Still nowhere compared to football or tennis.
Still incredible how much it has raised in 10 years. In 2006, only Boonen, Cunego and Valverde were worth over 1 million
It's a wonder how Valverde made ends meet with all his training expenses... |

Novikov's positive is also really bad news for Vacansoleil's hopes to find a new sponsor.

Boonen bought a Lamborghini with that money. Too bad he had to avoid a cat.
Plus not mentioned yet: Boonen payed 2 million to the income tax authorities to avoid a lawsuit.

Seriously what is it with high earning sportsmen that they feel they don't have to pay tax like the rest of us? Yes they often have short careers and yes the tax bill can be high but come on you earn enough money to afford it. |

The list just got too long. Ricco, Mosquera, Rujano, Flecha, Bole, Novikov... Why on earth does he keep signing all these shitty foreign riders that nobody in Holland or Belgium even care about. It's so frustrating, especially cause I love the Dutch/Belgian heart of the team: Poels, De Gendt, Westra, Markus, Hoogerland, Boeckmans, Van Poppel, Kreder... it's a shame for all them, especially the young talents, they deserve to be in a better team.
I wouldn't say it's a shame for Johnny Testosterone Hoogerland, but well, I'll leave it to you. |

Well I think that Poels, De Gendt and Westra are suspicious as well, but I also love the Dutch-Belgian core of Vacansoleil-DCM. I don't think should be a legit rider to like or hate a rider since you're never sure that a certain rider is clean, so you never can't be sure how to like or not.
I find it absurd how some people start hating their favourite rider when he gets caught. |

Wut? What is absurd on disliking someone who betrayed your trust and support (even when he does not know you actually).

To be fair it would have been more surprising to see a cyclist in the Top100... Honestly what cyclist should make it? The biggest earners are hardly international superstars or American.
The biggest earning cyclist of all time was Armstrong, because he was American, had a real story and was a proper legend that has not been seen since.

Same reason they take drugs: They're used to the thought that they're entitled to it, they deserve it and they're just "being smart".
Also, they're convince they have it really hard because cycling is a tough sport.
Except, as guys like Virenque and Millar have said, when leave cycling and start having to mingle with real society you realize that being a professional cyclist is actually one of the easiest possible lives to have. They just have no idea what a regular person has to go through on a daily basis. They're rich and entitled and don't realize it.
I forget who but there was someone around here that kept saying a few months ago that Serebryakov "clearly" had started doping this year to try to keep up in the World Tour because Euskaltel would never sign a doper

Nothing new. Nordic skiers were using EPO in 1987 three years before the clinical trials ended

Another eastern european dominant rider made by drugs who does nothing in the pros. I'd throw him in the pile with all the others but I'm not sure there's any room left

It's like that dude in the CN forum said, their contracts catch more dopers than drug tests

The caught dopers come from Vini Fantini, Vacansoleil, AG2R and Euskaltel. But not one from Sky, Astana, OPQS or Saxobank.
It's obvious that the peleton is far from clean, but only the riders from smaller teams who can't pay world class doctors test positive. |

Was expected after the pre-agreements. Greipel seems very happy at Lotto

And rightly so.
Most parts of the train get old soon though (Henderson, Siebi, Bak, Hansen), but I don't see any other team dedicating even nearly as much to his success.

Yeah, mainly Henderson. The others all have about the same age as Greipel. Might be worth looking for a replament for Henderson though Roelandts could take over his role.

Well, if they don't sign dopers, they definitely make one out of them |
