Woops, there goes Andys hope for a Ardenne-Giro-Tour-triple.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

There are always a couple of podium contenders who fall on the cobbled stage. (I think with pain in my heart back at '04) But I like when it's in the parcours, always gives for a good stage. And it's always great to see the GC contenders being tested on something else than climbs.

On a related note apparently the self styled UCI Overlord was at the recent presidential vote - bizarre though says it all.
Advising McQuaid at that I believe.
Yeah, you couldn't make it up, it's just too ridiculous.
It's pro cycling, we are the only sport which can compete with wrestling in ridiculousness.
I dunno. I think Boxing would disagree with you
I dunno how much diff the cobbles will make tbh. I kinda like them in there cos i feel you should have to be good on all road terrains (flat/hills/mountains/cobbles/descents). My only prob is that they do cause silly crashes and i don't really like guys dropping due to crashes/mech's. Then there the fact that really, I don't think any of the GC guys are that good to make a gap. |

Maybe not the GC contender himself, but with the help of his team why not. Andy did it in '10.

I love the idea and really hope it works but I just hope we avoid the Frank Schleck crash situation from last time.

Great news, i am rooting for all around Tour every year and cobbles certainly serves that purpose. I am ready fro Sagan show there and Andy,Kreuziger and half of riders bitching because of it.

Maybe, based on last edition experience, Saxo will take next year Breschel instead of Noval and trio Breschel-Bennati-Tossato will make echelons on cobbles? |

I just hope we don't get a bunch of influential riders taking charge and more or less stopping the peloton because cobbles are "unfair".

At least they won't take Noval as he has just announced the end of his career

Please also write a short summary, not just post link.
Apparently, Santambroggio thought about suicide but guys on Twitter luckily stopped him from doing so. |

Well, it's quite shocking, no matter what or who. Luckily, he has decided to be wise and remain under the humans.

Hopefully not too many serious crashes but I'd like cobble stone for some nice time gaps in the first week. Should be fun to watch. I can imagine that Froome/Sky might have a problem but then again, they will probably be the only ones who come out of the cobblestone stage without harm and the Tour is already decided that day.

That would actually make perfect sense and is very likely I think. Saxo Bank like to gain time wherever it's possible (Contador's Vuelta 2012, Wind stage TdF 13), and cobble stone should be quite a good terrain for that.

Someone tell Cookson to stop getting people's hopes up . Apparently Cookson is in talks with WADA about an independent investigation into the UCI's murky past.
Whether it would achieve anything is another question. Then again if McQuaid is as incompetent hiding and destroying evidence as understanding finances then "trololol".

Good. Now we need a proper independent testing. I didn't like this bit though:
However it seems Hein Verbruggen will remain honoury president of the UCI.
That must be a joke?

The expanded stroy is here https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cooks...s-position
Suggests there is no process to remove him as in theory he has no input, just a meaningless title. I would imagine and hope that will be the reality now... |
