only has 1 GT, Colombia had an absolutely insane period with Quintana, Betancur, Uran and Henao. If they are ever to be equaled, it's not going to be untill 2043, atleast. Also, Belgium is the only nation to have won all five monuments while Slovakias 8 wins all stem from Peter Sagan. The 8 Ronde van Vlaanderens are all thanks to Sep Vanmarcke.

Here's the list of the best riders as of January 1st, 2030. Kaminski and Helbig are the best hill-riders at the moment, by far. Thankfully, they're quite young, both 26 I think.

Thanks a lot, must have been some work!
Sagan and Kittel definitely show their dominance in the records, with the Eneco, Plouay and Vatenfall dominantions being particularly impressive. Same with Martin and Vanmarcke, but already knew about them.
Also very cool to see some of the achievements being broken. I guess the ardennes triple has proved to be too tough so far. Froome, Vanmarcke and Sagan as well as the Colombians showing to have become legends of the sport there.
48 Tour stages for Cavendish stands out for me though, as well as Kittels 49 at the Giro. Couldn't ever see that happening in real life. |
