The Main Players
***
- Bradley Wiggins - Sky
I can't really look beyond Sir Bradley for this one. Whilst there are a number of good all-rounders on this tour, Bradley is the best of the bunch. With dominant time trialling skills (TT 80), plus unarguable skill on the climbs (Mo 77, Hil 75) (even if it is wheel-sucking ), combined with the selfless support of Lopez, Dombrowski and Knees, he has to be the favourite for this race.
**
– Po-ding Kim – Europcar
The best of the rest, and Bradley’s real challenger is the new North Korean on the block. Having himself excellent all round talent (Mo 76, Hil 76, TT 79) he very possibly give Bradley a run for his money and make this a fantastic race to watch. He may suffer though with a lack of support as it come near the end of the crucial climbs.
- Tanel Kangert – Astana
The Estonian has shown terrific improvement this past year and will be looking to carry on his development as he moves into the leadership role here for the boys in blue. Able to match Wiggins on the climbs, he could well overpower the Brit and look to hold on for the time trial, which he can handle very well (TT 76).
*
- Joaquim Rodriguez – Katusha
The Spaniard is far and away the best climber in the race (Mo 81, Hil 81) and should at least be looking at 1 stage win. I would be surprised if he were to be holding yellow by the end as with TT 71 he’s likely to lose a sizeable chunk to the others on Stage 4. Yet who knows, with some really aggressive riding on the climbs, he could make a go of it.
- Pieter Weening – Orica
The Dutchman is seriously lacking support at the Australian outfit, yet at the same time he is more than capable (Mo 75, Hil 77, TT 74) of doing very well here in South America. And given how plucky he is, he will certainly add to the excitement of the race.
– Thomas de Gendt – Vacansoleil
Whilst I doubt that the Argentinians will be blest enough to get to see such heroics as his Stelvio ascent, Thomas still has the ability to please (Mo 75, Hil, TT 76) at least his sponsors, and it will be interesting to see how he plays his hand here in the southern hemisphere.
Best of the rest
Even outside of these 6, there are 3 others who stand out as ones to watch: Josef Hintermuller (Mo 76, Hil 75, TT 73), Ivan Basso (Mo 77, Hil 75, TT 72) and Robert Gesink (Mo 75, Hil 77, TT 74) provided he can stay on his bike.
As for the points jersey, it's impossible to look beyond the imposing Peter Sagan, who will undoubtably take at least 1 stage and by this pundits prediction, the green jersey. Look out for some hilarious victory celebrations.
Beside the comedic Slovakian, there are a couple of teams that could look to spoil the party. The van Poppel duo and Sky's Swift machine with Rowe in tow could possibly have a stab at it, though I highly doubt their success.
Interesting that even with a change of roster riders, that nothing major changes with the main contenders

You placed the Ethiopian flag at Kangert. For the rest, a good preview, although it could all have fitted in a single post

Oh, for the Korea DPR flag, just look up one and copy the image link of it
Edit: Europcar page 1 has a suitable one

Nice preview!
Not sure if Po-Ding will tolerate having a south-korean flag though...
Damn, should've sent Coquard...
Edit: overlooked Ollfardh's post

Not sure, but I doubt Ivan Basso obtained a France passport recently.
Looks like the sprinters field is really weak here. Think Sagan could win at least 2 stages.

Coming up, still working on that though having technical difficulties with that :/
Once I have it nailed down, I'll get it to you. And thanks for the tip, sorry for that.

Good spot, I thought it might make things interesting, was hoping no-one would notice and I could sign him for AG2R next season |

edit: one of the best support threads I've ever seen. also if you use a image link and the link get's deleted you get a big "this link is broken" image to replace it and that messes up the whole preview

Nice preview, but how is the case of riders doing more races at same time handled?

Great preview , and you get deducted points if a rider does overlapping races.
